3 1 Introduction 1.1. Purpose The registrar web interface is a web-based interface where a registrar can: View and update its different settings Do user management Search the domains in his portfolio View billing information DEPENDING ON THE PERMISSIONS GRANTED TO YOUR USER, SOME OF THESE ITEMS WILL (NOT) BE AVAILABLE TO YOU. Each registrar is granted individual access to the registrar web interface. One account for the production system and two accounts for the sandbox system. The URLs for accessing the registrar web interface are available in the quickstart document. We recommend having the registrar web interface open while reading this documentation. 2 User management 2.1 Login At activation, each registrar will receive an to set the password for the admin user on their official address. Their user name will be sent by SMS. The admin user can log in to the registrar web. After logging in to the registrar web, the web password can be changed. Other users are created by the admin user and will also receive an with a link to set their password. You will receive an with a link to set your password. After the first login, you will be asked to set up your 2-step verification. You will need to install FreeOTP or Google Authenticator on your mobile phone. Both applications are available in Google Play and App Store. Open the application and scan the QR-code or enter the key shown on the page. Enter the one-time code provided by the application and click submit to finish the setup. You will be asked for your one-time code at every login so you will need to have your mobile phone available every time you log in. More information on 2-step verification can be found on our website: PLEASE NOTE THAT DNS BELGIUM CAN RESET THE 2-STEP VERIFICATION FOR THE ADMIN USER ONLY. 2.2 User permissions The administration of user data is the responsibility of the registrar. The admin user of the registrar can create, update and delete other users with specific roles. As a registrar, you should create a user for each of your employees. 4 this user can see and which transactions he or she can execute. This will offer you better security (check which user executed a transaction/delete user when employee leaves the company). These are the roles and permissions defined for the registrar web interface: Admin role Support role Tech role Finance role change password view registrar website view status (active/blocked) manage users update RAR contact info (profile) update RAR contacts (tech/admin) view and export billing lines EPP settings (IP addresses, password) view threshold for paying transactions View/search registration data 2.3 Creating a user To create a new user: Click on Users in the left menu. Click on Add user. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). In the pop-up, enter all relevant data for the new user. Please note that each login must be unique. After clicking on Create, an will be sent to the new user with a one-time link to activate his account. WARNING: PLEASE NOTE THAT 'USERS' HAVE BEEN CREATED FOR INTERNAL USE. ALTHOUGH A USER MAY BE RESTRICTED WITH RESPECT TO THE FUNCTIONS HE OR SHE CAN EXECUTE, WITHIN THESE FUNCTIONS, (S)HE HAS ACCESS TO ALL DATA. THIS FEATURE IS THEREFORE NOT INTENDED TO GIVE YOUR BUSINESS PARTNERS (RESELLERS) ACCESS TO THE WEB APPLICATION. EACH RESELLER WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THE DATA OF OTHER RESELLERS, WHICH CREATES A SERIOUS SECURITY PROBLEM. Copyright Ó 2016 DNS Belgium vzw/asbl 4
5 2.4 User details To view the details of a user: Click on Users in the left menu. Expand the user information by clicking on the user name. In the result, you can see all your users and the roles they were allocated. When expanding the user information, you can see more details about the user, including his recent activities. 2.5 Updating/deleting a user To update/delete a user: Click on Users in the left menu. In the list of users, pick the user you want to make changes to. Use the pencil icon to update the user. Use the bin icon to delete the user. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Please note the admin user can't be deleted. You can update all fields for the user except the login name. This is also where you can reset the 2- step verification for all your users. If you want to reset the 2-step verification for the admin user, please contact our support staff. 3 Registrar management The registrar management screen consists of 4 sections: General data: These are the details as mentioned in your contract with DNS Belgium. Public profile: These are the details as they will appear on the DNS Belgium website and/or WHOIS. This data can be updated. The information you enter here should be directed at your clients. Transactions: Information about your transactions limit. Billing: Information about your billing lines. Each section is explained further below. 3.1 General data These are the details as mentioned in your contract with DNS Belgium. You can t change this data. 6 3.2 Public profile To view your profile information, click on Registrar in the left menu and on the tab Public profile. The registrar info screen consists of 4 sections which can all be updated separately: Public contact information: these are the details as they will appear on the DNS Belgium website. Technical contact information: these are the details as they will appear on the WHOIS of all domain names in your portfolio. Administrative contact information: these are the details as they will appear on the WHOIS of all domain names in your portfolio. Abuse contact information: these are the details as they will appear on the WHOIS of all domain names in your portfolio. The information you enter here should be directed at your clients. To update your public contact data: Click on Registrar in the left menu. Click on the tab Public profile. Click on Update details next to the section you want to update. Don t forget to save your changes. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). 3.3 Transactions DNS Belgium has implemented a protected transactions threshold. This threshold can be (re)set by the registry for each registrar individually. It is meant to protect the registrar against accidents/bad intent. The transactions covered in this threshold are: Create domain Renew domain Delete domain Restore domain op= request Transfer domain op= request Reaching the threshold means you can t do any more protected transactions until midnight UTC. The EPP server will return a 2308 error with reason No protected transactions allowed until [datetime]. Other transactions are still possible. If you have reached the threshold or you want to change the default value of the threshold, please contact the DNS Belgium support staff and they will help you. To see your threshold and the current number of transactions: Click on Registrar in the left menu. Click on the tab Transactions. Copyright Ó 2016 DNS Belgium vzw/asbl 6
7 3.4 Billing To see your billed transactions for a certain month: Click on Registrar in the left menu. Click on the tab Billing. Select the year/month for which you want to see the billed transactions and click submit. The result will appear on the same page and can be downloaded as a csv file. The transactions that can create a line in this report are: Create domain Renew domain Auto-renew domain Renew after transfer Domain restore request Refund add grace Refund transfer grace Refund renew grace Refund auto-renew grace (transfer) Refund auto-renew grace (delete) 4 EPP settings 4.1 IP whitelist To be able to use our EPP service, we need to know the IP address(es) you will be using to connect to our EPP server. You can add a maximum of 10 different IP addresses. To update your IP addresses: Click on EPP settings in the left menu. Click on Edit list in the tab IP whitelist. After entering your IP address(es), click update to commit. 4.2 Password To be able to use our EPP service, you need to set your EPP password. The first time, this must be done via this screen. Afterwards, it can also be done during the EPP login. Please note that the modification of the EPP password takes place immediately. You will need to update your EPP client accordingly. To change your EPP password: Click on EPP settings in the left menu. Click on the tab Password. Enter your current and your new EPP password. Click on Update. Copyright Ó 2016 DNS Belgium vzw/asbl 7
8 If you have lost your current EPP password, please contact our support staff. 5 Registrations 5.1 Search You can search all active domain names in your portfolio: Click on Registrations in the left menu. The wildcard for the search is an asterisk (*). You don t need to enter the tld in the search. The search result shows all domain names in your portfolio matching the search criteria. You can click on the View button to view the details of each domain name. 5.2 Domain view To view the details of a domain name: Click on Registrations in the left menu. Enter (part of) the domain name you want to find. Use * as wildcard. Click Search. Click View next to the domain name you want to view. The domain view shows all the details of the domain name. Below the domain name, you also see labels indicating the status of the domain name. Contact information will be expanded by clicking on the contact. 5.3 Contact view You can only view the details of contacts associated with active domain names.
