1 DATE: November 7, 2016 TO: FROM: Schneider Electric Distributors, and End-users using the Schneider Electric E-Stop 9001SKR16 David Collins US Product Management SUBJECT: Schneider E-Stop 30mm 9001SKR16 PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE WARNING OF POTENTIAL UNSAFE CONDITION DELIVER IMMEDIATELY TO RESPONSIBLE PERSON IN YOUR ORGANIZATION Schneider-Electric Electric has become aware of a manufacturing non-conformance involving the Plastic E-Stop 30mm 9001SKR16** units which may impact the use of the product. The metallic range 9001KR16** is NOT affected by this issue. Do not take any action involving the metallic range. Our internal analysis indicates if the torque (5-8 Ib.in / Nm) on the screws of the adaptor/base or contact/adaptor in the Instruction Sheet is applied, these screws will be stripped and lead to a separation of the contact from the operator which is not detectable by the user. 2 This issue is due to a manufacturing non-conformance within our manufacturing process. The risk of occurrence depends on the ability and/or responsibility of the operator. Should this occur a risk of personal injury and property damage exists. We request the stop of all sales of the affected products immediately and follow the instructions in this letter. This Product Safety Notice applies only to the Plastic 9001SKR16** devices identified in Exhibit 1. Products not listed are not affected by this notice. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you and your customers. Should you have any questions about the returns process, please contact your local Schneider Electric office. 3 Recommended Action for Schneider Electric Distributors: Stop all sales of the affected products immediately. Check your inventory and segregate all Plastic 9001SKR16** devices Per our standard warranty return process: Distributors processing returns should contact the Schneider Electric Customer Care Center (CCC) and place a new order for the quantity of units that are impacted. At the same time, request a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) for the quantity of impacted units that you will return to Schneider Electric. When we receive the impacted units we will issue full credit. Please reference PRB when placing the new order and the request for return. Using the enclosed PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION TABLE (Exhibit 1), determine if you have any of the Plastic 9001SKR16** devices identified by this Product Safety Notice. 2. If your product is in operation, make arrangements for immediate replacement of the product by ordering an equivalent replacement device from your local distributor. Return the original device to your local Schneider Electric distributor for full credit. If the product is in your stock, return the affected device to your local Schneider Electric distributor. 4 equivalent replacement device at no charge for returning the product through your local Schneider Electric distributor. 3. All returned devices must be accompanied with a completed Return Information Form (Exhibit 2). Complete parts 1 & 3 of Form 1.
