Help for MixW4 MixW4 V March-2018 Installation Program Download. Before starting a replacement installation make sure you have saved any files that have been changed since the last installation. A MixW4 release is delivered as a single self extracting installation program file. Download the latest MixW4 installation file from This file must now be unblocked if necessary. Start windows explorer and find the file in your download folder. Select the file and right click. Left click on properties.
If the button Unblock is visible left click on it. Finally click OK.
MixW4 Installation. Before installing MixW4 you must choose which disc layout you want to use. There are 3 basic choices 1. Use the default settings. If you choose this layout you must remember the default settings displayed in the two choice screens. 2. Choose the names and locations of the folders you are going to use for program and data files. 3. Install both program and data files in the same folder. Choose a name and location. Do not use the default program files folder for this option. MixW4 may have problems writing files to this folder. Run the unblocked file as an Administrator
The next screen is where you make your choice of where the Program Files are to be installed.
The Destination Folder in the above screen is for a default installation. 1 in the layout choices above. Change the Destination Folder to your choice (mine is in the text box). 2 in the layout choices above. This could be the Destination Folder for 3 in the layout choices above.
The next screen is where you make your choice of where the Data Files are to be installed. The Destination Folder in the above screen is for a default installation. 1 in the layout choices above. Change the Destination Folder to your choice (mine is in the text box). 2 in the layout choices above. This could be the Destination Folder for 3 in the layout choices above.
Certain actions must take place the first time MixW4 is started after installation. Your callsign must be copied into personal information before you can transmit. A sound card must be selected. If required a previous version of a MixW log book can be imported. The CAT must be configured if required or the PTT method must be input to the CAT information. The waterfall may need adjustment for correct display.

Personal data In this tab you can enter information about your station.
Basic settings Display the transmitted text in the receiving window. The default report. Clear all QSO data when a new callsign is entered. Clear all QSO data when the frequency changes. Setting the time for eqsl. After loading data from the eqsl service, with the same QSO data, there may be a problem of time mismatch in your log and in the sender's log. This setting allows you to mark eqsl in your log as received (if the time difference is within the specified limit). Or he will suggest that you make this relationship as new if the time difference is greater than the specified limit. (All other parameters (type of connection, date,) coincide). 6. Display the flags of countries, or their name, in the log. 7. Select the shape of the cursor to display on the waterfall. 8. Additional tuning lines in RTTY mode.
Configuring Macros There are 3 possible methods of configuring your macros. 1. Use the Edit user macro window. 2. Import and convert macros from a previous MixW release. 3. Edit (with care) the relevant.json file in the {data_root}\macros folder. To get the Edit user macro window either: Select Macros from the Settings tab, find the macro you want to change or create and double click on that row. Or Position the mouse over the macro in the macro bar and right click.
Once the changes are complete click on save and repeat for any further macros to be changed. When all the macro changes have been complete click on Apply and then Save to save the macros to the relevant.json file. Import macros from a previous release. Before starting the import identify the macro file(s) you wish to import and make sure the file(s) in the previous release have.mc extension. If you wish to import the MixMacros.ini file this must be renamed MixMacros.mc.
Select the Macros tab from the Config dialog screen. On this screen click the select which macro set you wish to update. (1) and from this list Now click on Import macros (2) and a file selection message box will be displayed. Once the file has been selected click OK in the message box. The converted macros are now displayed. If you are satisfied click Apply and repeat the Import macros for any other files you wish to import. Once you have completed your imports click Save.
Sound card If your system has multiple audio devices, choose which one you want MixW to use for the TX and RX functions. You can also set the sample rate. A setting of is recommended for the sound card's sample rate. ATTENTION! When using the Kiwi SDR as a second waterfall, the sample rate should be set to 12000
Callbook settings. To use either the QRZ.com or HAMQTH.com callbook service select the Callbook settings tab and fill in your username and password for the service required.
Setting up the eqsl service To use the eqsl service, enter your eqsl Username and Password.
Scheduler Scheduler allows the MixW4 operator to specify an Event by date and time. The Event can be a reminder or a Macro to execute. Selecting Scheduler brings up the Events list. By selecting New or selecting a previously entered outstanding Event and selecting Edit brings up the Event details. Click on OK to save the details.
Click Save to start Scheduler. Any unactioned or repeat activities are copied to the schedule.txt file in the MixW4 data folder Data subfolder in ADIF style format when MixW4 exits.
Band map Allows viewing, back up or modification of the Band map. Select Band map from the Config dialog menu. Band map modification - Minor changes. The United Kingdom's band plans for 40 and 80m do not conform to the issued Band map. The upper end of both bands need adjustment. For each item that you wish to change position the mouse pointer in the box and double click to bring up edit mode. Moving the mouse pointer to a new box and double clicking again will save the previous edit details and select that box.
Once the changes are complete click on Apply then Save to save the changes. Band map backup. Once changes have been made backup the changes. Click on Backup band plan. This brings up a file selection window. Enter the filename. You must enter the.ini file extension. Windows will not do it for you. Click on save and the back up file will be created. The format is the same as the bands.ini file from MixW2/3. Band map modification - Major changes or complete replacement. To make major modifications to a currently installed Band map take a backup of the Band map and use a text editor to make the changes to the saved.ini file. Finally install the newly saved file using Restore band plan... Use the Restore band plan to: install a MixW3 bands.ini file to MixW4 restore a previously saved Band map backup.
Click on Restore band plan. This brings up a warning message box. Click on Yes, or press the y key. A file selection window will be displayed. Select the file you wish to import and click on Save. This file is now imported.
Text settings Select your colour preferences. This setting only applies to the receive/transmit windows at present. Now position the mouse in the item you wish to change and double click. This brings up a colour palette selection window.
Once you have selected the colour click on OK. Repeat for any other items you need to change. Finally click on Apply and then Save. The changes are applied immediately to the windows.
Log import After you save your personal configuration, on the first start up of MixW4 it checks if you have an earlier MixW3 installation. If it detects an earlier installation it now checks for any.log files in the data folder. You will now be given the option to import these files. If you want to skip this step, click - Continue Select the required log and press the button - Import After importing the log you will receive a message about successful import.
Click on OK then Continue. This will now initialise the log display. At this point, if you have imported a log from MixW3, it is recommended you take an ADIF file copy of your log.
Finally take a copy of the MixW4.ini file. Unload MixW4. This is important to save the latest settings. Using Windows Explorer locate the MixW4 data folder, copy MixW4.ini and save in a different location. Restart MixW4 and continue with the CAT configuration.
CAT Configuring the CAT system.
Select the transceiver brand from the Cat list Enter the transceiver model in thename box.
