The power supply for the DVR is DC 8-32V. Check battery power before use. 2. Turn off the power when not use the device for a long time. 3. 6 1. Specifications This device is specially developed for vehicles video surveillance and remote monitoring. It adopts embedded processor and embedded Linux operating system, combines the latest technology in the IT filed such as H.264 audio and video compression/decompression technology. It uses SD card as storage medium, which can realize 4-ch CIF, HD1, D1, 960H, 720P format audio/video and vehicle driving information recording function. Its structure adopts special anti-vibration technology. This product has good shock resistance, heat resistance and stability. It can be widely applied to various types of vehicles. Alarm output optical alarming drawing is as follows. MDVR alarm output 24V 3. Remote Controller 3.1 Remote Controller Keypad There is no direct control button on MDVR s panel. 13 1. Number: 0-9 : Under the configuration mode, 0~9 are used to choose numbers; under the playback and preview modes, 1, 2, 3 and 4 are used to switch channel. 2. Set menu navigation:, : the up, down cursor arrow key, : the left, right cursor arrow key OK : For choosing and saving in the state of setting. 3. Other function keys: In the preview screen, press this key, the device will shut down (soft-off SHUTDOWN/STAN key) or enter to standby status. DBY LOGIN If MVDR has password, press this key before enter the password. Please keep the password in mind because the system doesn t have restore and reset functions. If MDVR doesn t have password, login to main menu by pressing this key. INFO Number1,2,3,4 View information. Quickly view the configuration information of GPS, 3G and other modules. Pressing number 1, 2, 3, 4 to switch to CH1,CH2,CH3,CH4 single display respectively. In monitoring screen, this key is used for the switch between 4 channel 田 FWD display and 9 channel display. Pressing this key to choose CH1~CH4 4 screens displaying. Apart from the function of moving left, this key is the fast forward playing key when playback video files. 14 Pause key and play key when playback video files. PAUSE/PLAY Apart from the function of moving right, this key is the reverse playing REW key when playback video files. There are six levels: 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X, 32X, 64X. PTZ ESC PTZ function key (according to device model). ESC key, for returning to the previous submenu. And finally quit main menu to monitoring screen. 3.2 Soft Keyboard Input When the system is under the character input state, digits, Alphabet letters and Chinese characters can be input. Pinyin input method is provided for Chinese characters input. Right click Pinyin / ABC / 123 on right to switch input methods. 4. Its meaning is as follows, :54:34 System time CHx Channel name REC Video Recording NO DISK No video recording 4.2 User Login After connecting to power, press LOGIN on remote controller to enter login interface (no password before delivery) Device ID : User sets different numbers for different devices. 16 prompt input correct password will appear. 4.3 Main menu All the menu items refer to the following functions, SEARCH : Search SD card storage files for playback operation. RECORD : Set audio and video parameters and mode. BASIC : Set alarm, platform, time, network. INFO : Display serial number, version number, MAC address information. VEHICLE : Set vehicle number, on/off timing DISPLAY : Set monitoring pictures and recording content, including display information, color, area, volume. PASSWORD : Set password. 17 4.4 Record Search Record search interface provides search, playback and backup functions to the files saved in the Copyright Hao Nai Industrial Co., Ltd. 12

18 HDD. There are 3 searching modes for option, including fast precise timing positioning, time period recording status browse and detailed video files browse. Operation Instruction: 1. Enter to video search interface. Search files from current time directly, then video files can be browsed or playback. 2. Fast precise timing search mode: Input recording date and time (Default is the last minute before entering to search interface) Recording state is marked with colors. Red is the alarm recording. Green is the normal recording. No color is the time period without recording. The unit of monthly recording is day. The unit of daily recording is half an hour. Choose the video file in file list, can directly replay the video during this time period. 3. Detailed video file browse search mode: If search time period videos, click file list, open file list interface, the list of video files with selected date is shown, and can be browsed on page. The content includes starting time, ending time, file size and video types of recording files. You can filter the files according to the video types. 19 4.4.1 Files and Backup The files are well listed according to order of channel and recording time for easy searching. 1. Backup files are saved in USB disk/ SD card root directory RecordFile/ Catalog. 2. During backup, it will pop up status window to show backup progress. 3. After backup, pull out the backup device directly. 4. If the free space of backup device is smaller than video file size, it will prompt Space low. Copyright Hao Nai Industrial Co., Ltd. 14

