2 RS232 Wiring Hardware Refer to the above, connect the socket of RS232 (male side) cable to the meter, then connect the female socket the COM1 or COM2 COM port. 5 Hardware Requirements and Setup PC HardWare Requirements : HDD, CD Rom, 486 PC or above, with available COM port EGA or higher monitor 4M bytes or more memory size PC HardWare Setup : 1) Switch off all power related to the PC 2) Connect the socket (female) of RS232 cable to available COM port 3) Switch on all related power 4) Connect the socket of RS232 cable to Sound Level Meter 5

6 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS AND SETUP 1) Start up windows operating system 2) Close all application 3) Insert disk in CD drive 1). Wait for Autorun to start and follow on-scree instructions (If autorun does not sart, click on Start then Run. Type the drive letter and :\Disk1\Setup.exe and click OK.) 2). Setup program will run automatically. Click Next> button 6

7 3). a. Click Next> button to setup on the default folder or b. Click Browse button to setup on a different folder 4). Click Next> button 7

9 COMMUNICATING OPERATION Run The Sound Level Meter Software Click "Start" form Start menu and then move mouse pointer to "Programs" then "Elma" and then click the "SoundMeter" icon. Select an available COM port then click OK button 9

11 INNER SETTINGS Real Time Clock : Click to set meter time to system time ID Code Click and then shows a Logger window as below. Highlight the ID Code and then input the willing value then click to complete. 11

12 DATA RECORDING Save Data to EEP ROM Click The Sound Level Meter will begin to record. Save Data to H.D.D. Click. There comes a dialog box as below. Input a willing file name and then click Save button. Click to start recording, to stop recording. 12

13 DOWN LOAD DATA Down load Data from EEP ROM Click. There comes a Logger window as below: Click to get main recorded information as below. 13

14 Select a set and then click ( See below ) if willing to read further details. 14

15 Down load Data from H.D.D. Click. There shows an Open window as below: Input a saved file name and then click Open button to read data saved in H.D.D. 15

16 DATA CONVERT Apply For Excel Open Microsoft Excel, go to "Open File", from the "Open" window, 1).Find the file saved in Excel type, for example, test.xls. 2).From the "Files of type" of the "Open" window, click the pull down pointer, then choose "All Files", find the file already saved in HDD, for example, sample.dat. Choose the selected file then click Open button. 16
