Keysight TAP is a modern Microsoft.NET-based application that can be used stand-alone or in combination with higher-level test executive software environments. Leveraging C# and the power of Microsoft Visual Studio, TAP is not just another programming language. It is a modular infrastructure upon which you can build your test solutions, maximizing your team s productivity by using your existing software development tools and infrastructure. Architecture Included with Keysight TAP is the core sequencing engine, tools and plugins to minimize your test system development time and test execution speed. The Switch Manager enables connecting DUTs and Instruments. It also includes Connect and Disconnect test steps for use in test plans. 2 KS8105 Product Overview The Switch Manager is a TAP plugin. The Switch Manager Plugin includes a graphical editor that makes it possible to easily develop connections between DUTs, Instruments, and select switch matrixes. These connections are then used as editable settings inside TAP test steps. Plugin Workflow 1 Add ports 2 Add resources 3 Define Connections 4 Use connections 1. In C#, add Input/Output ports to your Instrument and DUT plugin definitions 2. In TAP, add DUTS, Instruments, and Switches to your bench profile. 3. In TAP, In the connections designer, define cables and connections. 4. In TAP, use the connections in TAP Test Steps Key Features The Switch Manager allow easy definition of the connections between DUTs, switch matrixes, instruments and cables. Connections are made by sequentially clicking on the ports that define a connection. Ports and Connections can be renamed to fit your application. The graphic below illustrates how a DUT with a single input and output is connected to stimulus and response instruments via a matrix switch. Page 2

5 Ordering Information KS8105A software licensing A KS8015A license is needed to use the Switch Manager graphical editor inside the TAP GUI. A KS8105A license is not needed for running test plans that reference Switch Manager defined connections. The Keysight KS8105A Switch Manager Development Plugin software is licensed based on the options purchased. Licenses are sold as fixed node-locked to a single PC, transportable and network floating in either perpetual or annual durations. The table below summarizes the available options.
