Overview 1.1 Overview This LED module is an ideal yet inexpensive replacement of traditional power indication LED on the front panel of PC case. It is an intelligent module that can automatically detect the status of your PC and will twinkle at a regular pace if PC goes into standby mode. An embedded 4-way DIP switch allows you to set the pace by which LED twinkles. We also offer you 4 plastic standoffs so that you can fix it somewhere inside the PC case. However, you need to find, on the computer motherboard, a 2-pin header that can output +5V supply even when the computer is in standby mode. Note you can use either one of them (front panel USB header & 2-pin header) to power the LED module but do not use them simultaneously. Be sure that your BIOS ACPI setting is S3 and your computer is not powered before hook up of LED module. 1. Connect the power LED cable (3-pin) with connector J5 of LED module. 2. Connect the front panel USB header on your computer motherboard and J2 of LED module with the 9-pin power cable provided. 3. Connect power LED negative (-) pin on your computer motherboard and J3 of LED module with the green cable provided. Note: do not connect with other pin of front panel header. 4. Inspect carefully for any possible wrong connections and push K4 on DIP switch to ON Sure Electronics Inc. CP-MD004_Ver2.0_Page 3

The LED indicator that attached to LED module will be illuminated in green when you turn on the power of your computer and will start to twinkle at a regular pace when you convert your computer to standby mode. You can refer to your motherboard manual for the exact location of front panel USB header. Some types of motherboard allows you to choose the way of powering and if so, please choose standby power mode. 2.2 Where exactly can I find the power LED negative pin of front panel header? You can refer to the motherboard manual for the location of power LED negative pin of front panel header. Some types of motherboard manual mark it as PWR_LED. Connect the power LED negative pin of front panel header and J3 of LED module with status detector cable provided. Do not connect with other pins. 2.3 What if my computer motherboard doesn t have a front panel USB header? We integrate an auxiliary header on LED module to prevent the awkward of not having extra front panel USB headers on computer motherboard. However, you will need to find a 2-pin header on your motherboard which can be connected with this auxiliary header. Remember the 2-pin header you will find on motherboard shall have the ability to output +5V even in standby mode. 2.4 What if the LED module cannot function well? 1. Firstly inspect all connections in which some of them could be wrong. 2. Be sure that the front panel USB header or other powering header you select is powered. 3. Be sure that negative pin of power LED has change in level. 2.5 How to convert my computer into standby mode? Normally, the computer will pop up the following if you turn it off, just click Stand By button. Note: We will provide technical support to computer fans who have DIY experience Sure Electronics Inc.
