1 (PCN) Issue Date: June 30 th, 2005 Archive Date: PCN Number: 1492P SECTION 1 - CUSTOMER NOTICE Impacted: DEFINITY ONE, IP600, and S8100 Media Servers. Description of PCN: This notice specifies embedded messaging patch PA030 for DEFINITY ONE, IP600, and S8100 Media Servers. Embedded messaging patch PA030 should be installed on all DEFINITY ONE, IP600, and S8100 Media Servers running software releases R9.5.3 (R009c ) and Communication Manager (R012c ). This patch should only be installed on the software releases listed above and can be installed along with or on top of any other DEFINITY ONE, IP 600, or S8100 Media Server patches. Patch PA030 fixes the following embedded messaging problems: 1. If a subscriber is administered as non-fax-enabled, but receives a fax transmission during a call-answer session, the fax tones are recorded as a voice message. This patch causes the line to disconnect if fax tones are received. 2. If a page error is encountered while receiving a fax after at least one good page has been transmitted, the default is to keep the entire fax message including the bad page. This patch changes the default to discard the entire fax message if a bad page is transmitted. 3. A CWY1 failure causes ports to be taken out of service and remain that way until they are manually restored. This patch includes a fix to automatically attempt to restore these ports via switch maintenance. This allows the ports to be recovered in about 3 minutes instead of being unavailable indefinitely. 4. Out calling consumes all available outgoing ports for a single call. Additionally, schedule restrictions use GMT instead of local time zones to determine when to allow out calling. 5. The AUDIX form display admin does not display any information, including errors, even if there is error information that should be displayed. 6. Interchange E-lists fail when the number of subscribers on the list is too large. The messages to some recipients are delivered, but Interchange treats them as failed, leading Page 1 of 5

2 to multiple copies of the same message. 7. AUDIX networking calls do not get dropped until 5 minutes after the call has been disconnected. 8. Remote Updates take a long time. 9. MMO_DLL messages during patch installation. 10. Processor Occupancy can be driven to 100% due to process looping. 11. MWL activity does not get logged in the Activity log. 12. Out calling fails, alarm VM SOFTWARE6612 is raised, the alarm can t be cleared, and out calling cannot be restarted without restarting AUDIX. 13. Internal CornerStone tools are missing or have problems. 14. Upgrades/restores from R or earlier result in a corrupted AUDIX database. 15. High use of faxing and out calling can lead to frequent AUDIX restarts. 16. Pages can be rejected and no message retained on incoming faxes over a noisy line. This patch adds a new configuration option that allows CornerStone to keep partial pages when this occurs. To activate the option edit the file C:/LucentSoftware/CornerStone/config/mmgr/mmgr_cfg.txt and add or edit the line KEEP_PARTIAL_FAX=1. Once CornerStone is restarted the option takes effect. 17. If AUDIX is halted and restarted it often goes through a second restart that can take 3-5 minutes. Severity Level: Class 3 US / Non-US: Both Hardware or Software: Software Service Interrupting? : YES This patch requires a reboot nice. Recommended to be Installed by: An Avaya AUDIX Tier III engineer should install this patch because there are special installation instructions that must be followed. Reason for PCN: This PCN specifies an embedded messaging/audix patch to address the problems specified in the Description of PCN section of this PCN. Page 2 of 5

3 How to Determine if is Affected: This PCN and patch PA030 apply to all DEFINITY ONE, IP600, and S8100 Media Servers running software releases R9.5.3 (R009c ) or Communication Manager (R012c ). This patch should only be installed on the releases specified and can be installed along with or on top of any other DEFINITY ONE, IP 600, or S8100 Media Server patches. Required Materials: The embedded messaging patch PA030.tar.gz is required. NOTE: No new RFA license file is required. Provisioning Instructions: The embedded messaging patch PA030.tar.gz can be downloaded using the following steps from a browser: 1. Go to and click Downloads 2. Click on S8100 Media Server 3. Then click on Latest Embedded Messaging Patch in the Software Downloads table. 4. Then click on PA030.tar.gz. The MD5 Sum for this patch is 2e3cf829aaa6da53d51dbd1abfd9256c Please contact your Authorized Service Provider if it is recommended that either Avaya or an Avaya Authorized BusinessPartner perform the installation of this PCN and you believe this Notice applies to you.
