4 Cart Setup 1. Connect the red and blue Cat5 cables to the red and blue jacks. The connector plate is located inside the back of the cart (see figure). 2. Connect black AC cord and AC outlet into Floor Box. 3. Turn on all cart equipment. 4

5 4. Wait for AMX master on cart to have one flashing green light before using the remote. 5. Ensure the monitor on the cart is on and all monitors in the courtroom are on. 6. The cart is now ready to use. 5

6 Laptop Instructions 1. Connect the VGA cable from the laptop plate on back of cart, to the laptop VGA output. 2. Connect the audio cable from laptop plate to the headphone jack on the laptop. LAPTOP LAPTOP PLATE Computer VGA Connector VGA IN Computer Audio Out Connector AUDIO IN 6

8 AMX Panel Verification Page When the panel is initialized, the panel verification page will be displayed. Ensure that the cart number on the screen matches the number on the panel and the number on the cart. Note: The document cart will not work if the panel does not match the cart! Select the OK button and the Source Select Screen will be displayed. 8

9 Source Selection The buttons on the Source Select page represent the sources that are available on the presentation cart, the Utility Menu and the System OFF button. Utility Menu Available Sources System OFF 1. Press one of the source select buttons. The carts audio and video will switch to the source you selected and the remote will show the controls for the selected device. 2. Press the system off button the panel will display the systems off page. 3. turn off the document camera,vcr and dvd. The remote will switch back to the verify cart page. 4. Press the utility menu button the remote will switch to the utility page. For more info see utility page. 9

10 VCR Controls The VCR Controls Page has common VCR comands; Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind and Fast Forward. If the VCR is in play the Rewind and Fast Forward control buttons become fast forward scan and rewind scan. Refer to the VCR users manual for more detailed operation of these controls.. 1. Select VCR from the Source Page and the remote panel switches to the VCR Controls page. 2. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the Source Select page. 10

11 Laptop The Laptop page contains a list of instructions on how to connect your laptop. 1. Select Laptop from the Source Page. The remote goes to the Laptop page. 2. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the Source Select page. 11

12 Presenter Controls The Doc Camera source button has two pages associated with it, the Presenter Controls page and the Presenter Advanced Controls page. The Presenter Controls page has common document camera controls; Zoom In, Zoom Out, Focus In, Focus Out, Iris Open, Iris Close, Upper Light, Lower Light and Lights Off. Refer to the document camera users manual for more detailed operation of these controls. 1. Select Doc Camera from the Source Page. The remote goes to the Presenter Controls page. 2. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the Source Select page. 12

13 Presenter Advanced The Presenter Advanced page allows the user to capture and store images from the document camera. The document camera can hold up to eight documents in memory. The user can also adjust the white balance and color balance of the camera. 1. Select the Presenter Advanced Controls button on the Presenter Controls page and the Presenter Advanced page will be displayed. 2. To save a document to memory, press and hold button #1 until you see the word Save in the right hand corner of the document carts monitor. The document is saved to memory location #1. Repeat this step for memory locations

14 Presenter Advanced cont. 3. To recall a saved document, press button #1 quickly and the saved document in memory location #1 will appear on the documents monitor. Repeat this step for memory locations Select the All button to see thumbnails on the document carts monitor of all documents stored in memory locations Select the Camera button to view the live document camera on the document carts monitor. 6. Select the AWC button (automatic white and color balance) is if the color of the document needs adjustment. 7. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the Presenter Controls page. 14

15 DVD Controls The DVD source button has two pages associated with it, the DVD Controls page and the DVD Advanced Controls page. The DVD Controls page has common DVD controls; Play, Pause, Stop, Search Forward and Search Reverse. Refer to the DVD users manual for more detailed operation of these controls. 1. Select DVD from the Source Select page and the DVD Controls page will be displayed. 2. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the Source Select page. 15

16 DVD Advanced The DVD Advanced page has common DVD menu function controls. Note: Due to the many ways a DVD can be authored, all buttons on the remote may not respond the same for different DVD s. 1. Select the DVD Advanced Controls button from the DVD Controls page and the Advanced DVD Controls page will be displayed. 2. Select the Top Menu or Menu button to display the DVD menu on the cart monitor. 3. Select the up, down, left, right and enter buttons navigate through the DVD menus. Some DVD s require pressing the Return button instead of the Enter button. 16

17 DVD Advanced cont. 4. Select the Open/Close button to operate the DVD tray. 5. Select the Rept button to repeat the DVD clip. 6. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the DVD Controls page. 17

18 JAVS Document Cart Utility Menu The Utility Menu can provide options for external and internal controls on the document cart. It also provides information on battery life of the internal battery of the remote AMX panel. 1. Select the Utility Menu button on the Source Select page and the Utility Menu will be displayed. 2. Select the Exit button and the remote panel switches to the Source Select page. 18

19 JAVS Document Cart Utility Menu cont. 3. Select External Buttons and the Cart Volume page will be displayed. 4. Use the physical buttons on the AMX panel to raise or lower the document cart volume. 5. Select the Return button and the Utility Menu will be displayed. 19

20 JAVS Document Cart Utility Menu cont. 6. Select the Panel Brightness button and the AMX panel brightness/contrast page will be displayed. 7. Use the Brightness/Contrast up and down buttons to adjust for comfortable panel viewing. 8. Select the Exit button and the Utility Menu will be displayed. 20

21 JAVS Document Cart System Off The System Off button provides a convenient way to power down the cart with a couple of button pushes. 1. Select the System Off button on the Source Select page and a Power Down Cart page will be displayed. 2. Select the No button and the panel will display the Source Select page. 3. Selecting the Yes button will turn off the Document Camera,VCR and DVD. The remote panel will display the Panel Verification page. 21
