5 FTP backup file to Incoming folder OpenEdge Database Backup Launch Kit For security, Skyward allows for FTPS transmissions using (TLS) v1.1 or greater on port 990. We also allow for SSH\SFTP transmissions on port 22. Standard FTP connections on port 21 will not be allowed. Skyward recommends that you launch an FTP client to connect to the designated \incoming folder Large files should be split into multiple smaller files using applications such as ALZip or 7Zip.

6 Internal vs. External Attachment Storage Pros of external attachment storage No Database growth for attachments Large databases become harder to work with (backup, restore, database utilities all take longer) Large databases are difficult to send to skyward using ftp Cons of external attachment storage Attachments are external and must be backed up separately Second copy of attachments might be needed for training databases PaC users need read/write to the external attachment folder Note: Course Learning Center attachment area has a choice of where attachments are stored; same as database attachments or external to db if db is set to internal storage.

Enter a Location as UNC path in Import or Export Interface Example: \\server\share\folder\file.example The Import From or the Export To folder on a remote server: Needs to Be a Windows or Equivalent File Share Be accessible by/from the Skyward Report Queue server(s) Permissions assigned to the Skyward Service Account Create a local or Domain Account The password must match the Service Account on your Skyward Server(s). All Skyward Services use the Skyward Service Account as the Logon account to the UNC path

17 How do Users get to Exported Files? Let s understand the process. Scheduled Task runs via the Report Queue Service Exported file gets created in folder location. PDF Report gets created in District Print Queue Exports can be scheduled to run once or many times per day Scheduled Task for once and Monitoring Tasks for many. User can view the PDF Report in the Print Queue but can they get to the Share to view the actual file that gets created? Most, if not all users, will not be able to No way of searching for the file from Skyward software Exports are typically for 3 rd party systems, does a user really need to see/receive the contents of the exported file?

18 Do you need to keep the export in the Database? If the answer is yes and the user needs to see the contents of the exported file, check the Save Exported File in Database to View through the Export File Viewer. If the answer is no, do not check this box to Save the file in the database. Keeping files in the database can cause a lot of growth to the database.

27 Skyward Mobile Access The Skyward Mobile Apps are being updated to compare if the product is activated in the software and if the Allow Mobile box is checked on the customer record at Skyward. If both are not checked, then users will not be allowed to use the product. You may need Skyward s assistance to get SkyConnect communicating between the CAS server and the SkyConnect server in Stevens Point WI. 28 Database Full Backup Check Our BI Monitor checks the date on the last full backup. This information is from the VST's (virtual system tables). We would like take advantage of this and have the BI Monitor to send an alert if the last backup is older than XX hours, the default should be 28 hours. We want the field to be customizable so that it can be adjusted if needed, there are some districts that do a incremental backup and a full backup once a week. When an alert condition is met the alert should be sent once every 28 hours to MOD mailbox (do not allow the Mod address to be modified by the customer). It should also get sent to the list of addresses that receive the BI Monitor s.

29 PKG to PDF Convert Utility This utility may be run on either the 10.2 or 11.7 platform. A package file conversion utility is available for districts that wish to convert older saved PKG files to a universal PDF format. This utility must be run via Fix Programs. The conversion process can take a long time, so it is highly recommended to clean up your saved reports before running the utility. PKG to PDF Conversion Utility Documentation

30 PDF Printing Password There was a change made to check printing in PaC. The PaC check printing process now has the same password protection afforded to the checks printed from the Web. This protection requires that another password be entered to print checks. Because of these password changes all checks that are printed in PaC now require a password. All checks, regardless of being Payroll, Accounts Payable, PaC vs. Web will all print using a.pdf file when the organization uses the "Print Engine" format for check printing. The system will utilize the check printing passwords in the hierarchy shown below: Password set on the bank cash account. Password set on the esign setup in PaC. If both of the above are left BLANK, the system will default to the password SKY for all checks. This results in an organization being able to have multiple passwords depending on the specific esign file being used. If you are taking this opportunity to create passwords for these areas, please know that passwords are eight characters in length and are case sensitive. When entering the password during the check printing process, it may appear that the password field is longer than eight characters. This is intentional to not disclose the length of the password. Accounts Payable and Payroll can have different signatures on the same bank cash account, or the organization can decide to have the same signature for ALL checks regardless of cash account and AP vs. Payroll. For an organization to view the checks they must first enter their password while processing the checks. Then after the.pdf file has loaded, they must enter the password again. If this.pdf file is saved and opened later, the same password set at the time this file was generated must be entered again.
