2 WHAT IS A DIGITAL SUBMISSION? We encourage an in-person artistic review, but we understand that we have applicants from all over the country and all over the world who may not be able to travel to one of our regional artistic review locations. A digital submission consists of performing your monologue(s) (if required), discussing your portfolio (if required) and having a conversation with your evaluator on Zoom, a free video conferencing platform. Some candidates will be required to upload singing and dance videos or a portfolio to SlideRoom as well. Digital submissions are considered just as seriously as in-person artistic reviews and the same team of evaluators reviews our digital candidates. You may only participate in one artistic review as part of your application. HOW DO I BEGIN? 1. Apply to NYU You must submit the Common Application BEFORE you can schedule an artistic review session. On the Academics tab of the Common App, you will be asked a series of questions which will lead you to the Tisch Drama SlideRoom portal. After choosing TISCH, then DRAMA, you will see this question: "Applicants to the artistic programs at NYU, including the one which you indicated above, are required to audition or submit a creative portfolio. You can begin the process by linking your Common Application with SlideRoom. Select 'Yes' to link your Common Application to SlideRoom." Once you select YES, you will see INSTRUCTIONS pop up under PORTFOLIO in the lefthand column. Click on INSTRUCTIONS to access the NYU TISCH DRAMA button on the list of departmental SlideRoom portals. IMPORTANT Once you arrive at the SlideRoom portal, please bookmark the page. ** You must submit the Common App BEFORE you will be permitted to submit materials on SlideRoom.** 2
3 2. Upload your artistic review material to SlideRoom. ALL candidates will create an account and provide artistic review materials via SlideRoom, which include: photo and résumé information about your monologues, songs or portfolios answers to some basic questions artistic review fee If you are a digital applicant, you will upload your required videos or portfolio to SlideRoom An artistic review fee of $95 must be submitted along with your SlideRoom material. Please know that SlideRoom charges a $5 usage fee. If you received a Common App fee waiver or are a current NYU student, you will not be required to pay the artistic review fee or the SlideRoom fee. Digital submission candidates will also upload the required videos for their discipline to SlideRoom. Step-by-step instructions for creating a SlideRoom account and uploading the required digital artistic review materials can be found later in this document. There is a small fee for using SlideRoom as well as an artistic review fee. Please submit your digital material according to the corresponding deadlines on page 6. If your material is not received by the deadline listed, your artistic review will be considered incomplete, you will not be contacted for an artistic review Zoom session, and you will forfeit your application to NYU. 3. Schedule an artistic review Zoom session. A few days after you submit the Common App, you will receive an from NYU with a link to the artistic review scheduler. When scheduling a digital artistic review session, you will choose a date and a 3-hour session time during which you will perform your monologue(s) (if required), discuss your portfolio (if required) and have a brief conversation with your evaluator via Zoom, just as you would in an in-person evaluation. Zoom is a free video conferencing platform. About 30 minutes before your check-in time, you will receive an from the department with a link inviting you to your artistic review Zoom session. Once you click that link, you will join a meeting with other applicants who are also participating in a digital session at the same time. Your host will tell you what to expect during the session and then invite you to your own breakout room. Here you will watch a short informational video with the Director of Admissions while you wait for your evaluator to join your breakout room for your artistic review. Your evaluator will first ask you to perform your monologue(s) (if required) and then ask you to sit back down at your computer for a brief conversation. Acting evaluations (for Acting and Musical Theater candidates) take about 15 minutes. Directing and Production & Design evaluations take about minutes. 3
