1 DBSPI Implementation Guide:- 1. Creation of the dbspi user id. The dbspi uses a user id to logging in to DB or to connect. The user id will be created by the DB Team (by raising a sec1 request). For creation of the user id the DB team uses a script provided by us. Please see the details below:- There's a script that Oracle SPI provides (and is already present on all the servers under the path /var/opt/ov/bin/instrumentation) which can be executed to create the user called hp_dbspi. The comment section of the script has instructions to run it. These environment variables are necessary to run from the command line: ORACLE_HOME ORACLE_SID Navigate to the directory: /var/opt/ov/bin/instrumentation If the necessary environment variables are set, then dbspiocr.sql can be run from the command line in any of the following ways: sqlplus sqlplus sqlplus You will be asked "Enter value for 1:". For Oracle 7 and 8 you can just press RETURN, for Oracle 9 you have to type 'as sysdba'. You will be asked "Enter value for 2:" (the default tablespace). For Oracle 7 and 8 you can type 'temp', for Oracle 9 - 'users'. (If users tablespace is not present, then the user id can be assigned to default tablespace) The default user id and passwords can be accepted while running this script." 2. Note: - For our environment skip the step.

2 3. Database Information to be collected: We need some information to configure the DBSPI from our mgmt server tcppapp099. They will provide you the in an excel sheet. The Oracle home is: BSISPRD - /opt/local/bsispdbs/oracle/10g Please configure the policies accordingly. 1. RMAN log policy RMAN log file location: /opt/local/bsispdbs/oracle/10g/scripts/rman/logs/hotbackups /opt/local/bsispdbs/oracle/10g/scripts/rman/logs/coldbackups /opt/local/bsispdbs/oracle/10g/scripts/rman/logs/archive_logs 2.Tablespace monitoring policy Hp open view log files: /opt/local/bsispdbs/oracle/10g/scripts/check/logs/hpopen.log 3. Alert Log and Listener Log Monitoring Policy Alert Log Path: /opt/local/bsispdbs/admin/bdump/alert_bsisprd.log Listener Log Path: /opt/local/bsispdbs/oracle/10g/network/log/bsisprd_listener.log Database is clustered in (TCPPDBS061, TCPPDBS007, TCPPDBS005, and TCPPDBS044). The HP_DBSPI user is also created according to the SEC1.

Add database node (Physical node) and also the virtual node in the node OVO node bank. Then placed the node in their respective node group. Put virtual node in the Oracle-UNIX group. Put all physical node in Oracle-Custom, Oracle- UNIX, solaris, HTTPS Node, OSSPI-Discovery and their respective node group based on their names like if a node name start with tcpxxxx then keep it in the TCP-Solaris node group similarly for others. 5. Tasks for Oracle DBSPI Configure dbspi_oracle.apm.xml with the new collection policies that you have created (/var/opt/ov/share/databases/opc/mgd_node/customer/sun/sparc/solaris7/monitor) in management server. Check for the cluster configuration. To check the cluster configuration on the manage node run the following command sudo /opt/ov/bin/ovconfget grep MONITOR. If the parameter has not set or set to FALSE then set the parameter by running the following command. (This will enable cluster monitoring by setting MONITOR_MODE=TRUE key in conf.cluster namespace of that particular server.) On the manage node issue the command, sudo /opt/ov/bin/ovconfchg -change ns conf.cluster -set MONITOR_MODE TRUE sudo /opt/ov/bin/ovc kill sudo /opt/ov/bin/ovc start

5 If you are adding a new Database server in your environment, do the following task. 6. If the database is in cluster:- * Run the application Cluster Config on all the nodes in the cluster. Then from the UNIX mgmt server Select the node in the node bank and go to, Windows --- Application Bank--- DB-SPI--- Admin--- Cluster Config Once it is run successfully the o/p will look like, If the database is already configured then it will show only one line The task is completed. 7. Assign Discovery and Message Templates to virtual node and deploy it by selecting templates, action, commands, and monitor. 8. Now you required to run the DB Discovery program by selecting node. This is required because the discovery program creates some specific folder or files in on manage node which required by the DBSPI to configure DBSPI Templates to setup the monitoring. DBSPI Discovery program is present in OVO bank go to windows tab --- Application Bank --- here a windows will open which has lists of all the application. Here you will find an icon named DBSPI. Double click on the icon. A new window will open. This window will have the DBSPI Admin and DBSPI Folder or files created by the Discovery program:- a) /var/opt/ov/dbspi Under this file:- i.) defaults

Each of have their importance. i) defaults file have the information, which all the DB are running or online ii) dbtab have the DB/Oracle home path. iii) local.cfg has the information of the DBSPI configuration like userid/password, oracle home path and others. iv) local.lck file is the executable file or have the similar information like the local.cfg. v) tmpxxx.cfg has the information of the errors and warning occurred at the time of DBSPI configuration. 9.
