9 New mathematical models for ultrasonic time of flight measurement, reducing cost and power consumption. Ultrasonic - Digital processing of Transmitted & reflected sound signals, increasing the resolution of the time measurement to 20 picoseconds. Eliminating the requirement for discrete Analog Front End and additional high cost electronic components, resulting a lower cost for ultrasonic water meters.

10 Wireless MBUS (Using FSK, Traditional RF principle for short range communication) Lora (Long Range Chirp Spread Spectrum fully customizable low power communication network and meters, with lowest almost-no communication costs. Sigfox (Long Range Ultra Narrow Band low power communication network and meters, needs investment for sigfox infrastructure by local operators, communication costs will be defined by operators in a similar way like GSM and GPRS.) Nb-IoT (Similar solution like Sigfox, which requires infrastructure and pricing by local network operators. Hardware similar like GPRS module)

11 Bluetooth (Short range open protocol mainly used as HMI for data entering to and/or reading from water meter. Secure only if it is supported by additional security algorithms such as STS and AES) GPRS (internet connection to the meters from the server, directly or over gateways. In case of direct connection, each meter must have a built-in Gprs module and a sim card.) Wifi (In case of meters are installed within the coverage of a WiFi network : Access Points, ADSL modems etc) Communication costs may vary depending on internet service supplier.

15 LCD Screen Meter dot matrix LCD screen with a high-contrast backlight and wide viewing angle. Very useful feature in the field, for reading the meter's consumption & balance particularly when the meter is installed in dark places. Avoid customer complaints such as they can not see the screen messages. Some manufacturers prefer cheap individual leds to put under the LCD glass, which does not give a smooth & clear view, thus causing both customer and utility staff complaints. (like the first generation LCD TV displays, which were not possible to get an enough view from left-right sides)
