1 Good Mobile Messaging Server Version (SQL Version) Good Mobile Control Server for Microsoft Windows Exchange Reverting to an Earlier Good for Enterprise Version Updated 03/29/16 Overview... 1 Reverting to an Earlier Good Mobile Control... 1 Reverting to an Good Messaging Server Version... 3 Reverting Type C Clusters... 7 Overview This note documents the steps to take to downgrade (uninstall current, reinstall previous) from Good Messaging Server Version (SQL Version) to an earlier Good Messaging Server Version 8.1 or 8.2 version, and from Good Mobile Control Server to an earlier version. In some cases, administrators will prefer to upgrade their Servers to Version 8.3.x/2.7.0 while maintaining a strategy that allows them to revert to their current Server version smoothly in the event that difficulties are encountered. Notes: If a Server is downgraded, the latest Server s new features will no longer function on the current Client. The procedures described in this note for server uninstall and reinstall are not recommended for general use. Client downgrades are not recommended and are not supported. Reverting to an Earlier Good Mobile Control 1. Uninstall Good Mobile Control version While uninstalling GMC, a Are you uninstalling to downgrade? dialog is displayed. Answering Yes will downgrade the GMC database to the database version that it was last upgraded from (any new tables/columns in the new version will be dropped). Answering No will not touch the database. Therefore, if you are uninstalling to go back to a previous version, then answer Yes. If you are uninstalling and will be reinstalling with the same or a newer version of GMC, then answer No. 1

2 Note: We recommend that you uninstall GMC with the same account used to install it. 3. Re-install the earlier Good Mobile Control Server with the same GoodAdmin service account for both Good Mobile Messaging Server and Good Mobile Control Server. 2

3 Reverting to an Good Messaging Server Version 1. To downgrade the GMMS database schema, uninstall the GMMS. You will be asked if you want to downgrade. 2. For a downgrade to version 8.2, click on No. The GMM Server will be downgraded. For a downgrade to version 8.1, click on Yes. The rest of this procedure pertains to a version 8.1 downgrade. 3

4 For a Yes answer, the following screen is displayed. 3. For a version 8.1 downgrade, click Next to continue with the downgrade. The Database Schema Downgrade screen is shown. 4

5 4. For version 8.1 downgrade, be sure to back up the database before downgrading. After you have backed up the database, check the I have backed up the database box and click on the Start button, then wait for the downgrade to complete. The SchemaMigrator tool is launched to revert the database to the selected version. The tool s output is shown in the text box and the progress bar shows the status of the migration. The successful downgrade screen is as follows. 5

7 Reverting Type C Clusters When reverting a Type C cluster, handle the servers in the following order 1. Uninstall standby GMM 2. Reinstall standby GMM 3. Uninstall primary GMM 4.
