3 The E-Journals feature is used to find what journal titles Bethel has access to Example: A search for Newsweek will result in: E-Journals is not used to find journal articles Example: A search for gun control will give you:

4 Since E-Journals displays journal title that Bethel has access to, you will see the following types of journals Electronic journal titles that Bethel buys Freely available electronic titles Free titles may not always work Journal title that are available in paper Paper titles are only available at the Bowen Library Paper title can be checked out or copied

7 Here is an example of an journal title that is available in print Journal title Dates available This links to the Catalog, but does NOT provide access to the journal. Visit the library to access journal

8 To use E-Journals, first click on the E-Journals tab

9 Enter the journal s name, then click on Search Click here after entering journal s name

10 You will then see a list, in alphabetical order, of journal titles

11 Clicking on the button show the journal s name changes and other editions

12 Click on the journal title that you want to get information on the date ranges that Bethel has available and the location of where the journal is available You may click here as well

14 You may have to scroll down to get a full listing of all the available dates Bethel has access to Time from 1928 in paper Use this bar to scroll down

15 For electronic titles (not in paper) click on the database name to access the journal Each database works differently, so what you see once click on the database name will differ from database to database

16 For Academic Search, you will see for Newsweek the following: Click here to drill down to the article level

17 For free electronic titles (not in paper) click on the database name to access the journal Free title send you to a website. Each website works differently and access to the journal may not work.

18 For journals available in print, the only way to access the journal is to go to the library and get the journal This links only to the catalog, NOT an electronic version of this resource. The above title is NOT available online. You may go to the library and check the journal volume out, or you may photocopy the articles that you need.

19 Bethel When you are searching our databases, you may see the following: You will see this when Bethel has access to a journal title. Examples of access includes: Electronic titles that Bethel buys Freely available electronic titles Titles that are available in print

20 When you click the link and if the title is an electronic title that Bethel buys, then you will NOT see the Bethel page you will go straight to the resource Example: Bethel If you click here, you will go straight to the resource

21 When you click the link and if the title is an electronic title that is freely available, then you will see the Bethel page Example: Bethel If you click here, you will see the Bethel page See next screen

22 Bethel This screen is telling you that we have a link to the resource, but there is a warning letting you know that the link may not work This is freely available electronic journal. Clicking here takes you to the journal s website. See next slide for an example.

25 Bethel You will see a note saying Not available online. Note the line below it; the article IS available in print. This links to the Catalog, but does NOT provide access to the journal. Visit the library to access journal.
