GAT MT 010 INTRODUCTION 1.2. Short Description The GAT MT 010 is a battery-operated hand-held terminal for use with offline access control. With the GAT MT 010 the access authorisations can be loaded into the offline terminals/locks GAT ST 210, GAT ST 220, GAT ST 225 and TAC LEGIC and all bookings can be read from the terminals/locks for later evaluation. Fig. 1.2 Systemfunktion mit GAT MT 010 Figure 1.2 shows the function of the GAT MT 010 in an offline system. The access authorisations will be defined in the PC software GAT Access or GAT Matrix and then copied to the GAT MT 010 with the supplied USB cable or the USB Card Reader (see chapter "2.2. Store the Door Configurations into GAT MT 010"). On the PC where the GAT MT 010 is connected the GAT ST220 Service and the GAT MT 010 Loader must be running and the PC resp. the service must have connection with the configuration software GAT Access/GAT Matrix. GAT Access/GAT Matrix can be installed on the same PC or on another PC/server in the network. Afterwards the authorisations can be loaded into the terminal or locks on site by using the GAT MT 010 download cable. The authorisation data carriers, which are used by the persons for identification in the access system, are defined in GAT Access/GAT Matrix and assigned to the persons. In the read/write mode the defined data for the data carriers will be transmitted to the GAT 10 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12
INTRODUCTION Terminals 2500 in the system and can there be written onto the corresponding LEGIC data carriers via the connected "GAT Reader" antennas. With existing plants when connecting the MT 010 to a door lock automatically also the current reservations will become selected, these then with the next PC connection again to these to transfer Terms Authorisation Card Electronic badge used by a person for non-contact identification (via RFID reader) in an access control system. Authorisation cards can be of different types (e.g. plastic card in check card format, key tag etc.). For simplification the terms card or authorisation card respectively will be used for all kind of data carrier types. Data Carrier Electronic chip which is embedded in an authorisation card and which stores the data for the identifications. Authorisation Data The authorisation data define which persons have access authorisation on which doors (locks) to which conditions or times respectively. (Electronic) Lock Designates in this manual the electronic door locks GAT ST 220, GAT ST 225 and TAC from GANTNER. These are installed at the doors which shall be access controlled (e.g. door or turnstile). Such an electronic lock will then lock and unlock the door depending on the identification and authorisation. Unlike a terminal an electronic lock has the control electronics and unlocking mechanics installed usually in the same housing/place. Terminal A terminal is similar to an electronic lock of GANTNER but at a terminal the unlocking mechanics and the control electronics are usually installed separately. In this manual the terminal GAT ST 210 will be used for the offline access control. HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12 11
INTRODUCTION Door The term "door" will be used in this manual as combined umbrella term for lock and terminal. For example to configure a door means to configure the terminal or lock that is mounted at the door. Access Control System Comprehends all devices (locks, terminals), data carriers and software which are necessary to perform the access control in a facility. 12 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12
CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS 2. CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS 2.1. Configure Doors The single doors (locks and terminals) are configured in the GAT Manager software at the PC and copied into the doors via the GAT MT 010. Following is a short description how the doors are configured. You can find a detailed help about the configuration of the doors in the online help of GAT Manager. Fig Main Window of GAT Manager Define TCP/IP Channels In the main window of GAT Manager in the door list mark the first entry "Communication Channels". Next mark the entry "TCP/IP Communication" in the device library and add it to the door list by clicking on "< Add device". HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12 13
CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS Fig. 2.2 GAT Manager Communication Channels The window "TCP/IP communication settings" will be displayed automatically. Fig. 2.3 TCP/IP Communication Parameter Here the name (e.g. "Offline Doors"), the port to be used (this must not be used by the PC yet) and the IP address of the PC where GAT ST220 Service is installed, must be entered here for the new channel. If the service is installed on the same PC as GAT Manager enter "localhost". Confirm the entered data with "OK". Add New Door In the main window mark the TCP/IP channel to which you want to add a new door (here "Offline Doors"). Next select the entry "GAT Terminal 1002 (ST2xx/TAC/2500)" in the device library on the right side and click onto "< Add device". 14 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12
CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS Fig. 2.4 GAT Manager Add New Offline Door A new window will be opened where information about the new door have to be entered. Fig. 2.5 GAT Manager Settings for New Offline Door Enter a "Name" for the new door (e.g. "Offline Cylinder 100"). The address must be unique because the doors (locks and terminals) will be identified by these addresses. Mark the device type "ST2xx/TAC" in order to define a new offline door. The serial number is only of importance at online devices and can be ignored. With these steps you can ad the other doors as well. Now every door must be configured. Therefore click with the right mouse button onto an added door in the door list and select "Configuration" from the context menu. The following window will be opened. HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12 15
CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS Fig. 2.6 GAT Manager Door Configuration Enter the unlocking time in seconds. This time determines for how long the terminal/lock unlocks the door after a valid identification. Mark the operation mode of the door. See also table 4.1 at the description of the configuration (chapter 4.3.2). For a GAT ST 210 it is possible to configure the two status inputs (optocouplers) by means of the button "Input Configuration". It is possible to select a function for every input and to enter a designation for the inputs. Fig. 2.7 GAT Manager Configure Inputs of a GAT ST 210 Note: A further description of the functions and settings when adding new doors can be found in the online help of GAT Manager. 16 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12
CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS 2.2. Store the Door Configurations into GAT MT 010 After the offline doors are configured, the settings are copied to a GAT MT 010 and the GAT MT 010 can then be used to transfer the settings on site into the offline doors. There are two software tools, which are used to transmit the configurations. - The "GAT ST 220 Service" is a Windows service running in the background. This service handles the communication with GAT Manager, to process and prepare the offline configuration data for transfer to a GAT MT 010. The GAT ST 220 Service is installed on the same PC/server where GAT Manager is running. - The "GAT MT 010 Loader" is a tool to copy the configuration data, prepared by the GAT ST 220 Service, into a selectable folder. These data can then be copied to a GAT MT 010 directly or via a SD card. The GAT MT 010 Loader can be installed on the network in a directory with full access rights for all network users that use the tool. It is then possible to start the tool from any PC with access to this directory. The following steps describe, how to load the offline data onto the GAT MT 010. Generally there are two different possibilities: a) 32-bit Windows: 1. Install the supplied USB driver for the GAT MT 010. Note: If the GAT MT 010 is connected the first time, a request for USB driver installation will be displayed. You can find the driver on the supplied driver CD. 2. If the GAT MT 010 is connect to the PC with the USB driver installed, the GAT MT 010 will be recognized and the configuration data will automatically be copied from the PC to the GAT MT 010. On the screen the following window is displayed: Fig. 2.8 Configuration Data are copied to the GAT MT 010 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12 17
CONFIGURATION OF THE DOORS 3. After successful data transmission the following green window will appear on the screen: Fig. 2.9 Configuration Data are copied successfully to the GAT MT 010! After copying the configuration the GAT MT 010 has to be switched off and on in order to activate the copied data! b) 64-bit Windows or if the USB interface is incompatible with the GAT MT 010: 1. The USB driver doesn t work with 64-bit Windows. In this case the supplied USB card reader can be connected to the PC. No driver needs to be installed. 2. Turn the GAT MT 010 off and eject the SD card. Insert the SD card into the USB card reader. 3. Start "GAT MT 010 Loader". On the Windows status bar you will then see the icon of the loader. 4. Click with the right mouse button onto this icon. From the popup menu select the menu item "Copy data to directory..." and then select the root directory of the SD card. 5. Next you can transfer the saved data onto an SD card. 6. Insert the SD card into the GAT MT 010. Now the configuration data can be written into the locks/terminals directly on site at the respective doors. Note: In case of errors (e.g. cables not connected) a red window with a corresponding error message will be displayed. 18 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12
PROGRAMMIERUNG DER DATENTRÄGER 3. PROGRAMMING THE DATA CARRIERS 3.1. Authorisation Configuration In the GAT Access software the authorisations for the persons, which shall be identified in the access control system, will be configured. A unique data carrier will be assigned to each person. In the read/write mode the authorisation information will be written directly onto the data carriers of the persons. This can be done directly at the PC with a read/write station GAT Writer or via a GAT Terminal In the last case the authorisations will be transmitted to all GAT Terminals 2500 in the access system and the data carriers can then be programmed on site directly at those terminals (see 3.2) Programming Data Carriers (Read/Write Mode) Fig. 3.1 Configuration of authorisation data carriers at GAT Terminal 2500 Hold a data carrier that shall be programmed in front of the antenna of a GAT Terminal The system recognises the data carrier and writes the corresponding access authorisation onto it. During the writing process the LED at the antenna will flash alternately red and orange. After writing the data carrier the LED will be switched to red again and the data carrier can be used from now on as access badge in the facility. Note: If the data carrier is removed too early from the antenna, before the writing process is finished, a peep sound will be generated. You will then have 30 seconds to hold the data carrier back into the antenna field before the writing process will be cancelled. HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12 19
OPERATION GAT MT OPERATION GAT MT Generally The GAT MT 010 can be operated with two 1.5 V AA batteries (alkali). Use only leak-proof safe batteries! In order to save battery the GAT MT 010 is switched off when not in use. Before a communication can take place, the GAT MT 010 must therefore be switched on. This takes place by pressing the home key for some time. During the start-up the Gantner Logo will be displayed. After that the start screen will appear and all stored locks will be listed, i.e. all doors will be shown which have been configured in GAT Manager and for which data have been copied onto the GAT MT 010. Fig 4.1- Start Screen of the GAT MT 010 Note: Following the term "door" will be used for a lock or terminal respectively, which gets connected to the GAT MT 010. So when you read "downloading data to a door" it means that the lock or terminal respectively, that is connected to the door, will be downloaded. The battery symbol on the bottom left side shows the current state of the batteries. If the GAT MT 010 is operated with a power supply unit, the battery symbol will not be indicated. The symbol shown in the figure 4.1 means that the battery will soon be empty and should be replaced or recharged as soon as possible. 20 HB_GAT-MT010_EN_12
