1 Managing Administrator Preferences Purpose This lesson shows you how to use Grid Control to manage administrator preferences. Topics This module will discuss the following topics: Overview Prerequisites Add a Pager Address Setting Preferred Credentials Determining Notification Rules Defining a Schedule Setting Target Subtabs Adding Metric Columns Place the cursor on this icon to display all screenshots. You can also place the cursor on each icon to see only the screenshot associated with it. Overview Back to List Each user is responsible for setting up their own preferences. In this lesson, you will set them for the super administrator user and regular user you created previously Prerequisites Back to List Before starting this module, you should have: 1. 2 2. Complete the Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using a New Database lesson. 3. Complete the Installing the Oracle Database 10g lesson. 4. Complete the Installing the Enterprise Manager 10g Linux Management Agent lesson. 5. Complete the Postinstallation Configuration lesson. Adding a Pager Address Back to Topic List Since your super user needs to be able to be reached at all times, you will add the pager address. Perform the following steps: 1. 12 Determining Notification Rules Back to Topic List Notification Rules define the targets and when you want to be alerted. A Method is the way Enterprise Manager delivers the alert information. 16 Note : Regular users will see a screen that is slightly different. Regular users will be able to send an for a public rule and also create their own rules. Defining a Schedule Back to Topic List Since you may have a different work schedule, you need to define a schedule so that Grid Control knows how to reach you. 28 Setting Target Subtabs Back to Topic List When working with Targets, there is a set of subtabs to choose from. If you are mostly going to be working with Databases, you may want this subtab to appear first in the list. By default, Hosts is listed first.