20 5. If cannot detect USB disk or SD card, it will prompt Without USB/ SD card 6. During backup, pull out USB or SD card is not allowed Playback 1. Play mode: Single channel playback. 2. 21 4.5 Recording Setting Frame Rate Dynamic Setting Recording working modes, audio and video parameters setting for all channels can be set from record setup interface. 22 rate, picture quality and audio recording on/off. Video pack time and recording modes are as follows: 1. CHANNEL / RECORD : On/Off switch selectable, select if the channel needs recording. 2. RESOLUTION : 720P, 960H, D1, HD1, and CIF 3. BIT RATE : High, medium and low for option. Low bit rate can meet normal requirement. If the bandwidth of network is wide enough, high or medium bit rate can be also selected. Different resolution corresponds to different bit rate. 4. FRAME RATE : 1~25/30 for option. The higher frame rate is selected, the more fluently video replays, the larger space it occupies. When click OK button, the system will automatically calculate if the encoding resource exceeds the total resource according to frame rate value, if the space is not enough, it will prompt user and return to video setting interface. 5. QUALITY : 1~6 for option. The lower value, the best picture quality 6. AUDIO : On/Off, set DVR audio recording or not. 7. REC. SIZE : 3Minutes, 5 Minutes, 15 Minutes, 30 Minutes, 45 Minutes, 60 Minutes, 90 Minutes, 120 Minutes, used to set time length of the video files. 8. REC. MODE : Select power up recording or timer recording. Select power up recording (Default), automatically record after start-up. Select timer recording, it will pop-up timer recording setting button, you can set the video recording time. 23 1. Recording period setting unit can be week or hour for all channel recording. 2. It can resume to the default setting. Under default setting, system continuously records videos 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Recording Timing Setting Operation: 1. Channel: Select the same setting for all channels or different setting for each channel. 2. Recording mode: Select Alarm recording (Red)/ General recording (Green)/ Manual recording (Background color). 3. Choose a recording mode, then click time box, the color of time box will become same as the color of current recording mode, which means this time period will record according to the chosen recording mode. 4. Fast setting: Copy in days. For example, require to record the whole day on Saturday, general recording from 9:00-16:00, alarm recording from 0:00~8:00, and 17:00~23:00 on Sunday to Friday. Setting is as follows: Channel Select all. Choose alarm recording, will show in alarm box. Move cursor to SUN., click all boxes from 0~8 and 17~23 time period, the boxes turn red. Choose SUN. to ALL, click copy button, complete the setting from SUN. to FRI. 25 4.6 Basic Setup ALARM : Set all alarm input on/off, alarm input parameters, alarm linkage setting, alarm output parameters, setting, camera shelter alarm setting, motion detection setting. PTZ : Set PTZ parameters DATE/TIME : Set date, time, DST. DISK : Display hard disk state, provide SD card, and USB disk formatting functions. MAINTAIN : Re-start device, upgrade system, resume to the default setting. NETWORK : Network setting, mobile phone access setting SYSTEM : Set camera system, channel cycle time, system language. 26 4.6.1 Alarm Setting 1. Correspond to I/O alarm input 1-4; refer to chapter 2.2 Back Panel and Interface Introduction. There are 3 options for level trigger setting: High: Trigger high level alarm. Low: Trigger low level alarm. Shut-off: No alarm 2. Disk failure alarm setting, Disk low space setting: Disc failure alarm: Alarm when there is no disk or disk is unable to be defined. Disk low space alarm: Alarm when there is no space for recording. 3. Alarm Disposal Setting: Alarm output: When an alarm is triggered, output alarm signal to external device, such as alarm bell, output time 0~60 seconds for option. Buzzer: When an alarm is triggered, Buzzer alarm 0~60 seconds for option Recording delay: When an alarm is triggered, delay alarm video recording time from 15 seconds to 5 minutes for option. 27 Advance recording: Set pre-recording time when an alarm is triggered, setting range from 0~15 seconds Time Setup 1. Time setup interface is used to set system time. Details are as follows: DATE : year/ month/ date DATE FORMAT : Select MM/DD/YY or YY - MM- DD TIME : Current time, hour/ minute/ second TIME FORMAT : Select 12 hours or 24 hours DST : Select on/off. If summer daylight saving time setting switch is selected on, it will show summer time setting options. 2. Summer time setting options include: DST MODE : Select default or user defined. The range of system default summer daylight saving time is from the first Monday of January to the third Friday of October. User also can define the summer daylight saving time range by himself. 3. GPS Auto timing GPS Timing : Click to correct time according to current effective GPS information Auto Timing : If select Auto Timing, device will automatically search GPS effective value and Copyright Hao Nai Industrial Co., Ltd. 22

