3 DETAILED DESCRIPTION What is Word Processing? It is a computer terminology for typing,formatting Text in a letter,memo,report,book e.t.c.all word Processors are design for producing different kinds of written documents with features like typing,editing,formatting texts. Some of these applications are 1.Microsoft Word 2.Word Pad 3.Text Editor 4.Note Pad 5.Word Processor Lets Work With Word Processor 1.How to open Click on Applications button on task bar. 5 Description of the above figure Title bar It is a bar that situated top of the window which contains file name and application name(like Ms word,note pad etc). Menu bar This bar situated just below the Title bar and contains some of the items like File,Edit,Insert, View etc. Standard tool bar It contains some icons for creating new document,opening document,save etc. Formatting tool bar This tool bar contains some of the formatting tools like Font,style,size,different alignments etc. Scroll bar This bar is used to move the view of work area. Document area This is the pale white space just middle of the window where we can write and edit the text. 3. How to Use? Just type something on it
6 Entering text When you start word processor automatically a blank document will open.that is named as Document 1. You can see a blinking bar (called cursor) on the work space,now you can start typing any thing u like on there and see it on your computer screen. You can Type alphabet,number and also other symbols. Inserting text in between Don't worry if you forgot anything to write between your text,j ust click on the place where you want to write the forgotten text by your mouse click and insert it there by typing your required text.
7 Lesson Plans Science/Technology: Children learn what are the applications used for the writing and editing text based documents like book,letter etc. What you need What to do 1. One or more computers. First ask student and check whom all among them know how to write on computer screen. Then ask all of them about the software application by which one can write make a document on computer. Explain them why word processor is used(like making a poster, writing letter and also saving it forever) and its basic functionality like writing text and editing it. Switch on your computer and show them how to open the word processor. Show them the Title bar, Menu bar, Standard tool bar,formatting tool bar,scroll bar and work space and give them the basic knowledge of all this as it is explained in this chapter. Ask them to write their name and their school.also ask them to insert some text in between that.
