5 1: Introduction This document describes how to set up and use the Arc Pro OCS Server to supply Arc Pro operator consoles with information from: Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS) Microsoft Lync Server (Lync) It presumes a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows networking. This guide consists of the following sections: This introduction, which includes an overview of the application. Using The Application, on page 3 Configuring Arc OCS Server, on page 5 Application Overview The Arc OCS Server connects Arc Pro to the Microsoft OCS/Lync platform so that operator consoles can display Microsoft user status and notes in real-time. Arc OCS Server runs as a windows service and can be stopped and started within Windows Service Control Manager (SCM). Arc OCS Server requires Microsoft.NET framework version 3.5 to work. It also needs to be a member of the same domain as Microsoft OCS/Lync. For the Arc OCS Server to be able to communicate with Microsoft OCS/Lync, you must create an Endpoint in the domain Active Directory. Consequently, Microsoft OCS Core must be installed. The endpoint is then created either automatically by the installer, or manually after installation. The OCS Server provides pool-wide OCS user information on demand. You use it to start and stop the server and to view: System status Level of user subscriptions User Status (for example: Available, Do Not Disturb) User Information Note (Out of Office & User-specified) Log Files The OCS Server can log all its events and processes. Users and support engineers can view these logs to check the OCS Server's performance and activity, and to determine functionality loss, and any configuration issues. Each log file contains a predefined number of lines. The log-files are generated in a sequence up to a maximum number. Once the maximum number of log-files has been created, the Server overwrites the first (oldest) log-file and so on. This prevents disk space being consumed excessively. 6 Introduction System Connectivity System connectivity is summarised below: The Arc OCS Server communicates with the Client using a TCP/IP socket, allowing the Client to request status information and change settings online. The Arc OCS Server uses Keep Alive Processing to test the network connection to Microsoft OCS/Lync. If Keep Alive Processing fails, the OCS Server tries to reconnect. The application will wait for a response from the other side after sending a small packet of data over a network connection. The datareceiving application will pick up the request and simply respond back. 2

7 2: Using The Application When you start the Arc OCS Server application, the Arc OCS Server Manager window appears. Menu Functions The Arc OCS Server Manager menu bar contains the following functions: Menu Option Use File Connect Connecting to Services. Service Manager Starting and Stopping the Arc OCS Service. Exit Exit the OCS Server application. If the Arc OCS services are running logging continues as configured in Preferences. Configuration Preferences Configure the OCS Server. For more information, see Configuring Arc OCS Server on page 5. Help About Show Arc OCS Server release information. The interface consists of the following sections: Sessions - the number of active OCS user subscriptions User Activity - the number of registered client sessions. Server Status - OCS Server, (CT Link to MS OCS), is one of the following: Active - active connection established In-Active - there is no connection between Arc Pro and the MS OCS Server Not Connected - the Arc OCS Server has stopped and is unavailable in the network Not Configured - the Arc OCS Server is incompletely configured. Server Status - Comms (client communication socket status), is one of the following: Shutdown Initializing Active (listening) Not Active Status Bar - shows the application name and the OCS Server connection status. Viewing Help To view help on any part of the Arc OCS Server interface, select it with the cursor and then press F1. Connecting to Services After the Arc OCS Server application starts, it automatically connects to Arc OCS Server Services using the information given during installation. If the Arc OCS Sever cannot find the services, or it has been stopped, the Status bar shows Not Connected. To connect the Arc OCS Server to its Services: 1. Select File > Connect. 2. Type either the Server Name or the IP Address of the machine hosting the Arc OCS Sever. Arc Pro OCS Server User Guide 3

8 Using The Application 3. In Service Port Number, type Click Connect. 5. The OCS Sever status changes to Stopped. Starting and Stopping the Arc OCS Service To start or stop the Arc OCS Service: 1. Click File > Service Manager. The Service Manager window shows a traffic light that is either: Red - showing the service is stopped. Green - showing the service is running 2. Click Start Service to start the service when it is stopped. 3. Click Stop Service to stop the service when it is running. 4. Click Close to close the Service Manager. 4

9 3: Configuring Arc OCS Server This section describes how to configure the Arc OCS Server. Consult your Network/System Administrator before making any changes to the Arc OCS Server configuration. To configure your Arc OCS Server: 1. In the main menu, click Configuration > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. It consists of the tabs: General OCS Server Logging 2. Click the General tab, and then set the following: Label Server IP Address Server Port Number Description The Name or IP Address of the machine hosting the OCS Server. If you leave this blank, the Arc OCS server uses the default NIC card for managing the client. The Service Port Number used by the OCS Service. 3. Click the OCS Server tab, and then set the following: Label Description OCS Server Name The Fully Qualified Domain Name of Microsoft OCS/Lync or Pool Server. End Point Type Application Select this to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync via an Application End Point. This is the recommended end point type. Create the Application End Point in the active directory using either the EPUtil tool (when running OCS 2007 R2), or the powershell script generated when installing the product. User Select this to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync via a User End Point. A User Endpoint is a normal user in the active directory that is allowed to log in to the Lync server via the normal Lync Client. End Point Details (Application) EP Name The name used when creating, in the active directory, the application endpoint to use to connect to the Microsoft OCS/Lync Server. Certificate The Subject Name property of the OCS Client certificate installed as described in OCS Client Certificate Verification & Installation in the Arc Pro Installation Guide. 10 Label 4. Click the Logging tab, and then set the following: Configuring Arc OCS Server End Point Details (User) Port The Port Number to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync. The default is EP Name The End Point Name to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync. Prefiix the name with sip: Domain Username Password Description For example: The user account domain to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync. The user account username to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync. The user account password to connect to Microsoft OCS/Lync. Label Description Logging Level Choose from: Minimum, Detailed (Default), Advanced and Full. Logging Path and Filename The log files location. No of Files The maximum number of log files that are created by the OCS Server. Choose a number in the range 5 to 500. Lines per File The maximum number of lines each log file will contain. After the log file reaches this number of lines, a new file is created. Choose a number in the range 500 to
