4 4 Tim wants to make a black and white rug. Here is his design drawn to scale. Scale 1:10 1 (b) What actual area does one square centimetre on the drawing represent? Circle your answer. 5 5 1 (d) To make the rug Tim uses a rug canvas with 16 holes per square inch. He buys the wool in packs containing 150 strands per pack. He says I will need more than 70 packs of black wool to make the rug. Is he correct? You must show your working. [4 marks] Turn over (05)

6 6 1 (e) Tim needs 122 packs of wool to make a different rug. Packs of wool cost 1.54 per pack. The rug is 90 cm wide and 150 cm long. 90cm wide rug canvas costs per metre of length. He has to pay VAT at 20% on both the wool and the rug canvas. Tim says, 250 is more than enough to buy the materials I need to make this rug. Is he correct? You must show your working. 8 8 2 High Pond Activity Centre There is a data sheet for High Pond Activity Centre. I teach at Kenfield School. I am planning a trip to High Pond. Mr Shah Mr Shah sends this to the Centre Manager. 10 10 2 (c) At High Pond, Harry and Maya do archery. In this activity they shoot arrows at a target. Each arrow can score between 1 and 10 depending upon where it hits the target. 12 12 3 Cupcakes I make cupcakes and sell them at a market. Amy Amy makes each cupcake in a paper case. She sells the cupcakes in single es and in double es. Single Double (12)

13 13 3 (a) Amy takes the cupcake es to the market in crates. 14 14 Amy makes 120 cupcakes. She wants to sell 80 cupcakes in single es the rest of the cupcakes in double es, with 2 cupcakes in each. 3 (b) Amy buys the es. The cost of each single depends on how many single es she buys. The cost of each double depends on how many double es she buys. On Saturday the shop will open at 8 am and close at 9 pm On Sunday the shop will open at 9 am and close at 6 pm From Monday to Friday the shop will open at 7 am and close before 10 pm Complete the table to show possible closing times.
