4 Introduction This paper contains a detailed description on configuring NFuse on your Lab computer. If you are trying to configure NFuse Services and NFuse Web Extensions on the same machine, you will need to follow the steps outlined here. Before you install You must have Microsoft Internet Information Services installed. Note You will configure both components (NFuse MetaFrame Components and NFuse Web Extensions) to use the same TCP port during installation. If you receive any errors, please refer to the articles on NFuse in the Citrix Knowledge Base. It is recommended that you deploy this configuration in a test enviroment. System Requirements and Compatibility Three components are necessary for deploying Citrix NFuse: A MetaFrame server, a supported Web server, and an ICA client running a supported web browser. Citrix servers requirements The Citrix server running NFuse Services must be a MetaFrame for Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition (TSE) Version 1.8, or MetaFrame for Windows 2000 Servers Version 1.8. All servers must be members of a server farm. A Citrix server farm is a group of Citrix servers, managed as a single entity, which share some form of physical connection and a common base of user accounts. The MetaFrame or WINFRAME administration tool, called Published Application Manager, is used to administer server farms. The servers in the farm must have applications published under the server farm management scope. Web Server requirements Internet Information Server (IIS) version 4.0 running on Windows NT 4.0 Server Internet Information Server version (IIS) 4.0 running on Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition Internet Information Server version (IIS) 5.0 running on Windows 2000 Servers Apache (with Apache JServ and GNU JSP support) on Linux RedHat 6.x Apache (with Apache JServ and GNU JSP support) on Solaris Netscape Enterprise Server on Solaris How to install NFuse Components and Web Extensions on the same Server? 1

5 Client Requirements It is recommended that you use the most recent version of the Citrix ICA clients. Clients are available for download from Since NFuse extends the capabilities of ALE (Application Launching and Embedding), users have the option to deliver applications that can be embedded within a web page, or launched from a web page. The following ICA Clients support embedded applications. 6 Install NFuse This information and more can be found online at: 1. Download the latest NFuse version components from Once download is complete, locate and run NfuseForMF.exe to install NFuse. 2. Click Next after reading the welcome screen. 3. Read the license agreement and click Yes to proceed. How to install NFuse Components and Web Extensions on the same Server? 3

7 4. Select the components you would like to install. You can install the Web Site Wizard on any Win9X or NT machine. Then Click Next. 5. Select the destination folder of the installed components selected. Then click Next. How to install NFuse Components and Web Extensions on the same Server? 4

8 6. Click Next. 7. When prompted for the TCP port that the NFuse service is listening on, enter 8081 or some port higher. Then click Next. This will need to be the same port as the Web Extensions port. Then click Next. 8. You will then be prompted with a warning message that you have selected a port other than the default. Click OK. 10 Install NFuse Webserver Extension You will now need to install the NFuse Web Extensions Component. Please follow the step-by-step directions below. 1. Download the latest NFuse Webserver Extension components from Once download is complete, locate and run NFuseWebExt.exe. 2. Click Next after reading the Welcome screen. 3. Click Yes 4. Enter the name or IP address of the Metaframe Server you have installed the NFuse Components on, and enter the same TCP port used during the installation of the MetaFrame NFuse Component (e.g. 8081). Then click Next. 8. You will then be prompted with a warning message that you have selected a port other than the default. Click OK 9. 14 Testing the Installation After the install process is completed you will need to test your installion. 1. Make sure you have published your applications. 2. Use the Website Wizard to create your content as described below. Warning: Do not install Proxy server on your Citrix server and expect good performance! Read the welcome screen and click Next. 15 This is you opportunity to make changes to your port selection. If necessary make changes. Click Next. Select the scheme that you would like to use for your website. You can view the results of each in the Sample window. After you have made you selection click Next. Due to the nature of this white paper leave this as default. Click Next. 17 Enter the location of your web root directory. Because this is a lab environment you may want to create a folder in you web root directory called test. (E.g.,-c:\InetPub\wwroot\test) Click Finish. Click Yes. Click OK 3. To test your port configuration you can telnet to the port and IP address of Metaframe server. The port used will be the port that you selected. 18 4. Click Connect\Remote Host\ Enter the IP address of your Lab Server (Metaframe) Enter the port that you selected. Click Connect 5. When you see this screen press the <Enter> key. 6. This error lets you know that the NFuse Service is monitoring the port. This is a somewhat unconventional method but effective. 7. Open up your web browser and enter the URL of your lab server.
