1 Here is a basic guide for encoding with CCE. The CCE encoding process is much faster then ReMPeg. You only need to use this method if you have to shrink the movie. You will need a Ripper, such as DVD-Decrypter. You will need to rip the movie doing IFO processing. Preferably as a solid ac3 and m2v file First you need to run DVD2AVI to make a d2v project file. 1. Load DVD2Avi then go to File>Open.

2 On the open file dialog page browse for your movie. 1. Select the movie file. *.m2v that you wish to shrink. 2. Click Open to open the Movie.

3 You will see a File List box, this will allow you to add multiple parts should you have ripped it that way. Using a single part is the most simplistic approach. Once you have all the parts loaded Click OK

4 1. Now that your movie is loaded go to File>Save Project

5 Now you must choose where you want to save the project file *.d2v 1. Set the desired project file name 2. Save the project. It might take as long as 3 minutes or so to process the movie file, once it is done saving the project file, exit DVD2AVI.

6 Now that you have a project file you are ready to run the VFAPI Reader on it. 1. You need to load your project file by clicking add project

7 1. Select your project file you saved with DVD2AVI 2. Open it.

8 You should see this screen. Just accept the defaults, click OK to continue

9 You will see your project files in this window. 1. Press Convert to write a file to fake the movie as an AVI.

10 You will see the percent complete, as it progresses, this very fast. It should take less than 30 seconds to generate the fake VPAPI movie file.

11 Once this process is complete you can exit VFAPI Reader and then launch CCE.

12 CCE is an extremely fast Video Encoder. 1. Right-Click in the box to add an AVI file.

13 1. Click Add to bring up an Open dialog box to search for your movie file.

15 Under options on the Main form Options menu you can set your MPEG-2 stream to use the m2v extension instead of mpe

16 Now that your movie file is loaded. 1. High-light your movie file 2. Right-Click edit, so that you can bring up the movie properties.

18 Here is a shot of the drop down box of the Encoding Modes available. You can optionally do a multi-pass VBR. CCE allows a three-pass encode. I am not sure how this affects file size at this time. Watch for calculator updates, and updated guide.

19 Two pages ago you could set destination. Here is a screenshot of the video output dialog box to do so. You eventually need an m2v extension for maestro. If you set it under options to use the m2v extension you won t have to do it again. Optionally you can rename the file when CCE finishes encoding. 1. Set your file & path for your destination file. 2. Save it.

20 Here are the video settings. I have been setting the DVD Compliant option each time, and Set the Aspect Ratio to 4:3 or 16:9 as needed.

21 Once everything is saved and you apply the settings you are now ready to encode. 1. Just click encode to start the encoding process.

You should see it encoding now. I would recommend that you set the priority for the process low, should you decide you want to do anything else on your computer while it is encoding.

Setting the priority to low will not really effect the overall encoding time. It will just make your computer usable for other stuff while you are encoding. You have to bring up task manager to do so. This is a feature of an NT family operating system such as NT, 2000, and XP.
