1 USER ACCEPTANCE TESTING (UAT) AppTracker provides functionality to send end-users s with links to test forms so that applications can be tested and formally signed off by the business before they are deployed. CREATE A NEW APPLICATION TEST (UAT) It s assumed that you have an account in MigrationStudio with the Can Schedule App Tests right 2. Select an application (or create a dummy application to evaluate this feature) 3. Change to the App Testing tab 4. Click New Test 5. Choose a test type (by default there is only one test type; the process to add new test types is described below) 6. Choose who will run the test: Either select an existing contact for the application, or search for a new contact (this will typically search users imported from Active Directory) 7. For new contacts set a Contact Type 8. Click Next 9. Optional: If this test will be a formal sign-off for an entire department or location (or other Blueprint), tick the corresponding Blueprint. This will be recorded alongside the UAT result 10. Set the testing window start and end date and time 11. Choose whether to send the user a calendar entry in the 12. An RDP file can be generated and attached to the if required. This allows the user to easily connect to the test machine to UAT the application. The hostname of the test machine should either be entered manually, or if you have setup test machines in AppTracker, select one from the list (note that only test machines which are Available during the specified testing window are displayed). Instructions on how to add test machines and manage availability are provided below. 13. Click Next

2 14. A summary of the test is displayed. You can optionally add testing notes which will be displayed in the Portal when the user fills in the UAT form 15. Click Finish 16. If the UAT should be sent to the end-user click Send Sign Off to User. To review the yourself click Send Sign Off to Me. In this case the will be sent to the address associated with your account 17. An will be sent detailing the test including a signoff link, calendar file and RDP file (if selected) To re-send the UAT , click on the Options button in the App Testing tab, then click on the appropriate button To receive an alert when UAT is completed click My Settings, Notify me when a test is signed off, Global, Save Prefs VIEW UAT RESULTS FOR ALL APPLICATIONS It s assumed that you have an account in MigrationStudio with at least read-only rights in Applications 2. Click Grid Extensions, App Testing Results, Show All Results 3. Optional: Drag the Testing Result column up to group by that column. You can now see which apps have passed or failed 4. Click + to gain access to the UAT Sign Off Sheet 5. To turn off the UAT results click Grid Extensions, App Testing Results, Hide All Results

3 CREATE NEW TEST TYPES The Test Type dictates which questions are presented to the application tester in the sign-off form. You can have up to six test types 1. Admin -> Applications -> App Testing sub-tab 2. Place a tick by the next available AppTestCase 3. Click Save 4. Admin -> Questionnaires 5. In the Questionnaire drop-down select the App Test Case chosen in step 2 6. Change the Display Name as required. This will be used as the name of the Test Type when a new test is created Set the name of the new Test Type: This is displayed when a new test is created: 7. Click Create Sub-Tab 8. Add a Sub-Tab Title such as General 9. Click Create Sub-Tab 10. Modify the two sample questions as needed. To add new questions click on Click here to add new item a. Question type: Choose radio buttons, check boxes etc b. Question Text: The text for the question c. Options: For radio buttons and check boxes use the pipe symbol to separate answers. E.g. Yes No Maybe. Note that if you leave this blank you will get the options Yes;No;N/A Other question types do not require any Options to be added d. Tool Tip: Text to display when the user hovers the mouse over the blue question mark icon e. Order: Set the order the questions appear in f. VIS: Set the question as visible g. RO: Set the question as read-only h. HST: Not applicable for app testing 11. Click Save Changes Setting up new questions: Tooltip as seen by end-user: 12. You can preview the new questions by setting up a new application test, then ing yourself with the link.

4 MANAGE TEST MACHINES If you have a dedicated set of machines for application testing, it may ease the management of these machines using the features below. Admin rights are required for some of the setup. The Manage App Testing Machines right is required for general use of this feature. 1. Browse to Admin -> Applications -> App Testing tab 2. If you plan to rebuild each test machine (or revert the image if using a virtual machine) after each application test, place a tick by the option Flag testing machine as Needs Rebuild after User signs off App 3. Change to the AppTracker screen 4. Click App Testing -> Manage Machines 5. Click on Click here to add new item 6. In the Machine column enter the hostname of the test machine and press Enter 7. Select the new test machine, right-click, then set the Owner and Machine Type if required (the Machine Types can be edited in Admin -> Initial Setup -> Dropdown List Items) 8. Repeat the process above to add the other test machines 9. Click Save Changes 10. The status for all the new test machines will be set to Available 11. Close the Manage Test Machines window 12. When you schedule new application tests the new machines will be available 13. Note that once a test machine has been assigned to an application test during a specific test windows, it will no longer be shown as an available machine during same test window for new app tests. This is to prevent two app tests happening on the same machine at the same time 14. Once the application test has been completed, the machine status will change to Needs Rebuild, and will not be available for new tests until its status is changed to Available

5 15. Once the machine is ready to be used for new tests you can change the its status to Available: a. Click AppTracker -> App Testing -> Manage Machines b. Select the machine c. Right-click -> Set Status -> Available 16. Where you have been assigned the owner of a test machine, you can use the options under App Testing -> Release My Machines to manage its availability ARCHIVE A TEST Note that application tests cannot be permanently deleted, but they can be archived and un-archived 2. Select the application 3. Change to the App Testing tab 4. Click on the Toggle Archived button on the test you want to remove 5. You can restore an archived test by firstly clicking the Toggle Archived button in the toolbar, then click the Toggle Archived button on the test you want to restore
