5 Glossary 3 Glossary Below are definitions of frequently occurring words or phrases in the handbook. Slide container A slide container is a grouping of individual slides that may consist of slides and/or other slide containers. This is used to organize your slides and create a better slide overview. Playlist item A playlist item is a part of a playlist, where the user specifies which slide is to be used, decides how long it should be shown, and determines transition effects for the incoming and exiting slides. Playlist A playlist contains one or more playlist items and is a combination of different slides. The visitor experiences the playlist as a traditional Flash film. Gadget container A gadget container is a grouping of individual gadgets that may contain gadgets and/or other gadget containers. Gadget A gadget is a small application that lives its own life placed over the playlist. A gadget can for example be a clock that shows the time, a logotype placed in the lower right-hand corner or a something more advanced such as an RSS feed that provides the latest news.
6 4 Editor's Manual for Interactive Scene Interactive Scene Overview This is the first module that really combines design and technology in EPiServer! Creating cool Flash presentations has never been easier. With Interactive Scene, putting together interactive presentations is quick and easy. Communicate your message in an attractive and easy-to-update way. As editor, all you have to do is select an image, write your presentation text, determine transition effects, define how long each image should be shown and then publish. And updating is even easier! License Interactive Scene requires a license for the EPiServer module. If you do not have a license contact the Ottoboni Group License information
7 Interactive Scene 5 Slides Overview Keep your slides well organized by creating a slide container. In each respective slide container you can create other slide containers or slides. Click on a slide container in the list to see what slides it contains. Help To create a new slide container you click on the page Slides or an existing slide container and select the create a new page function. Give the new slide container a name and fill in the size of the Flash film. For each slide container you can set a screen resolution in pixels that corresponds to the resolution of the screen on which your completed playlist will be played. This preference is provided to ensure that the preview is as correct as possible.
8 6 Editor's Manual for Interactive Scene Slide container Overview A slide container is a grouping of individual slides that may contain slides and/or other slide containers. In the box to the right you can see which screen resolution set up has been set for the selected slide container, and below a list of all the slide containers and slides that have been created within the selected slide container is shown. Help Within a slide container you can create slides that are later used to create a playlist item for a playlist. You can also create other slide containers to help you organize your slides in more detail. For each slide container you can set a screen resolution in pixels that corresponds to the resolution of the screen on which your completed playlist will be played. This preference is provided to ensure that the preview is as correct as possible. To create a new slide, simply mark a slide container and choose the create a new page function. Give the slide a name and fill in the various information fields for the slide. The number of fields differs from slide to slide. Select Save and Publish. Playlists Playlists The list shows all playlists and information about who created each playlist. For more information about a particular playlist click on the name of the playlist in question. Help A playlist is a compilation of one or more playlist items that are displayed in a predetermined order and with defined transitions.
9 Interactive Scene 7 To create a new playlist click on the page Playlists and choose the create a new page function. Give the new playlist a name and fill in the required information fields. Click on Save and publish. Playlist Help By selecting Preview the playlist in question is played as viewed by the visitor. To change the preference set up click on the Edit tab. Playlist preferences are as follows: Name This is the name of the playlist and is used to identify the playlist. A useful tip is to give each playlist a descriptive name such as Start page. Width of the film in pixels Here you enter the Flash film s width in pixels Height of the film in pixels Here you enter the Flash film s height in pixels Option to prevent playlist from playing automatically Check this box if you don t want the playlist to start playing automatically when the page is downloaded. This is useful when you use a gadget to change slides. Background image You can select a background image or Flash film for a playlist. This background is displayed when the playlist is started as well as during transitions between the different playlist items.
10 8 Editor's Manual for Interactive Scene Gadget 1-4 A gadget is a small application that lives its own life placed over the playlist. A gadget can, for example, be a clock that shows the time, a logotype placed in the lower right-hand corner or a something more advanced such as an RSS feed that provides the latest news. Each playlist handles up to four gadgets and these are selected via the Gadget 1-4 field. Alternative Flash content Content that is shown if the visitor does not have Flash installed or has the wrong version of Flash. Playlist item Help By selecting Preview the playlist item in question is played as viewed by the visitor. To change the preference set up click on the Edit tab. The following preferences are available for playlist item: Name This is the name of the playlist item and is used to identify the playlist item. A useful tip is to give each playlist item a descriptive name. Playlist content slide This is the slide that is used to present the content of the playlist item. You must create the slide before you can select it. Length of time slide is shown Enter the number of milliseconds that you want the slide to show. One second is equal to 1000 milliseconds. If you do not wish slides to change automatically you can set a value of 0. In-effect Define transition effects for the incoming slide. Out-effect Define transition effects for the exiting slide Determine length of time of in-effect transition Enter the length of the incoming slide transition in milliseconds.

Immediate advance to next slide One slide is not normally shown until the current slide has disappeared from the screen. By checking this box, the next slide will be shown behind the current slide as it exits the screen. Gadget container Overview A gadget container is a grouping of individual gadgets that may contain gadgets and/or other gadget containers. In the box to the right you can see which screen resolution set up has been set for the selected gadget container, and below a list of all the gadget containers and gadgets that have been created within the selected slide container is shown. A gadget container contains set up preferences for film size. This preference is provided to ensure that the preview is as correct as possible.
12 10 Editor's Manual for Interactive Scene Installed slides General Help The Preview tab shows a preview of the slides with the information provided. The box on the right shows details about the slide. As editor, you work with a slide just like you work with any other EPiServer page. You create a new slide by marking a slide container and choosing the create a new page function. Give the slide a name and fill in the various information fields for the slide. The number of fields differs from slide to slide. When you have filled in the required fields you can choose to either Save and View or Save and publish the slide. You can always return to an earlier version of the slide via EPiServer s version list. Slide - Text Slide can be used to place text above an image or Flash film. As editor, you can determine the text s size, color, font and placement.
13 Installed slides 11 Properties Heading This is the main heading for the slide and is at the top of the slide. You determine the font size, color and alignment of the text. Sub headings A sub heading placed under the main heading. You determine the font size, color and alignment of the text. Content This is the main content of the slide and is placed under the main heading or sub heading. You determine the font size, color and alignment of the text. Background image or Flash file This is an image or Flash file on which the text is placed. Click on the button to select file. Result Advanced As editor, you can align text margins. This is done under the advanced information tab.
14 12 Editor's Manual for Interactive Scene Slide - Film This slide is used to play a film, which can either be a Flash-video (flv) or swf* format. * A limitation in Flash version 8 means that you cannot control the main timeline from Interactive Scene. For more information see the Developer s Guide. Properties Play film (flv or swf) Here you select the film that should be played. Click on the button to select file. Result
15 Gadgets 13 Gadgets General Help The Preview tab shows a preview of the gadget with the information provided. The box on the right shows details about the gadget. As editor, you work with a gadget just like you work with any other EPiServer page. You create a new gadget by marking a gadget container and selecting the create a new page function. Give the gadget a name and fill in the various information fields for the gadget. The number of fields to fill in differs from gadget to gadget. When you have filled in the required fields you can choose to either Save and View or Save and publish the gadget. This is useful if you want to create a Flash surface where the visitor can interact with the Flash.
