Enterprises need a unified platform for multiple services Industries are undergoing accelerated intelligence transformations. Cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things (IoT), and other new-generation ICT technologies have become the driving forces in industries. Enterprises that provide different services also need different communications systems. Industrial controls require reliable and high-performance data connections. Video surveillance demands large transmission bandwidths. Mobile offices call for ubiquitous access to databases and mobile applications. Personnel coordination needs always-on-line and push-to-talk group communications. Mobile devices in factories request precise positioning for automatic production. Massive numbers of sensors have to report real-time data without manual intervention or maintenance. That is why industries deploy different systems such as wired networks, Wi-Fi, narrowband trunking systems, and ZigBee (or Bluetooth systems). But each of these has its own disadvantages. Different communications and data systems deployed for production, operation and management, office, and asset management cannot implement information sharing or exchange. As a result, these information silos can make enterprise management awkward. Expanding heterogeneous network systems is difficult, which prevents enterprises from introducing new services or adapting to changing demands. Therefore, enterprises need an integrated service platform to provide reliable, stable, industry-grade communications and data connections. The service engine connects to different enterprise application systems used in production, operation and management, office, asset management, and other service departments over a universal data interface. This facilitates data sharing among different systems. When new service systems are required, they can be rapidly deployed on the converged platform without modifying the access layer. The unified OneAir network gives enterprise managers the choice to either utilize frequencies from a dedicated licensed spectrum or an easily-accessible unlicensed spectrum. Three technologies are available for different services and spectra: elte-licensed: Recommended for enterprises that apply for a dedicated licensed spectrum. elte-licensed is based on the latest LTE-A technology, provides high-performance broadband data access and voice dispatch services to satisfy industrial control and production scheduling requirements. elte-u: Recommended if no dedicated licensed spectrum is available. elte-u is based on the unlicensed spectra of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. LTE allows in such bands much wider coverage (2~3 times), better mobility, and reliable connections in comparison to Wi-Fi networks. elte-iot: Based on an unlicensed sub-ghz Industrial Scientific & Medical (ISM) spectrum, this solution provides machine-to-machine connections for collecting information from massive numbers of industry devices. The three technologies can be independently deployed or flexibly combined. For example, elte-licensed can be used to provide basic data and voice services in the initial stages. If more bandwidths are required during subsequent service expansion, elte-u can be adopted for traffic offload. If an enterprise requires Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) features, elte-iot can be added to provide a wider range of services. The three technologies use a unified service engine platform and enable centralized service management and interworking. OneAir@Smart X, High-Performance, Reliable, and Industry-grade Connection OneAir@Smart X is based on advanced LTE technology and can outperform other systems in coverage distance, throughput, and transmission latency. OneAir will constantly evolve with 3GPP specifications to maintain improvement in performance. elte-licensed: Utilizes the latest 4.5G LTE technologies, supports 4 x 4 MIMO, 2CC CA, and 256QAM. The transmission rate for a single user is up to 400 Mbit/s. elte-u: Provides wireless coverage two to three times as wide as Wi-Fi-based networks using identical bands. Handover latency is less than 100 ms. It supports inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) and multiple-user priority-based scheduling. elte-iot: Provides broad coverage of up to10 km, battery life up to 10 years, and a massive number of connections.
