3 May LG Minutes ROBO ROBO: Group members agreed that ROBO tests should be considered for AMAP, but they did not support including pvis as an AMAP parameter. They also wanted the tests limited to passenger car engine oils in 0W, 5W and 10W multigrades. The group made, seconded, and unanimously approved a motion to run ROBO on every 10 th AMAP passenger car engine oil sample as long as the Administrative Guidance Panel (AGP) supports substituting ROBO s for engine tests.

4 May LG Minutes IR & AMAP Work Group FTIR: Members agreed that FTIR might prove to be a valuable tool for measuring conformance to API 1509 requirements, but implementing the test presents challenges. Members did not endorse its use in AMAP, but they did recommend that the Advisory Panel be expanded to a work group to consider further the possible use of FTIR plus any other tests that can strengthen AMAP

9 Next Steps One year test Obtain ILMA & ACC concurrence to use IR approach Include test in 2011 AMAP contract Schedule AGP/IAG review of AMAP changes adopted in May

15 Part 1 FTIR Panel considered collecting samples with license application Signals that API has potential to find off spec any time throughout the process Process to collect, code and store large number of samples would be complex/costly Differential IR (E168) could be run on samples with significant D4951 element deviations Expectation that only gross differences will be found Panel concluded there is insufficient value from a complex process to warrant adding FTIR
