18 irods Web Browser Client library: PRODS Main capabilities: Browse, down/upload (multiple files) Metadata management of data objects (not collections) Manage access rights Can be used by local PHP programmers as a template to create discipline specific portal or user interface Thin client, multi platform Encrypted data connection (client <-> HTTPS server) Restrictions: No parallel transfer (uses HTTP protocol) Impractical for transport of multi GB+ datafiles (PHP caches uploaded files on HTTP server before processing) Under development, irods Web Browser and PRODS not yet released No functions for admin, rule execution, metadata search
