Indicates the likelihood of a successful delivery to the validated address on a scale of 0 (lowest) to 5 (highest). ResultPercentage. Denotes the similarities between the input and the validated output as a percentage. ElementInputStatus (EIS). Contains a 20-character string that shows the status of each of the 20 address elements in the input. EIS indicates the quality of parsed input and shows whether an element was in the input or empty, checked or not, and so on. ElementResultStatus (ERS). Contains a 20-character string that shows the validation status of each of the 20 address elements in the validated output. ERS indicates whether an element was verified or changed and possible reasons for any change made to the address element. AddressResolutionCode (ARC). Contains a 20-character string that shows why an address was rejected and which of the 20 address elements caused the rejection of the address.
AddressDoctor H2L 3 ExtElementStatus (EERS). Contains a 20-character string that shows whether the reference database contains additional information for any of the 20 address elements. ElementRelevance. Contains a 20-character string that shows the relevance of each of the 20 address elements based on the local postal requirements. AddressType. Indicates the type of the given address. For example, S for street addresses and H for high-rise buildings. This document explains how you can use some of these status values, such as ElementResultStatus, ExtElementStatus, ElementRelevance, AddressType, and MailabilityScore, to determine the postal relevance of an element in an address. This document contains examples that illustrate the use of status values for determining the postal relevance of the SubBuilding element in an address. Determining the Postal Relevance of the SubBuilding Element Subbuilding information is handled differently in U.S. and non-u.s. addresses. The following sections explain the differences in validating subbuilding information in U.S. addresses and addresses from countries other than the U.S.: SubBuilding Information in U.S. Addresses SubBuilding Information in Non-U.S. Addresses Subbuilding Information in U.S. Addresses Subbuilding information is crucial for addresses that belong to high-rises and apartment complexes. In the United States, address records that require subbuilding information are marked as high-rise building addresses (AddressType H). If the input address is of AddressType H and contains subbuilding information that matches with the reference address database, AddressDoctor assigns a MailabilityScore of 5, which indicates a Completely Confident delivery, for the address. For example: 380 UNION ST STE 300 AddressType = H, MailabilityScore = 5 ERS = F8F0F8F0F00000F000E0 ElementRelevance = An ERS value of F for the SubBuilding element in the preceding example indicates that the element was validated, verified, and not changed because of perfect match. AddressDoctor assigns MailabilityScore of 4, which indicates an Almost Certain delivery, for an AddressType H address in the following cases: Subbuilding information is missing from the input. For example: 380 UNION ST AddressType = H, MailabilityScore = 4 ERS = F8F0F8F0F E0 EERS = ElementRelevance = ERS value of 0 for the SubBuilding element indicates that the subbuilding information was not input. However, the EERS value of 1 shows that the reference database contains subbuilding information for the address.
4 AddressDoctor H2L Subbuilding information in the input does not match with the reference address database. For example: 380 UNION ST STE 350 AddressType = H, MailabilityScore = 4 ERS = F8F0F8F0F E0 ElementRelevance = ERS value of 3 for the SubBuilding element indicates that the subbuilding information in the input was wrong. Note: AddressType H is available only for U.S. addresses. Other countries do not have a special AddressType for high-rise buildings. If you include subbuilding information in an address that does not contain the SubBuilding element, AddressDoctor reduces the MailabilityScore value of that address and returns an EERS value of B for the SubBuilding element. For example: 360 UNION ST AddressType = S, MailabilityScore = 5 ERS = F8F0F8F0F E0 EERS = ElementRelevance = The address in this example does not have any subbuilding element and has MailabilityScore of 5, which denotes a completely confident delivery. The ERS, EERS, and ElementRelevance values are all 0 because there is no SubBuilding element in this address. However, if we modify the address to include subbuilding information, AddressDoctor changes the values of ERS, EERS, and ElementRelevance. See the following example: 360 UNION ST STE 300 AddressType = S, MailabilityScore = 2 ERS = F8F0F8F0F E0 EERS = B00000 ElementRelevance = Because there is no reference data to check the subbuilding information in the input, AddressDoctor downgrades MailabilityScore for this address to 2. The reduced MailabilityScore of 2 indicates that the validated address has only a fair chance of delivery. The ERS value of 4 indicates that the SubBuilding element was validated but not checked because there was no reference data available. The EERS value of B means that the ElementRelevance value of the element is only a country-wide default and is not trustworthy. Subbuilding Information in Non-U.S. Addresses AddressType H is available only for U.S. addresses. For countries other than the U.S., the AddressType value does not indicate whether the address should contain subbuilding information. However, if subbuilding information is available in the reference address database and not in the input address, AddressDoctor indicates that with an EERS value of 1. Postal rules and regulations regarding the handling of subbuilding information in addresses vary across countries. For example, the SERP guidelines for Canada require that an input address be rejected if that address does not contain the subbuilding information that is available in the reference address database. In AMAS-certified validation of Australian addresses, the presence of Delivery Point Identifier (DPID) indicates whether the address has been validated up to the subbuilding level. DPID values are in the range of through
