Installing the VapoChill LightSpeed [AC] TM Preparing the case Step 1 Figure 1 Install the supplied template on the bottom of your case. Install it so that the centerline is aligned with the center of your case, and with the front end aligning with the front of your case. To prevent the template to move during the work on your case, use pieces of tape to hold it in place. 3

Step 2 Figure 2 Drill four Ø10mm mounting holes in the bottom of the case. The holes are marked on the template. Step 3 Figure 3 Figure 4 Cut away the piece marked on the template. This is where the Evaporator hose will enter the case. Start by drilling a hole in the two inside corners, to get the rounding. Then cut between the holes, along the line on the template. Also cut from the side of the case and to the holes, to get the entire marked area removed. 4

Figure 5 The case is now ready to be installed on the VapoChill LightSpeed [AC] TM. 5

Installing the case on the VapoChill LightSpeed [AC] TM Step 1 Place the case on top of the VapoChill LightSpeed [AC] TM. Step 2 Figure 6 Mount the case on top of the VapoChill LightSpeed [AC] TM with the four supplied thumb screws. 6

Installing the CPU-kit Installing the Back Plate. Step 1 Step 2 Figure 7 Remove the protective paper from the back of the MotherBoard Back Insulation. 11 Step 9 Figure 15 The four Guides have now been installed. 11

Preparing the Socket (Optional but highly recommended) Step 1 Step 2 Figure 16 Apply some of the supplied Heat Conduction Compound on the components inside the socket. Make sure that they are well covered. Put some of the supplied Heat Conduction Compound on the socket, where the CPU pins will be.!! ATTENTION!! Do ONLY use the Heat Conduction Compound supplied by Asetek Inc. in the socket. Other Heat Conduction Compounds may be electrically conductive and therefore cause shortcuts in the Socket, damaging the hardware.!! ATTENTION!! Figure 17 Figure 18 Spread out the Heat Conduction Compound with the supplied Heat Conduction Applier. 12

Step 3 Figure 19 Figure 20 Insert the CPU in the Socket and take it back out again, and check that all the pins have been covered with Heat Conduction Compound. Also cover the components in the center of the CPU with a layer of Heat Conduction Compound. If the pins and other components are not covered, there is a risk of corrosion, if it should happen that a little air should get to the socket. Step 4 Figure 21 Insert the Socket Insulation in the hole in the center of the Socket. Install the CPU in the Socket. 13

Installing the MotherBoard in the Case Step 1 Figure 22 Install the MotherBoard in the Case. 14

Step 3 Figure 28 Install the Clamshell Heat Element inside the Clamshell, using the self adhesive on the Clamshell Heat Element. Make sure that the Clamshell Heat Element is following the faces inside the Clamshell. If there is air between the Clamshell and the Heat Element in the edges, then it will be difficult to install the inserts later in this assembly. Pull the wires out through the hole in the top of the Clamshell. 18

Step 4 Figure 29 Pull the piece of the Clamshell Heat Element where the wires are connected back into the Clamshell, to give room for the Evaporator to pass through the hole in the top of the Clamshell. Push the Evaporator through the hole in the Clamshell. Step 5 Figure 30 Pull the piece of the Clamshell Heat Element where the wires are connected back up in the hole, in the top of the Clamshell. Insert the insulation hose into the hole in the top of the Clamshell. Only insert the hose till it fills the hole in the top of the Clamshell. Make sure that it sits plane with the inside face of the Clamshell. 19

Step 6 Figure 31 While holding the Insulation hose and the Clamshell fixed, pull the Evaporator clear, till it s possible to place the two Top Inserts between the Evaporator and the Clamshell. Step 7 Figure 32 While holding the Insulation Hose and the Clamshell fixed, to ensure that the Insulation Hose stays in place inside the Clamshell, push the Evaporator and the Top inserts into the Clamshell. 20

Step 8 Figure 33 Insert the Bottom Insert inside the Clamshell. Check that the Evaporator is protruding out from the Bottom Insert app. 2mm. Step 9 Figure 34 The Clamshell is now assembled and ready to be installed on the CPU. 21

Applying thermal paste on the CPU Step 1 Step 2 Figure 35 Apply some Heat Conduction Compound on top of the CPU. Figure 36 Spread out the Heat Conduction Compound in an even thin layer. 22

Installing the Evaporator on the CPU Step 1 Step 2 Figure 37 Slide the Clamshell over the Guides. Put the Springs on the Guides. Figure 38 23

Step 3 Figure 39 Put one Washer on each Thumb Screw. Step 4 Figure 40 Install a Thumb Screw in each Guide. Tighten the Thumb Screws one turn one by one till they are all touching the top of the Guides. Step 5 Figure 41 Uninstall the Clamshell and Check for a full imprint of the CPU on the Evaporator, to see if there is good contact. 24

Getting power to the Cooling Unit Step 1 Figure 42 Connect the Hermaphrodite Power Connector from the VapoChill LightSpeed [AC] TM to the Power Supply. Connect the normal AC Power Connector to the Hermaphrodite Power Connector. 25

Installing the ChillControl Step 1 Figure 7 (differences might occur in design)!! ATTENTION!! Do NOT power on the system (i.e. ChillControl or PC) before everything is connected properly. Do NOT connect any cables when power is supplied to the system. Always turn on power to the VapoChill LightSpeed system before turning on the computers PSU. Some computers may start once power to the PSU is applied thus starting the system unintended. If this happens the ChillControl will try to shut down the computer by holding down the POWER button until the motherboard shuts down.!! ATTENTION!! 26

Step 2 Figure 43 Please make sure that the jumper selector located near TEMP1 is set to NTC resistor measurements. 1-2 NTC sensor 3-4 Pt1000 sensor (not applicable in this version)!! ATTENTION!! Do NOT use TEMP1 with the VapoChill Lightspeed cooling system. This connector is reserved for the evaporator temperature sensor. Using this will result in false temperature readings.!! ATTENTION!! 27

Step 3 Figure 44 Connect one of the HDD cables from your PSU to the AUX 5V / 12V connector on the ChillControl. Step 4 Figure 45 The black cable coming from the cooling unit is the control cable responsible for relay, condenser / exhaust fan and evaporator sensor signalling. The cable is mounted on the CC3 cable connect connector. The red wire aligns with pin1 marked with a small triangle. 28

Mount your power switch connector (from your case) on the PowerSW connector on the ChillControl board. Step 8 Figure 49 The USB cable mounts on the USB connector. Red wire aligns with pin1. The other end of the cable is mounted on an internal motherboard USB connector. Red wire aligns with pin1 / Vbus (consult your motherboard manual if you are in doubt). 30

Step 9 Default settings Figure 50 Should it happen that you alter the security settings so that the system will not boot etc. it is possible to return to default settings. Short-circuiting the connectors for TEMP2, TEMP3 and TEMP4 loads the default settings into the controller again. This needs to be done with the processor receiving power indicating by the blue LED on the controller. After loading the default settings, be sure to remove the jumpers again otherwise your system will run the default settings and user settings simultaneously causing strange behaviour. 31

Starting up the system Step 1 Power ON Figure 51 During PC power off the display will show the above information VapoChill LightSpeed by asetek Inc.). Press the power button (on your case) for 1 second to start up the system. Figure 52 While the compressor is cooling down to the user-defined start up temperature the above information will be shown.
