1 Product Setup PKG to PDF Conversion Utility Nelco s Package (PkG) files are no longer viewable in 11.7 due to incompatibility with their DLL (dynamic link library). Since Nelco no longer supports the DLL, all areas creating package files have been updated to create PDF files instead. This effects old saved PKG files that will not be viewable in A package file conversion utility is available for districts that wish to convert older saved PKG files to a universal PDF format. This utility must be run via Fix Programs. NOTE: The conversion process can take a long time, so it is highly recommended to clean up your saved reports before running the utility. Run the Fix Program Navigate to Product Setup > Skyward Contact Access > Tools and select Fix Programs. On the Fix Programs browse select the Add button. Revised: 8/23/18 Page 1 of 7 Version

2 On the Fix Program Maintenance screen enter the following: Program: hemmgutil002.w Description: PKG Converter Popup Width: 500 Popup Height: 200 Select Save. To begin the conversion, highlight the PKG Converter program and select Run. The Convert Save PKG files to PDF prompt displays. Review the prompt information then select the Generate Preview button. The process will run on the print queue. Note: If the conversion is interrupted at any point, due to a server reboot, etc., it can be rerun. It will not create duplicates. 3 When the PKG files have been collected, a PKG Conversion Preview browse will display listing the files. Here you will have an opportunity to review the files to be converted. To check for errors, you can change the Views to show Errors Only and/or scroll to the far right to display the Error column. The preview browse also includes a PDF Preview Link column listing the pdf file. Scroll to the right to access a link to the converted PDF. Click a link to open the file. If the PKG file was a Payroll or AP check you will be prompted for the appropriate district password when you attempt to open the file. Revised: 8/23/18 Page 3 of 7 Version

4 Report Only Select this button to produce a report of the records in the preview. Note the Updated column is set to No. Remove from Conversion This will a remove a highlighted record from the preview and from the conversion process. The original PKG file will remain in the saved reports. A prompt will display to confirm you wish to remove the record from the conversion. Delete Saved PKG This will remove the source PKG from Saved Reports as well as the preview. The source PKG will be removed permanently from the system. A prompt will display to confirm you wish to permanently remove the record from the system. Back Back will cancel the conversion and return you to the previous screen. 5 Run Conversion This will process all the records in the preview into actual Saved Report records as PDF files. The PKG files are cloned and retained and the PDF file created. A prompt will display to confirm you wish to continue with the conversion. Select OK to complete the conversion process. When the process is finished a report is generated. Note the Updated column is set to Yes. To see the PDF Files Navigate to PaC > Saved Reports. Revised: 8/23/18 Page 5 of 7 Version

6 There are now two records for each converted record. To differentiate the files from one another there is a new File Name field below the browse. With a record highlighted you can see which are the original PKG files and which are converted PDF files. The PDF files will also include a comment that it is a Converted PKG file.
