1 Appendix One of the great things about owning a BlackBerry is that you immediately can share in the large, worldwide camaraderie of BlackBerry owners. Many BlackBerry owners can be classified as enthusiasts, and many participate in any number of BlackBerry user groups. These user groups, along with various forums and web sites, serve as great resources for BlackBerry users. Many of these resources are available right from your BlackBerry, while others are web sites that you might want to visit on your computer. Sometimes you might just want to connect with other BlackBerry enthusiasts, ask a technical question, or keep up with the latest and greatest rumors, apps, and accessories. This chapter will point you to some great resources for getting the most out of your BlackBerry. The BlackBerry Technical Solution Center is often the first place you should consider going to for help for anything to do with your BlackBerry. To access the site, do a web search for BlackBerry Technical Knowledge Base. One of the top links will usually get you to this page, which is located on the larger Site. You may also be able to get directly to the Solution Center by typing in this web address: When you reach the site, ask your question in as few words as possible in the Search box in the middle of the screen. The Solution Center may look similar to this image you see in Figure 36-1).

2 APPENDIX: More Resources The BlackBerry Technical Solution Center web page Sometimes you ll be using your BlackBerry and want to access help resources directly from your device. In this case, the best place to start is by clicking the Help item found on most of screens menus. You can learn all about how to use BlackBerry built-in Help feature on page. Some of the resources you ll encounter actually include software that you can install as icons right on your BlackBerry s Home screen. For other resources, you will want to create a bookmark in your BlackBerry s Browser program (learn about bookmarks in Chapter 28, which starts on page). You will also want to acquaint yourself with the official BlackBerry mobile website. Follow these steps to visit that site. Start your BlackBerry s Browser program. Press the Menu key and select the Go To... option. Type in

There are many of these discussion groups focused on the BlackBerry, including CrackBerry, BerryReview, BlackBerry Rocks, and the BlackBerry Forums. A forum is an organized discussion about anything and everything BlackBerry. On each of these sites, you can discuss your BlackBerry and find tips and tricks for getting more out of it. You can also post questions and read answers to other user s questions. Here is a list of the more popular forums at the time of writing: Some sites even provide a way to install an icon in your BlackBerry Application menu for one-click access to participating in their respective discussions right from your BlackBerry. You can navigate through their forums manually or use a search tool to find a particular topic of interest. At least one of the forums will be specific to your particular BlackBerry. Look for forums that match your BlackBerry Model or Series. For example, you might search for one of the following: BlackBerry Storm 9500, BlackBerry Bold 9700, or BlackBerry Curve 8500.

4 APPENDIX: More Resources At a site dedicated to a specific model, you will find various discussion threads pertaining explicitly to that model. In other words, the signal to noise ratio should be extremely high for the BlackBerry model covered! Try your best to enter your question under the correct forum topic - you are much more likely to find people answering you if you are in the correct topic area - and ask your question nicely. Nothing invites a non-response or hostile response like being rude to people who might otherwise wan to help you. There are many, many other web sites to visit for more information and helpful resources. These sites offer everything from news to information to discussion forums.
