3 1. How to use and install SSL (Secure Socket Layer) 1.1. General Certificate warning message if not installed If you do not install the CONNECTUPS-X /-BD /-E PRODUCT Root CA Certificate into your Internet Browser or JAVA plug-in, you will get the following warning message dialog box while browsing to the secure web page ( of the CONNECTUPS-X /-BD /-E PRODUCT. If you ignore any of these warning messages and click Yes, the SSL secure connections will still be functional. Internet Explorer Warning Message Dialog Box Rev. B Page 3/16

5 1.2. Root CA certificate installation for Internet Explorer Please follow the below steps to install CONNECTUPS-X /-BD /-E PRODUCT root CA for Internet Explorer. 1. Open Internet Explorer and type: (NOTE: replace the TCP/IP address in the example with the IP address that you have previously assigned the ConnectUPS product) see Figure B-1. Click on the first selection, Root CA Certificate of ConnectUPS Web/SNMP Card. Figure B-1 Rev. B Page 5/16

6 2. Select Open see Figure B-2. Figure B-2 3. Click Install Certificate as in Figure B-3. Figure B-3 Rev. B Page 6/16

7 4. Please follow the instruction of the Certificate Import Wizard and Click Next, see Figure B-4. Figure B-4 5. Select Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate, and click Next, see Figure B-5. Figure B-5 Rev. B Page 7/16

8 6. Click Finish, and then click OK to complete the installation, see Figure B-6 and B-7. Figure B-6 Figure B-7 7. Now, you can request a secure, encrypted SSL Web connection by typing the URL of the card 8. See figure B-8 on how to identify that you indeed have a SSL connection established with your device. 9 1.3. Root CA certificate installation for Netscape Please follow the below steps to install CONNECTUPS-X /-BD /-E PRODUCT FAMILY root CA for Netscape. NOTE: These instructions are for Netscape v Open Netscape and type: see Figure C-1. Click on the first selection, Root CA Certificate of ConnectUPS Web/SNMP Card. Figure C-1 Rev. B Page 9/16

10 2. Select Save it to disk and Click the OK button to select a folder for saving the certificate, see Figure C-2. Figure C-2 3. A message box, as Figure C-3, appears for indicating that the download has started. Figure C-3 Rev. B Page 10/16

11 4. When the downloading is finished, please close the download message box and launch the Netscape program. Open the CONNECTUPS-X /-BD /-E PRODUCT FAMILY Root CA certificate from File -> Open File, see Figure C-4. Figure C-4 5. Select Trust this CA to identify web sites and click OK, see Figure C-5. 12 1.4. Root CA certificate installation for Java Plug-in Please follow the below steps to install CONNECTUPS-X /-BD /-E PRODUCT FAMILY root CA for Java Plug-in. 1. Open your browser and type: see Figure D-1. Click the first selection, Root CA Certificate of ConnectUPS Web/SNMP Card. Figure D-1 Rev. B Page 12/16

13 2. Choose Save it to disk and select the lib\security subdirectory in your Java Plug-in program folder for saving the certificate. By Default, Java Plug-in is installed in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.xx, see Figure D-2. Figure D-2 3. Rename the certificate file jssecacerts.crt to jssecacerts, see Figure D-3. Figure D-3 Rev. 14 2. How to use and install SSH (Secure Shell) 2.1. General Secure Shell is a software application, which is used to log into another computer over a network and execute commands in a remote machine (typically a UNIX system, but works also on Windows). It provides strong authentication and secure communications over unsecured channels How to establish an SSH connection 1. Install CA Root Certificate See section 1.2 for detailed instructions on how to do this 2. Start your SSH compatible application (e.g. putty.exe) 3. Set the protocol used in the application to SSH and ensure that you are using SSH protocol 1 refer to the SSH application s manual for detailed usage and setup instructions. Next enter the Host name or IP address of the device you are connecting to. See example Figures E-1 and E-2. Figure E-1, example Rev. B Page 14/16
