3 Quick Start Guide Overview This Quick Start guide is intended to provide you with the information you need to complete primary administrative tasks for system tools in EFI Pace. Note: This document is a Quick Start Guide and does not contain every administrative task you can perform with EFI Pace system tools. This guide contains the following types of notes: Important: When you see this type of note, the information may affect the way you enter fields or may warn you that errors could occur. Pay particular attention to information in these notes. Note: When you see this type of note, the information may serve as a reminder or may provide additional details that do not appear in the procedure. Tip: When you see this type of note, the information might help you use the system more efficiently or may provide an example for a step in a procedure. ToolTips EFI Pace contains ToolTips for some fields that provide detailed information such as a field description, maximum number of characters the field accepts or the format the field requires. Use the ToolTips, where available, in addition to this guide for assistance in EFI Pace. To access ToolTips: In EFI Pace, position your mouse pointer over the name of the field for which you want additional information. A small, cream-colored pop-up box appears with detailed information for that field. 7/23/2010 3

5 Single Object Import (SOI) The Single Object Import (SOI) tool is part of the basic EFI Pace system that can help you: Add data records from a third-party source into EFI Pace. Update/Delete many existing EFI Pace records at once. Please refer to the Single Object Import Administrator Quick Start Guide for detailed information and procedures. 7/23/2010 5
6 Library Manager The Library Manager tool provides you with a single point of administration for setup objects in EFI Pace. This tool enables you to search, view and edit setup objects as well as connect to a library system to import setup objects. Please refer to the following topic for information on how to access and use the Library Manager tool in EFI Pace: Library Manager... 6 Locate, view, and edit EFI Pace setup objects /23/2010 6
7 Locate, view, and edit EFI Pace setup objects 1. From the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click Library Manager. The Library Manager page appears. 2. On the Library Manager page, in the Setup Options group box, to locate the desired setup object(s) in EFI Pace, do all of the following, as applicable: In the Category field (required), select the category, such as Estimating, to which the setup object you want to view or edit belongs. In the Sub Category field (required), select the sub category, such as Materials or Products, to which the setup object you want to view or edit belongs. In the Setup Object field (required), select the setup object you want to view or edit. Note: The system instantly displays results for the object you select in this field below the Setup Options group box. In the Library Mode fields, check the box if you want to import setup objects from a remote library server. In the Library System field (required and available only if you check the box in the Library Mode field), enter the IP address and port of the library server from which you want to import setup objects. In the Secure field (available only if you check the box in the Library Mode field), check the box if you want to use SSL to connect to the library server. Click [Connect]. The Library Manager page refreshes, with a list of setup objects that match the criteria use you specified. 3. On the Library Manager page, do one of the following, as applicable: Click on the magnifying glass icon next to the setup object you want to view or modify, or edit the applicable fields in the grid. Tip: If you are in Standard mode (you did not check the box in the Library Mode field), to delete an object, check the box in the Delete field next to the desired objects and click [Update]. 7/23/2010 7
8 The [Object] Detail pop-up page appears. Refer to the corresponding Quick Start Guide (such as the Estimating Users Quick Start Guide) for complete details and field descriptions. If you are in Standard mode (you did not check the box in the Library Mode field), to modify the setup object on the Library Manager page, edit the editable fields in the grid, as applicable, and click [Update]. If you are in Library mode (you checked the box in the Library Mode field), do all of the following, as applicable: - In the Include field, select whether you want to view or import only active objects, inactive objects, or all objects. The Library Manger page refreshes, with a list of results that match your criteria. - In the Select field, check the box next to each setup object you want to import. Tip: Click the (all) link to check the box in this field to select all objects on the page. - In the Import Children field, check the box if you want to import all the children of the selected setup object. Tip: Click the (all) link to check the box in this field to select all objects on the page. - Click [Import From Library]. The Library Import pop-up page appears. 4. On the Library Import pop-up page, do all of the following, as applicable: In the User Name field (required), enter the user name you want to use to log into the selected server. In the Password field (required), enter the password associated with the user name you enter in the User Name field. In the Secure field, check the box if you want to use SSL to connect to the library server. Click [Import From Library]. The Library Import pop-up page refreshes, with import process results. 5. Click the red X in the upper right corner of the Library Import popup page to close the page.. 7/23/2010 8
9 XPath Evaluator XML Path Language (XPath) is an expression language that can address parts of an XML document. The purpose of an XPath expression is to pull a value from the appropriate field in the EFI Pace Object Model so the value can be used in a quantity calculation. Please refer to the XPath Expressions Reference Guide to learn more about the EFI Pace Object Model and XPath expressions. 7/23/2010 9
