1 Over 70 percent of people who use the Internet also use social media. 28 percent use social media on their smartphones every day! Your friends and family members are probably already using Facebook on a regular basis. 1. Remind your friends about an upcoming fundraiser 2. Ask for online donations 3. Post fundraiser photos and thank attendees 4. Reach extended family members who don t live nearby 5. And more! Call HelpHOPELive or ewebb@helphopelive.org if you need help setting up a Facebook account. 1. Add a profile picture. 2. Add a link to your HelpHOPELive Campaign Page to your profile. 3. Friend request people you already know. DO NOT ask people you don t know to post a link on their own pages. DO NOT only post links to your Campaign Page. Share original posts as well. DO NOT post any text without checking your spelling first. DO NOT give out personal information like your full address.

2 1. Go to your HelpHOPELive Campaign Page. 2. At the top right, you will see a Share My Page section with social media icons. 3. Click on the blue Facebook icon. 4. A new tab will open up [see image after Step 6]. 5. You may have to login to your Facebook account to proceed. 6. Add information in the empty box. For example: I need a kidney transplant to survive. Can you help? [continued on next page] 7. Click on the Share Link button at the bottom right.

Highlight the URL for that registration page. Right click and select Copy, or hold down the CONTROL and C keys on your keyboard. [continued on next page] 4.

3 1. Go to your Campaign Page. 2. Click on the Register button for the event you want to promote. If you don t have a Register button, contact your Fundraising Coordinator or follow the previous set of directions for sharing your Campaign Page. 3. Highlight the URL for that registration page. Right click and select Copy, or hold down the CONTROL and C keys on your keyboard. [continued on next page] 4. Go to your Facebook page. 5. You may have to login to your Facebook account to proceed. 6. Click in the Status box or click on Update Status. 7. Right click and select Paste, or hold down the CONTROL and V keys on your keyboard [continued on next page] 8. Highlight the URL in the Status box and delete it.

4 9. Now, in that Status box, you can type in a note for your friends. For example: Register online for my upcoming Wine and Chit-Chat Fundraiser! 10. Click on the title or subtitle of the website to edit it. 11. Click on + Upload Image on the default picture if you would like to upload a new picture. Your picture should be 160 x 160 pixels. 12. Click on Post at the bottom right when you re ready to share. You can t share a PDF document on Facebook. Here s what you can do instead. 1. Open the PDF. 2. Choose File Save As Image 3. Select PNG from the list of options. Make note of where you save the image. [continued on next page]

You may have to login to your Facebook account to proceed. 8. In the Status area, click on Add Photos/Video. 9. Find the image on your computer and select it. 10. Once you can see the flyer image in the bottom left corner, click in the Status box. [continued on next page]

6 11. Right click and select Paste, or hold down the CONTROL and V keys on your keyboard. 12. You can add a brief note before the URL. Do not delete the URL. Keep in mind that you may need to alter your Privacy Settings in order to share your Facebook page with people who aren t already connected to you. 2. Go to your Facebook page. 3. 7 4. Go to your HelpHOPELive Campaign Page. 5. Under Add A New Update, type a brief message. For example: Please follow me on Facebook! 6. Right click and select Paste, or hold down the CONTROL and V keys on your keyboard. [continued on next page]
