3 1 Introduction 1.1. Purpose This document gives a short introduction on how to use the new registration system of DNS Belgium for.vlaanderen and.brussels. Your username will be provided by SMS. The admin user can login to the registrar web and set up 2-step verification. After login in to registrar web, the web password can be changed and other users should be created with different permissions. To be able to start with EPP, you need to create a user with (at least) the tech role. On the sandbox system, two separate registrar accounts will be provided to test transfers. EPP credentials Your login for EPP is your registrar handle. The tech user must set the EPP password via registrar web. Access to the EPP server needs to be enabled on a per-ip-address basis. The tech user must add these addresses via Registrar web. The EPP interface does not require a client certificate. The number of concurrent sessions to the EPP server of the system per registrar is currently limited to 4. Session timeout is set to 4 minutes. 3.4 Period durations The Registry supports the following periods. Note that to test the various periods, the sandbox Registry uses minutes where the production registry would use days. Redemption Period: 30 days (30 minutes) Pending Restore Report: 7 days (7 minutes) Pending Delete: 5 days (5 minutes) Pending Transfer: 5 days (5 minutes) Add Grace Period: 5 days (5 minutes) Transfer Grace Period: 5 days (5 minutes) Renew Grace Period: 5 days (5 minutes) Auto-renew Grace Period: 45 days (45 minutes) Auto-renew will remain at 1 year, the Registry can set a new expiration date on the sandbox system on demand of the registrar. Please contact our support team. 3.5 IDN The registry supports IDNA The IDN implementation has the following properties: The list of allowed characters can be found in the annex of the general manual. There is no variant handling. On the EPP-Interface, we will always return the A-Label of the domain name in the response as EPP is used to communicate between automated systems. 6 3.6 DNSSEC The Registry supports provisioning of DNSSEC information, and has the following related properties: The Registry requires key material as dsdata in the EPP frames. The use of keydata is not supported. 4 EPP basics DNS Belgium follows the RFCs relating to EPP. Following decisions have been made where the RFCs give a choice: The EPP server only accepts utf-8 character encoding. The EPP server offers contact and domain objects. Domain names must include the TLD (e.g. example.brussels ). Newly created domain names are active immediately. Host attributes must be used in domains. External hosts do not allow for IP addresses, while internal hosts (below the TLD) require at least one IP address (glue record). In domain objects, exactly one registrant, and at least one tech and admin contact is required. The contact type billing is not supported. In contact objects, we accept both type=int and type=loc fields. If you want to use non- ASCII characters in the address of your contact, you should use type=loc. Contact objects require an empty authinfo element on creation. Contact transfers are not supported. Domain names can be created without references to hosts however, this also means such domains are not included in the DNS. Domain transfer requests require the authinfo of the respective domain object. Domain Transfers are auto-approved after 5 days (or, 5 minutes on the sandbox system), but can also be o approved or rejected by the losing registrar. o cancelled by the gaining registrar. 5 ICANN compliancy DNS Belgium is compliant with ICANN requirements for gtlds. Following decisions have been made where the requirements are optional: The sponsoring registrar may refuse a transfer within 60 days of creation of the domain name or another transfer. DNS Belgium doesn t enforce this rule on the registry level. 7 6 Bug reports DNS Belgium is very interested to improve its system as much as possible. If you think there is a bug in the system or you have a suggestion for an improvement, please let us know. To be able to reproduce your issue, please provide the following information in your report: Reproduction path: which steps did you take to get the result. Data used: which data (registrar id, domain name, contact id, ) did you use. Please include timestamp and screenshot if possible. Actual result: what was the result you got.
