5 1 Chapter 1 General Introduction 1.1 Product Description is a kind of fiber-optic communication device which can use fiber to transport 1~16 E1 signal in the meantime efficiently and can test the used E1 automatically. The flexible circuit test and the indication function has a simple single panel form, which provides 1~4 10M/100M Ethernet ports(optional) and a office phone port (optional), raising applied flexibility also in the meantime enlarge the utilization of the fiber optic. The four Ethernet ports are switching interfaces, 10M/100M self-adapting completely. 1.2 Characters Base on IC of independence intellectual property rights Adopt veneer structure Offer 16 2Mb/s digital interfaces Up to 16 E1 links on one fiber Provides 1~4 Ethernet ports, support 10M/100M self-adapting, support VLAN. On the front panel there is a PH button, press on the PH button on the remote site it will sound. To answer it the remote site just need to press the PH button on the remote unit, the alarm will cut off and just plug in the phone both side able to do the communication. Transparence to TCP/IP protocol, offers security connection between different equipments in the network, used widely in network connection and monitor between WAN and LAN. Ethernet RJ45 port connection: SNMP module(optional) General information The model supports standalone SNMP management. The host can manage any devices with SNMP module that connected to IP network. It supports communication in different net domain. It also supports the following scheme: One master device collocates SNMP managing module, 2~16 collocate SNMP cascade module, realizing centralizing management.

14 10 Standard SNMP protocol, supports MIB all round. Supports V1, V2, V3 SNMP and the function of Protocol Encryption. The number of the devices that supervisory controllable is determined by the number of IP resource only. Supports viewing or setting the parameters via IE browser. Connect the PC to LAN, run the command telnet A.B.C.D( default is ), input c or e when it come to the interface of Chinese/ English opt. input user name and password to for the system to check( default is admin, admin). Then user will enter into the main interface, showing as follows:

20 16 Telnet provide graph interface mode( like the above one) and command line mode( enter from the command mode in the others menu under the graph interface mode.) User can set the IP address and other parameters of the device under the graph mode. And the command line mode is the same with the Console controlling mode. HTTP This system provides simple IE browse mode. Under this mode, user can realize configuration or update operation. Input the IP address of the SNMP card at the browser( default is ) to log on the IE server. The interface of Logging on is as follows:

21 17 Select Chinese/ English at the welcome interface after logging on( default user name is admin, and password: admin). Then it entered into corresponding net page, showing as follows: SNMP software This system provides a set of SNMP Management Software Snmp Manage to operate SNMP card and communication equipment. Please refer to the manual of SNMP software.

22 18 SNMP card software upgrade The SNMP card software is stored in the FLASH. Software upgrade means FLASH programming by SNMP card software upgrade function. It needs software upgrade based on the 2 following situation. One is software upgraded, which means replace the old software in terminal server by new; the other is when the FLASH code destroyed, it could write new with the same version. The update is realized by IE browser and the operation is easy. Open system firmware update in the system update menu of the IE page, showing as follows: Click browse, select update document, then click update. Wait for some minute when update( updating time is according to the size of the document). When presenting complete, reboot the device to make it into effect.

23 19 Note: 1. If the update failed, the device will be destroyed abidingly. Please do it by the factory or under the guidance of technician. 2. Do not browse through net page during updating. Further more, the system will not work normally during update.

29 25 Chapter 4 Operation 4.1 Equipment installation After unpacking and before installation, make sure checking the following: Make sure the package is well. If the package is damaged, contact service office quickly for solution. Check the package according to the product list, if find equipment severe damaged or lack of some components, please contact installation worker or service office of us. Check whether the equipment type meets with the type you ordered. Check whether the component is in integrity. Check the power supply type. 4.2 Quick installation Fasten the Equipment in 19 inch rack with the screws in the equipment package. Use reliable ground connection at GND point of the equipment Use power tab to connect power according to the manual, don t exchange the polarities.

30 26 Create user equipment connecting wire according to your demand, then connected, don t exchange receive and transfer wires. Connect receive and transfer optical with optical receive and transfer port of the equipment. Don t exchange receive and transfer wire, make sure the optical fiber head is clean, insert optical jumper, make sure connection well. (fiber bending radius 50 mm) Use multimeter to test power polarity and voltage, make sure it matches with equipment requirement. After complete installation and make sure it s ok, power on the switch. Check indicator light meet with practice situation (see related part of manual). A clean, steady environment and firm installation should be provided for desktop or wall hanging equipment. 4.3 Cautions about installation Avoid severe liberation and mechanical damage during the process of delivering and installation. Arrange fiber appropriately, fiber bending radius 50 mm. Check voltage and polarity meet with back panel, or it will cause permanent damage to the equipment. Fiber connector can t be contaminated, wipe optical fiber head

31 27 slightly using alcohol, or it will affect transmission. If the fiber connector not butt joint well, it may be cause power decline, adjust fiber connector according to practical situation. The installation location should be convenient for personal passing and equipment movement. The environment should be dry, clean and ventilated well. Essential static-protective is needed during the installation and maintenance, ground the chassis to increase anti-interference capability and prevent lightning strike. Before use the equipment, independence work ground and protect ground should provided, make sure it ground well.
