2 revised 10/08/09 My Learning Plan User Instructions Logging In Login to My Learning Plan by going to Enter your username (your entire address) and your password (1 st time userspassword = changeme without quotation marks). Click login. My Learning Plan Main Menu Click the Learning Plan tab at any time to return to the main menu. The courses in which you are currently enrolled will appear in the approved and in progress section. 2

3 Update Your User Profile (This step will need to be completed the first time you login OR if your campus location, grade level, or subject/department has changed. Skip this step on future logins.) Click My User Profile from the menu on the left side of the screen. Under the Notification Preferences section, click yes for new activity notification, approval status changes, and upcoming activities reminder. Anytime you are enrolled in any staff development, My Learning will send you an reminder. In the # days prior to Activity Start Date box, enter the number of days that you would like a reminder. It is recommended that you change this number to 2. Make sure your address is entered correctly. With these settings checked, you will receive notification any time that a class is added, approval for a conference is granted, or a class reminder is sent. Please note that all correspondence from My Learning Plan will come from an with the address listed as info@mylearningplan. On the HTML formatted message option, select yes. Make sure your campus is checked under building. If you travel to more than one campus each day, you can select each of the campuses to which you travel. Select the department(s) that best describes your current position. Select the grade level(s) that best describes your current position. Click the save button. You should see the form saved message to indicate that your changes were successfully saved. Changing Your Password After logging in to MLP, click change password from the menu on the left side of the screen. If a menu is not displayed, click the Learning Plan button from the top-middle of the page. Enter your current password. First time users will use the changeme password. Enter your new password then retype the new password. Click submit. You should receive the password changed message. Enrolling in a Class MLP offers two different ways to enroll in courses. You can view classes from a list or from a calendar view (see screen shot below). 3

4 List View After logging in to MLP, click district catalog from the menu on the left side of the screen. If a menu is not displayed, click the Learning Plan button from the top-middle of the page. A list of available classes with a course description will appear. The dates, number currently enrolled, and number of hours/credits earned by taking the course is listed below the description. To enroll in the class, click the course title. The meeting date, time, location, instructor, goals, purposes, hours/credits earned, # enrolled, and # on wait list are displayed. Click the sign up now button. You should receive the you are enrolled message as confirmation. Click the return button. Because most of our staff development is held after school, pre-approval is not required. The list of classes that you are enrolled in will appear in the approved and in progress section on the main menu. Calendar View You can also view the district catalog in a calendar format rather than the list format. From the menu bar on the left side of the page, click the calendar link. Select the district catalog by clicking in the checkbox. Select the district calendar to view both staff development classes AND general district dates such as six week period begin and end dates and holidays. Please note that you can also add personal information to the calendar so that you can see personal and district events simultaneously. To add events to your personal calendar, see the instructions Personal Calendar below. To enroll in a class, click the course title. 6 Dropping a Class After logging in to MLP, you should see the main menu (see figure on page 1). If a menu is not displayed, click the Learning Plan button from the top-middle of the page. From the approved and in progress section, click on the class that you want to drop. From the actions section, click drop. Confirm that you have selected the correct class. You will be asked if you are sure you wish to drop this class. Click yes. You should receive the request has been dropped message. Click the return button. Viewing Your Completed Hours/Credits After logging in to MLP, you should see the main menu (see figure on page 1). If a menu is not displayed, click the Learning Plan button from the top-middle of the page. From the menu on the left side of the page, click My Portfolio. A list of completed activities along with hours/credits will be displayed. To see the professional development hours that you have accumulated for other areas, click View by Goal from the left menu. To see the technology proficiencies that you have completed, click view licensure from the left menu. Click the Learning Plan tab from the top of the screen to return to the main menu. 6

7 Using the Personal Calendar My Learning Plan allows you the option to enter personal events/activities in a personal calendar which can then be viewed simultaneously with the district calendar. The personal calendar can be accessed from any computer with internet access. Adding a Personal Event/Activity After logging in to click the learning plan tab. Click the calendar link from the menu on the left side of the page. Select the checkbox in front of my calendar. Click add event. Enter the information for your activity/event in the fields listed. 7

8 Click the save button. You will receive a form saved confirmation. Click the return to main button to continue adding events. Viewing Your Personal Calendar After logging in to click the calendar link from the menu on the left side of the page. Select the checkbox in front of my calendar to view your personal activities/events. To view the district events and district catalog, select the appropriate checkboxes. Deleting/Modifying a Personal Event After logging in to click the calendar link from the menu on the left side of the page. Select the checkbox in front of my calendar to view your personal activities/events. From the calendar, click on the event/activity that you wish to delete. Make any necessary changes, then click the save button. To delete the event, click the delete button. 8

9 Receiving Credit for a Course In order to receive credit for any course, you MUST complete the steps listed below. Step 1: Take the Course Step 2: Complete the Evaluation Login to My Learning Plan ( ). The main menu should be displayed. If a menu is not displayed, click the Learning Plan button from the top-middle of the page. From the approved and in progress section of My Requests, click the course that you have completed. From the action section, select PISD Evaluation Form. Complete the evaluation form. Please note that you must enter a response for each question. Click the save button to save your evaluation and exit. Until the course instructor has confirmed your attendance, the course will be listed under the approved and in progress section of My Requests. Exit from My Learning Plan. After the instructor has confirmed your attendance, the course will move to the most recently completed section of My Requests on the main menu. You can confirm that credit has been transferred by clicking My Portfolio from the menu on the left side of the screen. Printing a Completion Certificate It is not necessary to print a certificate for the courses that you complete. My Learning Plan will maintain and manage your professional development hours/credits. Printing a completion certificate is optional and for your records only. Login to My Learning Plan ( ). The main menu should be displayed. If a menu is not displayed, click the Learning Plan button from the top-middle of the page. After the instructor has confirmed your attendance, the course will move to the most recently completed section of My Requests. Click the course title. Click print certificate. 9
