4 1 Installation Instructions 1.1 Prerequisites 1.2 Roles The instructions below assume that you have a working Citrix Presentation Server in place. You also need to have access to a running Spotfire Analytics Server, that Spotfire DXP will connect to. How to install a Spotfire Analytics Server is described in the Spotfire Analytics Server - Installation and Upgrade Manual. The Spotfire Analytics Server must be a separate machine from the Citrix Presentation Server. Some tools in Spotfire DXP require certain third-party applications to be installed on the Citrix server, for example Microsoft PowerPoint, etc. Spotfire DXP requires Microsoft.NET Framework version 2.0. This must be installed separately before installing Spotfire DXP. For more information on the system requirements of Spotfire DXP, please see To complete the installation, a Spotfire DXP administrator and a Citrix Presentation Server administrator need to be present. The Spotfire DXP administrator should have a good knowledge of Spotfire DXP and the Spotfire Analytics Server. The Citrix Presentation Server administrator should have a good knowledge of the Citrix environment and the various settings that are involved. The instructions below state whether they are to be performed by the Spotfire DXP adminstrator or the Citrix Presentation Server administrator. 1.3 Installing Spotfire DXP on the Citrix Presentation Server This chapter is intended for the Spotfire DXP administator and the Citrix Presentation Server administrator. This chapter is divided into two alternatives. Perform the instructions applicable to you: 4 (15) Running Spotfire DXP on a Citrix Presentation Server

5 Your company has never had a runnning Spotfire DXP system before. This is the first time a Spotfire DXP client is to be installed. Go to Section on page 5. Your company has a running Spotfire DXP system already in place, and has installed Spotfire DXP clients. You now also want to add Spotfire DXP to a Citrix Presentation Server. Go to Section on page First Time Installation of Spotfire DXP: Follow the instructions in chapter 1.1 to chapter 1.6 of the Spotfire DXP - Deployment and Administration Manual. This will explain how to deploy and configure Spotfire DXP on the Spotfire Analytics Server, and get a first Spotfire DXP client installed on a client machine. In all cases where the Deployment manual says client machine this means the Citrix Presentation Server. Important: Make sure that you save and keep the original spotfire.dxpconf file you created in chapter 1.3 of the Spotfire DXP - Deployment and Administration Manual. You may need this when upgrading the Spofire DXP packages at a later date. If you have any patches or language packs to apply, do so now according to the instructions provided with these. Chapter 1.7 of the Spotfire DXP - Deployment and Administration Manual explains how an administrator prepares to install the Spotfire DXP client for end users. Again, the client machine in this case will be the Citrix Presentation Server. Perform the instructions explained in chapter of the Deployment manual now, to create a dxpconf-file tailored for your end users. Instead of performing chapter 1.7.2, simply double-click on the dxpconf-file you just created for the end users. This will launch Spotfire DXP on the Citrix Presentation Server and download the packages needed. After you have verified that Spotfire DXP launches okay using your dxpconfig file, close Spotfire DXP Spotfire DXP Already Installed: Chapter 1.7 of the Spotfire DXP - Deployment and Administration Manual explains how an administrator prepares to install the Spotfire DXP client for end users. The client machine in this case will be the Citrix Presentation Server. Perform the instructions explained in chapter of the Deployment manual now, to create a dxpconf-file tailored for your end users. Make sure this dxpconf-file can be used to log in as Administrator. 6 Perform the instructions in chapter 1.7.2, using the dxpconf-file you just created, and install the Spotfire DXP client on the Citrix Presentation Server. Make sure you log in as Administrator. This will launch Spotfire DXP on the Citrix Presentation Server and download the packages needed. After you have verified that Spotfire DXP launches okay using your dxpconfig file, close Spotfire DXP. 1.4 Copy Files This chapter is intended for the Spotfire DXP administator and the Citrix Presentation Server administrator. To Copy Installation Files from Administration User to Program Files: 1 Open a file browser on the Citrix Presentation Server, and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Apps 2 Copy the folder named Spotfire DXP located here. 3 Navigate to C:\Program Files\Spotfire. 4 Paste the Spotfire DXP folder here. Response: The final folder structure should be C:\Program Files\Spotfire\Spotfire DXP\... To Copy Spotfire DXP Settings from Administrator User to Default User: 1 Open a file browser on the Citrix Presentation Server, and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data 2 Copy the folder named Spotfire located here. 3 Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Application Data. 4 Paste the Spotfire folder here. 7 1.5 Publishing the Applications After Spotfire DXP has been installed on the Citrix Presentation Server, you need to deploy it so that the users can access Spotfire DXP from their clients. This chapter is intended for the Citrix Presentation Server administrator. To Publish Spotfire DXP: 1 Open the Citrix Presentation Server Console. 2 Right-click on Application and select Publish Application from the menu. 3 Enter DXP as the Display Name and Spotfire DXP as the Application Description, and click Next. 8 4 Select the Application radio button. Browse to the Spotfire.Dxp.exe for the Command Line. The Working Directory should automatically be set when doing this. Click Next. 5 Set the Program Neighborhood Settings you want, and click Next. 8 (15) Running Spotfire DXP on a Citrix Presentation Server

9 6 Specify the Application Appearance. Spotfire DXP requires at least 1024x768 and High Color (16 bit). Click Next. 7 Specify the Client Requirements you want, and click Next. Running Spotfire DXP on a Citrix Presentation Server 9 (15)

12 12 Specify the file type associations you want, and click Finish. 13 Spotfire DXP has now been published. 1.6 Configure Settings for Farm This chapter is intended for the Citrix Presentation Server administrator. 1 Start the Citrix Presentation Server administration tool. 2 Select Properties for the Farm you used for Spotfire DXP. 12 (15) Running Spotfire DXP on a Citrix Presentation Server

13 3 On the MetaFrames Settings page, clear the Enable Content Redirection from server to client check box. Spotfire recommends unchecking "Enable Content Redirection from server to client" to ensure that all Web browser related tools work as expectedly. 4 Confirm the changes and exit the administration tool. 14 2 - Upgrade Instructions 2 Upgrade Instructions If you have recieved updated packages, patches or languages packs you want to deploy to the Spotfire Analytics Server, in order for your end users to take advantage of, perform the following instructions. 1 Apply all upgraded packages, patches and language packs to the Spotfire Analytics Server, using the instructions provided with these. 2 Start Spotfire DXP from the Citrix Presentation Server, by double-clicking on the original Administrator spotfire.dxpconf file (see Installing Spotfire DXP on the Citrix Presentation Server on page 4). Comment: If prompted, log in as Administrator. Response: The new packages are now downloaded to the Spotfire DXP client on the Citrix Presentation Server. 3 Close and exit Spotfire DXP. To Copy Installation Files from Administration User to Program Files: 1 Open a file browser on the Citrix Presentation Server, and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Apps 2 Copy the folder named Spotfire DXP located here. 3 Navigate to C:\Program Files\Spotfire. 4 Paste the Spotfire DXP folder here. Response: Final folder structure should be C:\Program Files\Spotfire\Spotfire DXP\... 15 3 - Troubleshooting 3 Troubleshooting Spotfire Library Administrator Cannot be Reached The Spotfire Library Administrator cannot be reached directly from Spotfire DXP in Citrix environment when using NTLM authentication on the Analytics Server. However, the Spotfire DXP administrator can open Spotfire Library Administrator from a non-citrix environment and go to <servername>/spotfire and then click onward to Spotfire Library Administrator or DecisionSite Administrator.
