6 MICROMAX GOES TO 667 MHZ Popular MicroMax PC s clock rate has gone up from 300 Mhz to 667 Mhz. This is the limit of the clock speed for a fanless computer design that can operate in ambient temperature up to 60C without forced cooling. This small computer can be supplied with a hard drive or a solid state disk and Linux or any Windows O/S. It is ideal for hot and dusty environments,often encountered on the factory floor. On some specially designed computers loaded with hot DSP cards we even use 150 CFM air fans. We use only ball bearing NIDEC air fans that have MTBF of 1.5 million hours. Failures of these air fans are extremely rare. Furthermore we use an air temperature control/alarm on our chassis speed of the air fans is proportional to the temperature inside the enclosure as sensed by a thermistor. This feature extends the life of the air fans and substantially cuts down on the noise. To operate fans at top efficiency, each cooling fan is mounted on an Air Chamber support, which also reduces the audible noise as blades of the fans do not operate against the grille of the chassis.
