1 NISSAN Installation of CONSULT III plus Software on Generic PC that Meets Software Operating Specifications Reference: Date: November 1, 2018 Attention: Service Directors and Service Managers This bulletin has been amended to add Window 10 as an approved PC operating system. No other changes have been made. Please discard the previous version. ANNOUNCEMENT Nissan North America, Inc. is pleased to announce a new program that will make it easier and cost effective to provide CONSULT III plus diagnostic capability to all your technicians. CONSULT III plus diagnostic software can now be installed on any personal computer that meets the CONSULT software operating specifications. You can purchase your PCs locally, making it easier for you to use your PC purchasing power and utilize local hardware support. What steps should I take? 1. If the existing ASIST workstation is displaying the following message This PC can be activated for CONSULT use! on the ASIST header home page, the workstation meets the required specifications and can receive CONSULT III plus software and diagnostic data, go to section If existing ASIST PC is compatible. 2. If the existing ASIST workstation is not displaying the message This PC can be activated for CONSULT use! on the ASIST header home page, go to section, If PC is not compatible. If existing ASIST PC is compatible: 1. Purchase an equal quantity of C-III plus VI2 (J VI2-B) from TechMate. 2. Optional purchase; IC security card (549414) for immobilizer functions. Orders can be placed by calling TechMate at Complete the attached ASIST CONSULT III plus software request form and submit it 4. After request has been processed, notification will be given, ASIST will automatically confirm the PC specifications against the CONSULT III plus Computer Required Specifications list on page 4, and then your next ASIST sync will begin to receive the C- III plus software. 1

2 If PC is not compatible: 1. From existing ASIST Synchronizer under View Settings / Details, click OTS Spec. Check, and check if any Failed items can be upgraded or if unit is not upgradable you can purchase a PC that satisfy the CONSULT III plus Computer Required Specifications list on page Purchase an equal quantity of C-III plus VI2 (J VI2-B) from TechMate. 3. Optional purchase; IC security card for immobilizer functions. Orders can be placed by calling TechMate at Complete the attached ASIST CONSULT III plus software request form and submit it 5. If ASIST needs to be reinstalled you will receive the ASIST install USB drive, follow installation instructions. 6. ASIST will automatically confirm the PC specifications against the required specification list on page 4, and your next ASIST sync will begin to receive the C-III plus software. If replacing existing CONSULT Panasonic CF-18/19: Each dealer is still required to have at least one Panasonic Toughbook CONSULT kit (J ) 1. Purchase a PC that satisfy the CONSULT III plus Computer Required Specifications list on page 4. Optional purchase; IC security card for immobilizer functions. 2. Complete the attached ASIST CONSULT III plus software request form and submit it 3. You will receive the ASIST install USB drive, follow installation instructions. 4. ASIST will automatically confirm the PC specifications against the required specification list on page 4, and your next ASIST sync will begin to receive the C-III plus software. Annual fees: Each operating CONSULT III plus software license requires an annual fee be paid to support software development, enhancements and support. Each spring, your NVA service account is charged an annual fee to support a number of programs. For CONSULT, the additional fees will be charged based on the number of J47446-VI2-B C-III plus kits you purchase. 2

3 CONSULT III plus - Essential Tool Requirements: Each dealer is still required to have at least one Panasonic Toughbook CONSULT kit (J ). Only the Panasonic Toughbook is fully validated for all your repair needs. The Panasonic Toughbook is the only PC that will run the various specialty software as well as GT-R software. Some specialty software listed in ASIST and GT-R software will only be available on Panasonic Toughbook workstations. What diagnostic features will function and which ones will not as compared to the Panasonic Toughbook CONSULT kit (J-54201)? A generic PC meeting CONSULT specs will support: o Full diagnostics o Programming and reprogramming o Immobilizer/key programming (with purchase of security card) A generic PC meeting CONSULT specs will not support: o GT-R diagnostics o Some of the specialty software included on the Panasonic Toughbook CONSULT Validated laptop: Due to the vast array of personal computers in the market, Nissan North America, Inc. cannot validate proper operation on all available personal computers. ASIST Security Key ID will be transferred to the new PC and discontinued on the older PC. List ASIST Security Key ID Complete Section 3 No Cost $100 $100 SECTION 1: REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION ON EXISTING COMPATIBLE ASIST STANDALONE PC All items under this section must be marked in order to fulfill your request. List ASIST Security Key ID. You can find the Key ID by opening the ASIST synchronizer. Requestor must be an employee of the associated dealership. Purchased an equal quantity of C-III plus VI2 (J VI2-B) from Tech-Mate. List 6 digit sales order # from your VI2 (J VI2-B) Tech-Mate invoice. * Request will not be processed without valid sales order #. The PC is now in place and ready for CONSULT III Plus to be reinstalled. * After request has been processed, notification will be given, ASIST will automatically confirm the PC specifications against the required specifications and your next ASIST sync will begin to receive the C-III plus software. SECTION 2: REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION ON PURCHASED PC THAT MEETS OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS All items under this section must be marked as in order to fulfill your request. Requestor must be an employee of the associated dealership. Purchased an equal quantity of C-III plus VI2 (J VI2-B) from Tech-Mate. List 6 digit sales order # from your VI2 (J VI2-B) Tech-Mate invoice. * Request will not be processed without valid sales order #. The PC is now in place and ready for CONSULT III Plus to be reinstalled. If this is a replacement of an existing workstation provide existing ASIST Security Key ID I understand that the ASIST installation package will be sent ATTN: Service Manager for distribution to requestor. I will install ASIST immediately upon receipt and send back ASIST USB Key within 10 days of NNA s shipment, or dealership will be invoiced a $100 late charge on their non-vehicle account.
