2 Upon reading well the precautions that are written in this software s Handbook as well as the User s Manual of the model you come to use, please use with the correct method. Anyone who has such symptoms, always consult a doctor beforehand. Also, in the event that you felt these sorts of symptoms during play, please immediately stop and undergo a medical examination from a doctor. Immediately stop playing during these times* When you feel dizziness, nausea, tiredness, a symptom that resembles motion sickness, etc. please immediately stop playing. If symptoms do not stop after halting play, please undergo a medical examination by a doctor. * When you feel pain or discomfort in a part of your body-eyes, ears, hands, arms etc.- please immediately stop playing. If, even after a while, you do not feel better, please undergo a medical examination by a doctor. Concerning the supported software for the controller s vibration function* Those with bone, joint, finger, hand, etc. disease: absolutely do not use the vibration function. * Please do not use the vibration function for long times of continuous play. As a rough estimate, please take a break every thirty minutes. Usage Warnings This disk is PlayStation format software. About the details, please check in the software s Handbook, etc. If you connect the PlayStation, PS one as well as the PlayStation 2 to a plasma television, or non-lcd projection television (a television that uses a screen projection method), there have been cases where image burn-in (after-image picture) occurs. Particularly, if a still image is left as is displayed on the television screen for a long time, burn-in becomes easily occurring. 4 Warning When you use a memory card (SCPH-1020/ Sold Separately) with this PlayStation 2 machine. When you use a memory card (SCPH-1020/ Sold Separately), always remove between the PlayStation 2 main unit s power button (on/standby) lamp being green (on) and before the power button (on/standby) lamp is red (standby). When also connecting the PlayStation 2 exclusive multitap (SCPH-10090), multitap (SCPH-1070) and using a memory card, please perform the same operation. 5 How to Use the Analogue Controller The way to use the analogue controller (DUALSHOCK), you come to use it this way. L1 Button Use for withdrawal from battle, time gage operation, and operation on the item screen. L2 Button Unused. R2 Button Unused. R1 Button Use for withdrawal from battle, time gage operation, and operation on the item screen. Button Opens the menu screen. O Button Use for command decisions and when you enter buildings. X Button Use for command cancelation. Also, pressing it while using the control pad, you dash. Button Opens the party switching screen. Opens the time gage screen when riding in the Sill Bird. Start Button Use when a battle is paused. (Will resume battle) LED Display ANALOG Mode Switch Analog mode is not supported. Control Pad Moves characters and the cursor. Furthermore, you can take a shortcut to the list by pressing L1 or R1. *Check Equipment Enabled Characters When you choose weapons, armor, or accessories with the control pad and press the O button twice, the characters that can equip them are displayed. *Switch Personal Effects Select the item you want to switch (or blank space) and press the O button. Next, select the other item (or blank space) and please press the O button. *Arrange Personal Effects If you select "arrange" and press the O button, you can sort your personal effects by different types. About the confirmation method, please look at Use Techniques, Magic. Also, about characters that use Linked Techniques, where 2-3 people join up and use techniques and magic, please check in a way similar to the following. With the technique type s selection, choose two person technique or three person technique, and put the cursor over the technique name. Character on the screen left, at the bottom of the screen, combined tech will be displayed. The characters will be displayed on the left side of the screen, and on the bottom of the screen, their combined techniques will be displayed. Technique and magic names (magic names have a star) will be displayed in three different colors. White ones are only enabled during battle time, yellow ones are enabled during battle time and the menu screen, and grey ones are ones that cannot be used yet. Use the control pad to select a yellow technique or magic and press the O button. Next, select who to use it on and please press the O button. Techniques and magic can be used if you save up enough technique points. Also, if you select a grey technique or magic, you can check how many tech points you have left before you can use the move. *Concerning techniques and magic, please look at page 17. 13 Controller Changes the controller settings. The beginning state is Standard. In the case of changing the settings, do as the following. Select Custom and press the O button. Use the up and down on the control pad to select the operation details and use right on the control pad to go and select the button. Use either the left on the control pad or the O button to return the cursor to the left side. In the event that you want to return the changed details to Standard, put the cursor over the controller icon and please press the O button. If you change the button configurations, the in game button instructions and yours will have differences so please be careful. Technique, Item Explanations You can switch on or off the explanation window that shows up when, during battle time, you ve selected a technique to use or an item. Concerning Code Input Events During certain events in the game, you use the controller and input letter codes. For code input, please refer to the letter correspondence table on the right. 14 -Reorganization Reorganize the order of your party characters. You cannot rearrange Crono. Using the up and down on the control pad, select the character you want to rearrange and press the O button. Next, select the other character and please press the O button. With the up and down on the control pad, choose the file and press the O button. In the event that you selected a place that already has data, an overwriting verification message will be displayed, so if it s alright, choose Yes, and please press the O button. Here, if you press the SELECT button, the whole map and your current position will be displayed. Return with the X button. On the world map, if you stand in front of caves, buildings etc., specific places, the place name will be displayed. If you press the O button at this time, you will enter that place and switch to

15 the field screen. Furthermore, the buildings you can enter in towns, villages etc. will be displayed in a different color than the other buildings. -Field Screen This is the screen in which you perform information gathering and exploration. If you meet an enemy it will become a battle. Also, here on the field screen you can dash by pressing the X button while using the control pad.

