3 Application Overview This document describes the necessary steps to configure the TS8000 HMI to communicate with the 590+ DC Drive, 690+ AC Drive, and L5300 Link2 Rack via Ethernet communications. This configuration requires an optional 6053/ENET or 6055/ENET Ethernet Techbox for both the 590+ and 690+ drives, and an optional L5352 Ethernet Module for the L5300 Link2 Rack. For more information on the 6053/ENET and 6055/ENET refer to: HA468030U001 Ethernet Communications Interface, and for the L5352 refer to: HA470898U001 Ethernet Communications Interface. Configuring The 590+ and 690+ Drives The 590+, 650v, and 690+ drives must be configured for the proper Ethernet communications by using the CE Lite programming software. The 590+ and 690+ drives are both capable of communications with a maximum baud rate of 100Mbps. For this application, we will set up the drives as follows: The 590+ DC Drive will be set to IP address The 690+ AC Drive will be set to IP address The Subnet Mask will remain at The Byte Swap setting will remain False (enabling Modbus TCP comms). Configuring The L5300 Link Rack The L5300 Link Rack must be configured for the proper Ethernet communications by using the DSD programming software. The L5352 Ethernet module is capable of communications with a maximum baud rate of 100Mbps. For this application, we will set up the rack as follows: The L5352 Ethernet module will be set to IP address The Subnet Mask will remain at The Byte Swap setting will remain False (enabling Modbus TCP comms). Configuring The TS8000 HMI 1. Configure the Communications. Navigate to the Communications section of DSI8000. Select the Ethernet Port by selecting it from the tree on the left. Set the Port Mode to Manual Configuration. Set the IP Address to and the Network Mask to Page 1

4 Select Protocol by selecting it from the tree on the left. Select the Modbus TCP/IP Master driver from the selection button at the right. Use the Add Additional Device button to create a device for the drives and Link rack, and name them as appropriate. Set the IP Address for each unit to match the address used above, and verify that the TCP Port is set for 502 (this is a Modbus TCP standard). Page 2

6 2. Addressing Modbus TCP Data. Note: since we are communicating with Modbus TCP protocol, each drive tag must conform to a standard Modbus address. That is to say that each data point is represented as a 4-series Holding Register. These Modbus addresses are the addresses that you will use for your data tags. Each of the three devices we are working with address tags in a different manner. They are described in detail below. 8 Connecting to Link Tags Data transfer with the Link card is accomplished with the L5352 Ethernet Link Card Block and the Ethernet Reader and Ethernet Writer block implementations. The Ethernet Card block (C_EN.1) is configured to transfer data to and from the Ethernet Writer block (C_ENW.1) and Ethernet Reader block (C_ENR.1). The TS8000 reads data from C_ENW.1 starting at address , and writes data to C_ENR.1 starting at address Should greater connectivity be required, more Ethernet Reader and Writer can be added to the Registers List. The TCP addressing is based upon the block order specified in the list, and continues from the base addresses described above. Page 6

9 3. Add the Data Tags. Navigate to the Data Tags section of DSI8000. Add one Integer tag for each drive on the network, and set up the Mapping selection for each tag up to connect to the appropriate device driver. Address each data tag to read the address from each device. The 4-series Holding Register designation that we used above is defined as a 16-bit Signed or Unsigned Integer. This means that the raw data is represented as either to in the signed state, or 0 to in the unsigned state. If the integer data is required to display decimal values, that data must be multiplied or divided accordingly at the data tag level to expose the decimal values.
