4 1 The translectures Matterhorn Plug-in (TLM) During the M30-M36 period, UPVLC has released a small piece of software to integrate the translectures Platform (TLP) (see D5.3.3) into the Opencast Matterhorn platform. This allows institutions using Opencast Matterhorn to ingest their videos into the translectures Platform to be automatically transcribed and translated using translectures ASR and MT tools. It is publicly available at Documentation on how to install the plug-in can be also found on this website. 1.1 Plug-in description The translectures plug-in for Opencast Matterhorn (TLM) includes: translectures Custom Workflow Operation translectures Custom Workflow translectures Matterhorn Service (API) translectures Matterhorn Service (Implementation) Figure 1 gives an overview of the operations carried out by the translectures Custom Workflow on ingested videos. Figure 1: Overview of the translectures Custom Workflow Here the translectures Custom Workflow process is described in more detail: 1. Media tracks are ingested into the Matterhorn platform. 2. The translectures Custom Workflow processes the media tracks: 4

5 (a) Initial standard Matterhorn operations are performed (inspect, prepare-av, compose, trim, etc.) (b) A translectures Media Package is generated, including: Presenter media track Media language Matterhorn mediapackage ID Title Author Duration Attachments (slides, documents, etc.) (c) The Media Package is sent to the translectures Web Service /ingest interface. (d) Final standard Matterhorn operations are performed (segmentpreviews, publish, etc.) 3. The translectures Ingest Service will transcribe and translate the ingested media package. The translectures Matterhorn Services (API and Implementation) are the gateway between the translectures Platform and Opencast Matterhorn. Engage Player and/or other external players and services can use the translectures Matterhorn API to retrieve the following information: /status: <MH URL>/translectures/status/{id}. Returns the current ingest status for a given media package ID. /langs: <MH URL>/translectures/langs/{id}. Returns a JSON containing all available subtitle languages for a given media package ID. /dfxp: <MH URL>/translectures/dfxp/{id}/{lang}. Returns a DFXP file containing the subtitles for a given media package ID and language code. /lecturedata: <MH URL>/translectures/lecturedata/{id}. Returns a JSON with details about the media package for given media package ID. For more details please see D Paella Player The Paella Player ( is an open-source HTML5 multistream video player developed at the UPVLC. It has been specifically designed for lecture recordings such as Matterhorn lectures or polimedia learning pills. It supports Opencast Matterhorn 1.4.X, and includes a plug-in to enable translectures Platform support (which can be found in By substituting the official Engage Player with Paella Player, users can display the generated video subtitles in any of the supported languages. Of course, institutions using different players for Opencast Matterhorn can easily adapt their players in order to visualise the translectures subtitles generated using the translectures Matterhorn Service. 5