28 correct time accordingly when it is turned on every day Management of Storage Device 1. Display device storage status, volume size, available space, and available recording time. 2. When the storage space is full, the earliest recording file will be automatically overlapped by the latest recording file. 3. Format setting for storage devices (SD card) 4. Format setting for spare devices (SD card/ USB disk) 5. Overlapping general recording days can be defined. Alarm recording days can be reserved for a long time. 29 4.6.4 System Maintain and Upgrade AUTO RESET : On/Off. Device will not automatically reset when set off. If on, device will automatically reset according to time settings. It is used to restart device for protection and maintenance. SETTING : Maintenance time. Frequency can be day, week or month. Time can be set as hour and minute. For week, require to set which weekday. For month, require to set certain day. DEFAULT SETTING : Click the default setting, all settings will be restore to factory reset, but do not affect log files and video files. RESTART : Reset software PARAMETER IMPORT : Click parameter import, system will automatically scan specific files saved in ConfigFile in USB disk or SD card, import new data and overlap previous data. PARAMETER EXPORT : Click parameter export, system data will be copied to ConfigFile in USB disk or SD card. STANDBY : Click standby, the device will enter to standby status. 30 System Upgrade 1. Copy the upgrade files to updatedvr in USB disk or SD card. 2. Insert USB Disk or SD card into device. 3. Click system upgrade on the system maintenance interface. 4. The system will automatically scan and find the specific files in updatedvr, then automatically upgrade the system. Log Query 1. Set log type, start time, and end time. The default query condition is all log files of the current day. 2. Click start query button, open log files interface, all logs which meet the conditions show in the list. 3. The log records can be browsed on the log list interface. The contents include log type, record content, occurrence time, related video files. 4. SD stands for the normal analog camera. AHD stands for megapixel HD camera. CHN3-4 : Channel three and four, choose SD or AHD according to the cameras connected to these two channels. SD stands for the normal analog camera. AHD stands for megapixel HD camera. SYSTEM LANGUAGE : Device will automatically restart after the system language is modified. 35 4.8.1 Basic Setup VEHICLE NO. : Set vehicle number, cannot be changed COMPANY NAME : Set company name LICENSE NUMBER : Set vehicle plate number. Changing number will overlay to video files. 36 4.8.5 On/Off Setting ON/OFF MODEL : Ignition mode and timing mod. Press ENTER to switch. The default mode is ignition mode. (Ignition mode is MDVR will turn on/off when vehicle is turned on/off. Timing mode is DVR will turn on/off at the time set by user). DELAY SHUTDOWN : When user chooses ignition mode, can set delay shutdown. If set delay shutdown, user needs to set delay time. After vehicle is turned off, recording still works in setting time. Press Enter and digit buttons to set delay shutdown time. Range is from 1 to 300 minutes. (Note: this function will be activated after restarting the device.) BOOT TIME/SHUTDOWN TIME : User needs to set boot/shutdown time. MDVR will turn on or shut down at the setting time. 38 NAME : Channel name can be modified, Chinese, English and numbers for option POSITION : Set name position on preview page PREVIEW : Set if display the preview screen on displayer. Open to display, close to not display. COLOR SETUP : Set channel monitoring color and contrast (adjusted by remote controller +/ - key) 4.10 Password Setup When the USE PASSWORD is on, the user needs to set a 6 digits password for administrator and normal user. 39 Administrator:Has privilege for all operations. Normal user:only has operation on picture monitoring, video query and video playback. Only the administrator has privilege to set password for administrator and normal user. 5. 3G/ 4G Network and Platform 5.1 3G/ 4G network explanation Before use, check with 3G/ 4G service supplier first. Insert 3G/ 4G card (SIM card), make sure have enough fees. Check if 3G/ 4G antenna works. Confirm the setting as follows: Main Menu Record Setup Low Stream For the channel which needs 3G/4G remote monitoring, the bit rate switch should be turned on. 40 Main Menu Vehicle Info Wireless Setup Wireless network should be turned on. Select wireless type AUTO, or select type according to service supplier. 43 After successfully login, double click the related channel to watch video 6. Intercom The realization of intercom function requires to use matching integrated cable and speaker microphone. Plug integrated cable into the corresponding interfaces of back panel. There is an aviation connector wire with no label among integrated cable. Connect microphone with this wire. 44 Open the client software, select microphone s corresponding device, right click INTERCOM. Using microphone and headset, client can have a real-time communication with device. Keep the left button of the microphone pressed while speaking. The optimal distance from the speaker s mouth to microphone should be about 30cm. 7. FAQ 1) Q: Time displays on the monitor, but there is no video, the display is black.
