1 WOIS Quick Start Guide This document contains a set of tutorials explaining how to start using WOIS software on HEP (Hydrology Exploitation Platform). The tutorials are sequences of steps taken from user stories and each step is linked to a section of the Software User Manual. 2 Step 4 - Select Data Products (drag and drop products to the Features Basket area) Step 5 - Save Data Package and choose the Data Package Name Step 6 - VNC Web connection to the WOIS VM 6.1 Access Cloud Terradue and Sign in 6.2 Enter on the user VMs area

3 6.3 Select the WOIS VM 6.4 Click on to open a VNC console Note: As an alternative use a VNC client (e.g. VNC Viewer) Step 7 - On the VM and launch QGIS

4 Step 8 - Get Data on WOIS VM using the HEP Plugin 8.1 Click on 8.2 Click on Get Data from TEP 8.3 If is the first time you use this feature the plugin will ask for the user API Key to access to the Data Packages saved on the portal. If the user already inserted the API Key before, the window from step 8.4 will automatically appear To get the API Key go to the HEP portal and access to your profile Access the tab API Key and click Generate your API Key

5 8.3.3 Click on Show API Key and then copy paste it to the 8.2 window 8.4 Select a product or a Data package to download and click Get Data 8.5 Choose the directory to save the Data

6 8.6 Wait for the end of product/data package download Note 1: If some products are not on the cache, the user will be notified to get that products later (typically recently saved data packages) Note 2: If the user intends to change the API Key click on the button Config Step 9 - Run WOIS Workflow with the Data 9.1 Open WOIS by clicking on 9.2 Select the intended workflow on the WOIS main window

7 9.3 For each step of the workflow insert parameters (inputs, outputs, etc.) and click Run Note: There are buttons to navigate through the workflow steps ( < Previous step and Skip step > ) Step 10 - Upload outputs to HEP using the HEP Plugin 10.1 Click on 10.2 Click on Upload Data to TEP

8 10.3 Select the output of the workflow ( raster or vector - not both ) to upload and click Run 10.4 Insert the storage/catalog username and password (mandatory). The remote directory is optional and its function is to organize different outputs uploaded Note: For raster data is possible to generate a quick look (.png) to display over the map on the HEP portal Step 11 - Check the outputs on HEP Webportal (a tab to check the user collection and storage is being implemented by TDUE)

9 Tutorial 2 - Create and Share WOIS Workflows Step 1 - VNC Web connection to the WOIS VM 1.1 Access Cloud Terradue and Sign in 1.2 Enter on the user VMs area 1.3 Select the WOIS VM

10 1.4 Click on to open a VNC console Note: As an alternative use a VNC client (e.g. VNC Viewer) Step 2 - On the VM and launch QGIS Step 3 - Create WOIS workflow 3.1 Select the WOIS tool Create new workflow

11 3.2 Choose a name and a group to the new workflow 3.3 Select a tools (left), define default parameters (right) and test the workflow step by step Step 4 - Test new workflow selecting it on the WOIS main window

12 Step 5 - Share new workflow using the HEP Plugin 5.1 Click on 5.2 Click on Share WOIS workflow 5.3 Search for the new workflow, select it and click Share Note: The new workflow will be uploaded to a shared GitHub repository after the user insert is GitHub Username/Password. A message will pop up to inform if the workflow share was succeed or failed.

13 Tutorial 3 - Create New Model and Execution Through HEP Webportal Step 1 - Launch QGIS locally Step 2 - Create QGIS Model, based on WOIS workflow, on the local QGIS 2.1 Select the tool Create new model 2.2 Select the tools to use on the model and create the model operational sequence Note 1: To upload the outputs to HEP include the tool Upload to TEP at the end of the model ( storage/catalog username and password are not necessary in this case )

14 Note 2: Currently, to build models that use Sentinel-1 data, the input shall be a File instead of a Raster Layer (left figure) and after that shall be included the script Bypass input raster check (right figure). This is to avoid that QGIS checks the input (S1 data is not supported by QGIS) 2.3 Test the model locally by running it on local QGIS ( upload to TEP only works if models are run from the HEP portal). Step 3 - Export QGIS Model to HEP using the local HEP Plugin 3.1 Click on 3.2 Click on Export model to TEP Note: The local version of the HEP Plugin plugin shall be installed locally (replace the processing plugin folder by the updated processing folder) 3.3 Enter the WOIS VM IP, username and password 3.4 Select the new model created and click Export to TEP

15 Step 4 - Run model on HEP Webportal 4.1 Enter HEP Portal and Sign in 4.2 Select WOIS Thematic Application 4.3 Select the model on the portal 4.4 Insert the input parameters (right)

16 4.5 Drag and drop a product to the input data parameter Note: When drag & drop a product check the automatic URL and be sure that format=atom. If not, change it. Products should be drag & drop to Features Basket first. 4.6 Click the button Step 5 - Check the outputs on HEP Webportal 5.1 After a succeed run click on Show results to check the uploaded outputs Note 1: Only png files are displayed over the map, however all the outputs will be accessible through the HEP portal, if uploaded Note 2: The upload to TEP tool offers the possibility to generate quicklooks (.png) to the raster outputs
