3 A. Introduction We are proud to announce the release of Software Update Package (SUP) 2.0 for the stabilized remote head SRH-3. We highly recommend updating the SRH-3 to this Software Update Package. Please take your time to go through this document before you start using the SRH-3. Update Instructions How to get a Software Update Package You can find the Software Update Package (SUP) in the SRH-3 downloads section on: stabilized_remote_head_srh-3 Download the latest SUP SRH-3 Firmware Update V 2.0.zip and the Driver MSR ST Virtual COM Port driver V zip to your computer. Uncompress both zip files into a newly created folder. Please note: You may need to install the MSR ST Virtual COM Port driver before you can use the FoMa Update.exe Page 3

4 SRH-3 update procedure Please note: The SRH-3 SUP2.0 can only be done securely with a PC, or a Mac with Parallels, running Windows 10. Warning: After the update has been started, it must not be interrupted. Any interruption of the update (e.g. power loss, cable break, killing of the update application, ) can leave the device with a broken/partial firmware and it won t be usable anymore until it is reinstalled by an authorised service centre again. 1. Updating the Remote Control Download the zip file Copy zip file into a new folder named SRH-3 SUP2.0 Unpack the zip file Start FoMa Update.exe. Supply the Remote Control via a 4pin XLR with 12Volt power Switch on the Remote Control Connect a Mini USB cable with the USB socket at the back of the Remote Control and with the USB port of the computer. Use the Device Manager of Windows in order to determine which COM port has been installed for the Remote Control. The COM port which has been installed is the one which appears when the USB cable to the Remote Control is plugged in. Start the update After the update has been done, disconnect the USB cable Switch OFF the Remote Control Main Pwr On/Off 12V Pwr In Mini USB 2. Updating the Remote Head Remove any camera setup from the SRH-3 Remote Head Remove the cover plate at the bottom of the onboard computer Disengage the tilt axis lock, if it is in the locked position Ensure that the Emergency knob is not activated Connect the head with an adequate 24V power supply Onboard Connect a Mini USB cable with the USB socket at the computer Remote Head and with the USB port of the computer. Start FoMa Update.exe. Cover Use the Device Manager of Windows in order to determine which COM port has been installed for the Remote Control. The COM port which has been installed is the one which appears when the USB cable to the Remote Head is plugged in. Start the update After the update has been done, disconnect the USB cable Disconnect the Remote Head from the power supply Page 4

5 Please note: After the update the remote head needs to be restored to factory settings. Connect the remote control to the head using the data cable Select Menu Select Service Select Head Press Factory Defaults Disconnect the remote head from power Switch off the remote control Rewire the remote head Switch on the remote control 3. New Features Top Down This new feature extends the creative capabilities of the SRH-3 system. Tilt movements from +60 to -110 are possible within the range of the preprogrammed software limits. Autotune Beta To make the setup of the SRH-3 faster and the PID setting of the system easier, Autotune was introduced as a new feature. Autotune can be applied to all axes at the same time or, if necessary, to each axis individually. Especially with complicated and complex setups Autotune can be very helpful. NOTE: This is a Beta Version With reference to the BETA END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT, you must be aware that currently the expected performance may not be fully achieved. User Profil Up to 9 user profiles can be stored individually. Shortcut to select direction of the lens motors The shortcuts accelerate and simplify the setup of the cforce motors DRW-1 support Full support of the new DRW-1 digital remote wheels. The DRW-1 wheels use LBUS and are recognized as an additional LBUS controller. Page 5

6 PLC VC Wheels Plug and Play The SRH-3 RCP will recognize the PLC VC wheels right after they had been plugged in. D. Changes Radio channel factory default setting To avoid any possible interference in the radio channels with a WCU-1, which had been also restored to factory default settings, the factory default setting for the radio channel of the SRH-3 RCP had been changed to channel 13. Counting radio channel To have the same way of counting and selecting the radio channels as with the WCU-4, the radio channels are counted now from 0 on and not from 1 anymore. E. Bugfixes Improved radio connection A bug which limited the possible range of the wireless transmission had been removed. The wireless transmission of the SRH-3 performs now the same good as the WCU-4. F. Default Settings Minor changes to default settings. Some default values for settings have been changed. Page 6