16 -Time Warp Time warp is the ability to travel in the same world s distant past, present, and future. *Gate A gate is like a door which connects two eras of the same place. If you stand in front of this gate and press the O button, you will time warp to a different era. *Pillar of Light Time s Furthest Reaches is the place of arrival for space-time travelling people. Here, there is a Pillar of Light that is connected to a gate that can run to the past. About these pillars of light, each time you travel through a gate they will go and increase. If you press the O button when over this light, given that the era and place is displayed, if you select Yes you will time warp. SCREENSHOT: Lucca:!! The gate-! *Party Character Switching After you ve gone to Time s Furthest Reaches, outside of battle, and without choosing a time and place, you can change your party characters. Please press the button and open the change screen. Now, choose the character you want to change with the control pad and press the O button. Next, choose the other character and please press the O button. *Elder Hint At Time s Furthest Reaches, there is an elder. He will give you various hints, so when you reach the limit of your adventures, let s always go visit and see him. Particularly, the hints after you obtain the Sill Bird are important. 17 The Sill Bird, from a time crossing time machine, after you adventure progresses, it evolves into an advanced vehicle. -First Level The early stage Sill Bird is a unique time machine only with a time crossing function. Board via the O button over the Sill Bird, and by the X button you will get off. When you board, the time gage will be displayed. -Second Level If the story progresses, the Sill Bird will evolve into a plane. O button to board, control pad to move, and if you press the button while moving, the time gage will be displayed. -Time Warp Method Set the time gage needle to the era you want to go to with the control pad, L1, or R1button and then press the O button. 18 Information Gathering and Shops About this game, you go and travel to the same world s past, present, and future. Because of this, even a place you once went to (era), if you return from clearing an event in a different era, various changes will occur. SCREENSHOT -Talking If you stand in front of a person and press the O button, you can start a conversation with them. Even while the window displays, character movement is enabled. Also, with the button, you can move the message window. SCREENSHOT -Examine If you press the O button in front of posters, etc. you can read them. Also, if you press the O button in front of treasure boxes, you can obtain their contents. SCREENSHOT: You obtained 500 G! -Flip Switches If you press the O button in front of switches that are in dungeons, the switch operates. It can perform the opening and shutting of doors, the disabling of traps, etc. Top of Next Page The Way to Use Shops In shops, you can buy and sell equipment and items. SCREENSHOT: Oh! Welcome! What sort of business do you have here, I wonder? -Buy Select Buy and press the O button. Next, with the up and down on the control pad, select some merchandise and press the O button. 20 Battle System On the field screen, you do things like encounter enemies, and if you stand in specific places battles begin. When you enter battle, enemy names, party characters, HP, MP, and battle gage windows are displayed. Furthermore, with the button, you can move this window. Also, if you press the L1 and R1 buttons at the same time, you can escape from battle but, there are also cases where you cannot escape. In the event that there are more than two party characters, with the control pad s left and right or button you can change the order of the command input. Furthermore, in the event that your MP is insufficient, the technique and/or magic name will be displayed in grey and you won t be able to use it. Linking Command When several characters come to be waiting for a command input, the Technique command switches over to the Linking command. Select Linking and please press the O button. However, if you have not learned linked techniques, it will not switch over. Also, even with the Linking command, you can use single person techniques. 22 With the up and down on the control pad, select a technique from the Two Person Technique, or Three Person Technique column and press the O button. Next, choose the opponent/ally you ll use it on and please press the O button. About linked techniques, it s OK if only one of the linking characters executes it. Three characters techniques and magic combine and unleash a linked technique. -Items Use restoration items. Press the O button, and, with the control pad, select item you want to use and press the O button. Next, select the person to use it and please press the O button. 23 -Battle Start If you input the command, there will be a battle start. There are also cases where enemies come and attack you before you act. Also, in the case that before you, another character defeated your attack target, you will automatically attack a different character. You can obtain experience points, technique points, money, and even more there are also cases where you can obtain items. Also, once a certain amount of experience points are saved up, you will level up. Furthermore, characters that did not participate in battle also receive 75% of their experience points. (They cannot obtain technique points) SCREENSHOT You obtained a potion. Mosti Crono Kaeru Marle -Skills and Magic Learning Method When you keep on battling, you can learn techniques and magic but, for magic, after you ve studied at Time s Furthest Reaches, you finally reach the point where you learn it. In battle, if you save the technique points you can obtain up to the prescribed number, you can use your learned techniques and magic. You can check the technique points left until the prescribed number under the menu screen s Techniques & Magic. Please look at page five for further detail. Furthermore, in order to learn linked techniques, all the target characters, in the state of being able to use the required techniques and/or magic for the linked technique, must perform battle together once. 24 There are five types of weapons, and each becomes a character s personal thing. Also, there are two kinds of armor. Weapons and armor are respectively displayed similar to the following icons. -Weapons Japanese Sword Bow Gun Gun Sword Parts Wooden Sword, Bronze Katana, etc. Crono s personal weapon. Bronze Bow Gun, Robin s Bow, etc. Marle s personal weapon. Air Gun, Peashooter, etc. Lucca s personal weapon. Bronze Sword, Iron Sword, etc. Kaeru s personal weapon. Tin Arm, Hammer Arm, etc. Robo s personal weapon. *Ayla fights with her bare hands. Of the six characters, only Ayla, without being able to equip weapons, fights with her bare hands. -Armor Head A helmet type armor that protects your head. There are also female character exclusive ones. Body A body armor type armor that protects your body.

26 Techniques Techniques consume MP and hit with the power of weapons. Besides single person techniques, there are linked techniques which unleash by two or three people cooperating.
