I've some question here. It look like that I've to act as "Cloud hosting reseller partners" for your company, and re-sell the cloud services to my students. No there is no need for you to become a reseller using our standard reseller scheme. The reseller scheme gives you a 10% discount, but you are already getting 50% discount on this special education scheme. Also, I did not think that every student would have their own account, because you will find it more difficult to check what they are doing, and more difficult to check what resources they are using and so on. So there will be one account, which you control, and you can create a server for each student then give each student the ssh password for root on their server (or the VNC password if you wish them to run a CD installer first). There would be no need for the students to have their own credit card because it would all be charged to the one account. You would be able to view and control all the servers from a single control panel. Ok, I see. It is quite obvious to me now when you explain it.

23 I think that my understaning with the model of VPS creation and allocation, in which I used that for some years. I means when I need a new server, I have to send order request to VPS provider, and then they will create new VPS for me. The cloud model was not get into my head yet, I didn't realize that I can create instances of server on cloud by myself. But that's clear now. :) I was expecting that the costs would be paid by an official university credit card, and that the student course fees would cover this cost. If the project is not authorised by the university, but is instead an informal arrangement for just a handful of your best students, then probably you would need to collect the money from each student yourself. Nope, I planned for the students to do these process of registering domain and hosting by themselves, and they have to handle the payment process and contact with the providers and resolve any issues by themselves too. That supposed to be part of the learning. So, the fee for domain registration and hosting service are not included in the course fees. Well, actually getting the University to handle these kind of activities are a bit difficult, so, I don't want to bother with the bureaucratic process. The students had already learn some part of that already when they register for their own domain name. So, I've to collect the money by myself and pay that via my credit card. The alternative method (which I do not recommend) would be for you to send us a list of student addresses and mobile numbers which we would then use to create one account for each student. We would have to remember to set the agreed 50% discount manually on each account, as well as your own separate account, and we would have to remember to remove this discount after the project is completed. They would each get a 5 day trial, but then they would each need to enter credit card information separately to pay for more time and resources. Also, you would either not have access to their accounts yourself, or you would have to keep logging in and out of every account separately to view

24 just one server at a time, and I do not think this is convenient at all (for you or us). Yes, I think so, it is not convenient. The only benefit of separate accounts would be that each student could create as many servers as they wished, and they can add discs, boot from a Live CD to repair a boot problem, use our API to control servers programmatically and so on, all without your help. If the student's servers are in one account that you control then you would need to configure and then start the servers for them. In my view this is a small inconvenience, and so I recommend that you manage the student servers from one account. The students are always free to create their own accounts after the project if they wish to continue running their servers, and we can transfer servers between accounts if necessary. Agreed. Part of that the students already seen when they try VirtualBox on their own notebook, so that's not necessary. Another benefit of managing the student servers from one account is that you can do things like create an example server installation into which you place some deliberate misconfiguration as a test to see if the students can diagnose and fix the problem. You can then duplicate this disc image as many times as needed and give each student a separate copy of it so they can work on it by themselves. This is a great way to test their Linux administration skills, including testing whether they know how to find out how to do something that they were not taught by researching the method on the web. Yes, that's a good idea too. The students have to pay for the services before they can get access to cloud. But since, maybe none of them can pay to your company

25 directly (AFAIK no-one has credit card yet, only one has paypal account), so they've to pay for that via me, as a reseller, and I'll have to transfer that payment to your company, via my credit card right? Yes, this is the best way, unless you can arrange for the costs to be paid by the university from the student fees. I'll get it paid using my credit card. It should be started at 2nd or 3rd week of January next year. Ok, so I will extend your trial until the end of January. The trial account gives you enough resources to create one or two servers for free. You can use this to experiment and prepare. When you start to need more resources then you can pay for more using your credit card, and you can do this at any time without losing the benefit of the trial resources I will give you. Oh, that's really great! Thank a lot! I'm still not sure that how many of the students will use your service, at the moment. Eventhough half of your normal price for cloud services is cheaper than many (if not all) VPS services here in Thailand, compare at the same resources level. But there are some VPS plan from some provider here, with lower resource (e.g. 256MB RAM, 10GB storage) but also lower price than minimum resource. I'll ask the students and give you the number of them that will use your cloud later. Minimum pricing levels is another good reason for using a single

26 account to manage the student servers. The minimum size for one server is 500 MHz CPU and 256MB RAM. However the minimum subscriptions for a single account is equivalent to 2000MHz CPU and 1024MB RAM. If the students had their own accounts they could not pay less than this, but it only requires four minimum size servers to be in your account for you to exceed the minimum payment, so this works out well for everyone. You can charge the students the amount needed to run only the 500 MHz CPU and 256MB RAM server if that is all they need. That's really great! With that price, I think that it can beat maybe all of VPS services (so far that I've check them a few days ago) in Thailand. So, maybe all of the students will join this. But, I'm not sure that the 5-day free trial are also include in this offer or not. If it still is, I think that may be all of them will would like to try the free trial first. :) I will extend the free trial in your account until January so that you can become familiar with our system and try creating test disc images for the students and so on. You can demonstrate how it works to the students if you like. But if they are going to be doing this project with you then I think they should be happy to pay a share of the cost. Yes, sure. I am sure they will enjoy it and learn a lot. And I think you will find that it is an extremely convenient way to teach practical skills. On our system you can even teach them how to do the installation from CD which is better than other VPS servers you may have tried. I see.