AddressDoctor H2L 5 The following sections explain how AddressDoctor by Informatica handles subbuilding information while it validates addresses from countries other than Canada, Australia, and the U.S. SubBuilding Information is Present Neither in the Reference Database Nor in the Input Address SubBuilding Information is Present in the Reference Database but Not in the Input Address SubBuilding Information is Present in the Input Address but Not in the Reference Database SubBuilding Information is Present in the Input Address and in the Reference Database SubBuilding Information is Present Neither in the Reference Database Nor in the Input Address If subbuilding information is not available in the input address and the reference database, AddressDoctor returns ERS and EERS values of 0 for the SubBuilding element. A value of 0 for the SubBuilding element in both these status codes indicates that no subbuilding information is available for the address. SubBuilding Information is Present in the Reference Database but Not in the Input Address If the input address does not contain the subbuilding information and the corresponding reference database contains subbuilding information, AddressDoctor returns an EERS value of 1 for the SubBuilding element. An EERS value of 1 for the SubBuilding element indicates that more information for the SubBuilding element is available in the reference database. When it validates addresses that do not contain subbuilding information in the input, AddressDoctor does not add the subbuilding information from the reference database to the output. In such cases, AddressDoctor returns ElementResultStatus and ElementRelevance of 0 for the SubBuilding element. When there is an EERS value of 1, you might want to check whether adding the subbuilding information could improve the chances of a successful delivery. For example: Note: This example uses comma-separated addresses. Input: Perry court, London, N15 6QS, GBR Output: OATFIELD HOUSE, PERRY COURT, LONDON, N15 6QS ERS = F0F000F E0 Relevance = EERS = You can see that AddressDoctor added the building name OATFIELD HOUSE in the output. An ERS value of 8 for the Building element indicates that the information was added during validation. Even though the SubBuilding information was not added to the output, the EERS value of 1 for the SubBuilding element indicates that more information for the SubBuilding element is available in the reference address database. Note: When you enter a Canadian address to validate in the Batch or Certified mode, AddressDoctor rejects the address if the input does not contain the subbuilding information that is available in the corresponding reference database. AddressDoctor returns an AddressResolutionCode of 2 to indicate that the element is missing. SubBuilding Information is Present in the Input Address but Not in the Reference Database If the input address contains subbuilding information and the reference database does not, AddressDoctor copies the subbuilding information from the input to the output without validating the information. If the reference database does not contain subbuilding information for certain addresses, AddressDoctor relies on the countrywide default value of the SubBuilding element to decide the ElementRelevance value of the SubBuilding element in such addresses. When the country-wide default value is returned as the ElementRelevance value for the SubBuilding element, AddressDoctor returns an EERS value of B for the SubBuilding element. An EERS value of B indicates that the ElementRelevance value for the element is derived from the country-wide default value. If there is no country-wide default value available for the SubBuilding element, AddressDoctor assigns an ElementRelevance value of 0 to the SubBuilding element.
6 AddressDoctor H2L SubBuilding Information is Present in the Input Address and in the Reference Database When the SubBuilding information is present in the input address and the reference database, the following scenarios are possible: The input address and the reference database contain the same subbuilding information. For example: INPUT: Perry court, Flat 65, London, N15 6QS, GBR OUTPUT: FLAT 65, OATFIELD HOUSE, PERRY COURT, LONDON, N15 6QS ERS = F0F000F F000E0 Relevance = EERS = You can see that AddressDoctor added the building information to the output. The ElementResultStatus for the SubBuilding element is F, which denotes that the information is validated, verified, and not changed due to perfect match. The ElementRelevance value for the SubBuilding element is 1. Compare this with the example in the SubBuilding Information is Present in the Reference Database but Not in the Input Address section. The ERS and Relevance values for the SubBuilding element are 0 in that example. Because subbuilding information in the reference database is not added to the output, the ERS value is set to 0. AddressDoctor by default assigns a Relevance value of 0 if the ERS value for the corresponding element is 0. The subbuilding information in the input address does not match with the subbuilding information in the reference address database. For example: Input: Perry court, Flat A, London, N15 6QS, GBR Output: FLAT A, OATFIELD HOUSE, PERRY COURT, LONDON, N15 6QS ERS = F0F000F E0 Relevance = EERS = AddressDoctor copied the subbuilding information from the input address to the output. In this case, the ERS value for the SubBuilding element is 4, which denotes that the information was validated, but not changed due to lack of reference data, and the EERS value is 1. The EERS value of 1 indicates that additional information is available in the reference database. Because the input subbuilding does not match with the reference data, you might want to further investigate this address. Summary An EERS value of 1 for an element indicates that more information is available for the element. You might want to further investigate the address to add missing information and ensure completeness. AddressDoctor does not assign element relevance value to elements copied from the input. However, if there is a country-wide default relevance value available for the copied element, AddressDoctor returns the same value in the Relevance code. An EERS value of B for an element indicates that the ElementRelevance for that element is based on the country-wide default value for the element.
