Home Page/Landing Page click the University of New Mexico link to return to the Application Navigator Icon 4. Sign Out Click this link when closing Application Navigator 5. Online Help This link becomes available when there is help available for the page you are currently viewing; this will also display information about the page. 6. Search Box Enter the Banner acronym or descriptive text for a Banner form and click enter or click on the page name you would like to access 7. Keyboard Shortcuts These are keyboard shortcuts for Application Navigator. An extensive list of keyboard shortcuts can be found below. Page 1 of 9
2 BASIC PAGE NAVIGATION PARTS OF A PAGE 1. Basic Navigation Header a. Menu icon b. Search Icon c. Recently opened icon displays all recently opened Banner pages d. Home Page link e. Online Help Icon 2. Page Header a. Close icon (X) b. Banner page name c. Related Menu Button- displays a list of related pages, similar to the options menu in Banner 8 d. Tools Menu- refresh, export, print, clear record, item properties, display e. Notification Center (displays warning messages, information messages and error messages) 3. Key Block contains key information 4. Sections Pages are divided into sections (previously blocks for Banner 8) 5. Section Navigation Functions arrows for navigating through sections and notifications about field names and page information Page 2 of 9
3 MY BANNER MENU PERSONLIZATION A My Banner menu allows you to save your most used Banner Pages or Banner Quickflows to a personal menu accessible from the menu icon (CTRL + M) on the any Banner page. Banner 9 also allows for a My Banner menu to be copied between staff members. Follow the instructions below to set up a My Banner menu. 1. Go to the GUAPMNU page. 2. Click into the Object Type box in order to begin searching for your forms/pages. You can use the arrows to scroll through the Banner Form names or you can use the Filter function (F7) to narrow down your search. Page 3 of 9
4 3. If filtering the list of Banner forms, enter in a Banner Form name (acronym) or enter a description of a Banner form. Click Go or F8. 4. Double click on the pages you want to appear in My Banner and click the Insert Selection button. Click Save (F10) Page 4 of 9
5 5. You will need to logout and log back in to see the My Banner menu appear. 6. Shortcut: You can copy a My Banner folder from one user to another using GUTPMNU. Page 5 of 9
6 LOOK UP FUNCTION 1. The Look Up function pulls up a list of possible values. If a field has a required value it will have an asterisk (*) next to the field name. 2. You can Filter this list, filtering instructions can be found in the next section of this guide. 3. You can use the next page arrow to access more values and change the number of values listed per page. 4. Each section can be sorted by clicking on the section header name. 5. Once you have selected your value, click Select. You can also double click the value and it will populate to the field on your Banner form. Page 6 of 9
7 FILTERING DATA You can filter the data in a section when there is an active filter icon in the section header. If filtering, choose a field to filter your search, choose an option from the contains drop-down list. Click Go or F8 to execute the search. Page 7 of 9

9 TIPS, TRICKS AND BEST FEATURES Best Feature: Zoom in Banner CTRL = increase zoom (essentially ctrl with +) CTRL decrease zoom CTRL 0 reset zoom to 100% These are all web shortcuts (not new Banner shortcuts) but because Banner 9 is not on Oracle forms, these shortcuts actually work now. Trick: Copy My Banner menu from one user to another using GUTPMNU. A way to acclimate new staff quicker. Tip: Export Data from Banner under the Tools menu (previously under the Help menu in Banner 8). Tip: Banner 9 works best in a web browser other than Internet Explorer. Try Mozilla, Chrome or Safari if using a Mac. Tip: when conducting Queries % and _ are wildcards. Percent is any number of characters %Q% = any form with a Q Underscore is a single character Q% = any form with a Q in 3 rd position Trick: Use the Related Menu to access pages and functions related to the Banner page you are using.
