1 IxNetwork DHCPv4/v6 Emulation Software IxNetwork DHCPv4/v6 emulation software provides an easy-to-use tool for comprehensive analysis of subscriber management capability of edge aggregation devices and access network. DHCP is an important access technology and is used widely in wireline access, wireless access, data center and many other network segments. By emulating DHCPv4,, and dual-stack DHCP subscribers, as well as running data traffic over them, the testing of various devices, such as Broadband Network Gateways (BNG) and edge routers/switch, are substantially simplified - eliminating the need to configure thousands of individual clients and sessions. Figure 1 - Ixia ports emulate DHCP clients and Servers Key Features High-scale DHCPv4 and client, relay agent, server emulation Support FastEthernet, 1GE, 10GE, 40/100GE, OC-3c/12c ATM interfaces address assignment, prefix delegation and stateless Concurrent DHCPv4 and sessions to emulate dual-stack DHCP subscribers Custom option builder with predefined DHCPv4/ options and capability to define new options Flexible user actions for Renew, Rebind, or Restart failed sessions Scale to hundreds of thousands of subscriber sessions to determine session capacity and session setup rate of a network device Summary, per-port, per-range (DG) statistics and detailed persession (per subscriber) statistics Global and per-port session setup and tear-down rate control with throttling Support unicast/multicast services (eg. OSPF, BGP, IGMP/MLD) over DHCPv4/v6 subscribers Support DHCPv4/v6 subscriber over EoGRE to emulate WiFi offload scenario Full wire-speed layer 2/3 traffic over emulated DHCPv4/v6 subscribers Integrated QoS settings and measurement capabilities in traffic and statistics Stateful traffic support over emulated DHCPv4/v6 subscribers Session flapping support integrated with Test Composer Built-in packet template for other functional and negative testing Integrated Tcl API allows automated tests Agoura Road Calabasas, CA USA Tel Document No.: Rev B December Page 1
2 Next-Generation Protocol Framework (NGPF) Ixia s introduction of its next-generation protocol framework greatly improved subscriber emulation capability. It provides an intuitive graphic user interface to manage complex access network emulation with mixed single- and dual-stack subscribers, as well as mixed subscriber protocols to support triple-play data, voice, and video services. With the flexibility of protocol stacking, it has never been easier to evaluate IPv6 readiness, QoS, and service performance of broadband access devices and access network.
