1 Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) PDExpress User Guide This User Guide is for staff using PDExpress to manage their professional development information. It explains how to: View and revise personal contact information, View certifications on file, Propose professional development activities for review/approval and credit, Create and submit professional development plans, View and register for professional development courses, Print certificates of completion for courses, print transcripts and professional development plans, How to Log In / Log Out Go to the Perrysburg Schools website Click on Staff and then click on LPDC - PDExpress Enter your staff ID (first initial and last name) and password (4u2change) (please remember to change password after first login). Staff Member Home Page in PDExpress After login, the Home Page shows the PDExpress Navigation Bar across the top. The Navigation Bar enables you to access your professional development information. 1

2 The My Information menu, Courses menu and Resources menu drop down when you move over them. Click on the section you wish to see. If you have an expiring certificate, a notice appears below the Navigation Bar in a yellow field. If you have not yet competed a course evaluation required before credit will be awarded, there will be a notification on the screen. Click on the course title to be taken to the evaluation, then complete and submit it. The last gray-colored section will show your professional development activities, plans, etc. that are currently in progress. Click on any section in this gray area to expand and view the details. Entering a New Individual Professional Development Plan Once your new license is received from the state you will need to write a new plan. Click on Create Plan button. For more detailed steps see page 4. Request Activities The Request Activity button allows you to complete a request for professional development credit. This can only be done once you have a plan in place and needs to be done BEFORE the activity takes place. A good habit will be to complete this process when filling out registration papers and requesting a professional day through AESOP. The LPDC committee will approve/disapprove your request and an will be sent confirming action taken at LPDC meeting. You will take class, attend workshop, or perform whatever activity you requested. When you have completed the activity, send verification documentation (transcripts, CEU form, etc.) to LPDC after making a copy for yourself. The LPDC committee will then verify the activity. IF documentation is correct, the committee will change the status of activity to completed and an will be sent confirming action taken at LPDC meeting. The committee will keep all paperwork to be used for license renewal. Click on Request Activities to get started. For more detailed steps see page 6. 2

3 Entering a New Individual Professional Development Plan Click on Create Plan. Select the appropriate School Year, Enter a Description, click on use a form and click Next. Complete all the required information (click in box before District Goals, for Building Goals, click on drop down arrow to choose and then add Personal Goal(s) using the SMART goal format) in the template and click Save. If at any time you want to print your Plan, click Print. When you are ready to submit your Plan for review/approval, change the Plan Status from New to Submitted and click Save. The Plan will be routed to the LPDC committee for review and approval. Click Close to exit the Plan section. 3

4 Request Activities Click on Request Activities button. This screen appears. Select the year based on when activity will begin. Click in next box to select activity type and then enter a description of the activity. If a college course enter the name of the university, class name, class number, semester, and year. If a conference/workshop enter the name of the workshop, the group sponsoring the conference/workshop, location and date. Click Next. Follow the instructions given and fill in all information requested. All areas must be completed. If unsure of the Hours/SemHr/CEUs just put 0 for all. This area will be changed once activity is completed and paperwork is submitted to verify. **Relevance to IPDP must be thoughtful and pertinent to Personal Goals. When finished click the Save button and then on the Submit for Review. Your request will be electronically routed to the LPDC committee for approval. The status will be Submitted, until the LPDC committee Approves or Reviews (not approved) this request. The status of an activity will change as it goes through the LPDC approval process. After you submit a copy of the transcript, conference attendance certificate, or other documentation, the status will be changed to Completed and the Activity will appear on your professional development 4

5 transcript. Each time that an Activity Status changes, you will receive an automated informing you and instructing you to log on to PDExpress to check the status change. Under either of the Activities tabs, you can see all of your activities and what the status is of each activity. Click the Transcript button to view and print a transcript of all your professional development Activities and Courses. This can be custom developed based on dates for your current plan. Remember 18 CEUs are required for license renewal from the date of your approved plan to the end date of your expiring license. Perrysburg Schools offers a lot of Professional Development. Click on Courses to see a list of the available options. Click on the Course Title or Course Section to view details about the Course. If you are interested in taking this PD, click on register. In some cases, you will automatically be registered for courses based on grade level and building meetings. No documentation is needed to verify (other than attendance at PD). Central Office personnel will complete the course and CEU credit will be given. MyInformation>Credentials To view your credentials on file, click MyInformation and select Credentials. If any info is incorrect or needs updating, contact Paula Stout at Central Office. MyInformation>Plans This section allows you to write and submit individual professional development plans. To view previously written or submitted Plans, click Year of the plan. Click the Delete Plan icon only if you want to erase the Plan. MyInformation>Preferences This section allows you to set a date range filter to view Activities and Courses. MyInformation>Presentations If you are presenting workshops or courses appearing in the Course Catalog, you may click on the name of the course and then the icons to view the names of the registered participants, print out sign-in sheets, and verify when course participants have completed course requirements and how many professional development hours and credits they earned. MyInformation>Profile This section allows you to view your personal contact information. Please keep all contact information up to date. Contact Paula Stout at Central Office if changes need to be made. MyInformation>Change Password 5

6 Type your current password, then enter you password and again to confirm it. Courses>Course Catalog Click on Courses, then Course Catalog to access an alpha list of district courses or workshops currently offered. Click on the Calendar tab to view the courses in a calendar grid. You may filter the course catalog according to Strands, Audience, Topic, etc. Remember to click the Remove Filter button to return to the full Course Catalog list. If you wish to contact the course presenter, click on their name to access your system. If you wish to register, click the Register button at the top of the page. You will receive an enrollment confirmation message or be asked if you want to add your name to a Waiting List. If you clear the Waiting List, you will receive an notification. 6