10 HTTP Post Tester The HTTP Post Tester tool enables you to test data that posts to a specific URL. Please refer to the following topic for information on running the HTTP Post Tester tool: HTTP Post Tester Run the HTTP Tester tool /23/
11 Run the HTTP Tester tool 1. From the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click HTTP Post Tester. The HTTP Post Tester page appears. 2. On the HTTP Post Tester page, on the Posting Parameters tab, complete the following fields, as applicable: In the Url To Post To field (required), enter the URL, including the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), to which you want to post the data. Tip: Click View URL icon to the right of the field to test the URL. In the Send As Mime Package field, check the box if you want to post the data as a Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) package. In the Supplied Mime Package field, check the box if you want to post a supplied Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) package. In the File 1 field (required if you check the box in the Send As Mime Package field or Supplied Mime Package field), enter, or click [Browse] to select, the file path and name of the file you want to post. In the File 1 field (required if you check the box in the Send As Mime Package field or Supplied Mime Package field), enter, or click [Browse] to select, the file path and name of the file you want to post. In the File 2 field, enter, or click [Browse] to select, the file path and name of the file you want to post. In the Data To Send field (required if you do not enter a value in the File 2 field), enter the text data you want to post to the URL you specified. 3. Click [Send Test]. The HTTP Post Tester page refreshes, with the test results in the Results field. 7/23/
12 System Inspector Important: The System Inspector tool includes an exhaustive test that could cause the system performance to degrade. It is recommended that you run this test only during scheduled downtime, or hours of light system use. It is also highly recommended that you restart your EFI Pace application after completion to reclaim your system resources. Important: It is recommended that you run the System Inspector tool to check existing customizations after you delete any user-defined field. You should run the System Inspector on all forms and targets that execute standard and custom reports, or run the post upgrade inspection. The System Inspector tool enables you to scan your EFI Pace appliance customizations for errors. When you specify certain types of customizations to check, and then run the System Inspector tool, EFI Pace searches for all customizations of the specified types and attempts to load each customization. When the inspection is complete, the system returns any error messages received. 13 Inspect EFI Pace customizations 1. From the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click System Inspector. The System Inspect/Research page appears. 2. On the System Inspect/Research page, on the Inspect epace tab, in the Select Targets to Inspect group box, review or complete the following fields, as applicable: The Inspection field (not editable), contains the name of the various targets you can inspect, such as custom menus, report files, and forms. The Description field (not editable), contains a brief description of the inspection process for the corresponding target. In the Post Upgrade Target field (not editable), when checked, indicates that the selected target was affected by the last upgrade. In the Inspect field, check the box to run the System Inspector tool for the corresponding target. Tip: Click the (all) link to check the box in this field for all objects on the page. 3. Do one of the following: Click [Selected Targets] to run the System Inspector tool for only those targets you selected. Click [All Inspection Targets] to run the System Inspector tool for all targets in the list. Click [Post Upgrade Inspection] to run the System Inspector tool for all targets affected by the last upgrade. The system scans the specified targets for customization errors, displays the scan progress at the top of the page, then displays the results of the scan. Tip: If the system encounters an error, an error message appears in the corresponding section. Otherwise, the section displays the message, No problems found. Each error message contains at least the form or file name of the problem area. In some cases, the actual field or a specific location also appears. If you receive an error message, you should first look for the file name, and then the more specific information. 4. Do one of the following: Click [Start Over] to restart the System Inspector tool. Click [Print Results Report] to print the results of the scan. 7/23/
14 Research EFI Pace customizations 1. From the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click System Inspector. The System Inspect/Research page appears. 2. On the System Inspect/Research page, on the Research epace tab, in the Select Targets to Research group box, review or complete the following fields, as applicable: The Research Target field (not editable), contains the name of the various targets you can research, such as custom reports and counts. The Description field (not editable), contains a brief description of the research process for the corresponding target. In the Post Upgrade Target field (not editable), when checked, indicates that the selected target was affected by the last upgrade. In the Research field, check the box to run the System Inspector tool to research the corresponding target. Tip: Click the (all) link to check the box in this field for all objects on the page. 3. Do one of the following: Click [Selected Targets] to run the System Inspector tool for only those targets you selected. Click [All Research Targets] to run the System Inspector tool for all targets in the list. The system scans the specified targets, displays the scan progress at the top of the page, then displays the results of the scan. 4. 15 Browser Test The Browser Test tool enables you to test your browser settings to determine if your browser operates correctly. You can use the Browser Test tool to get the current settings (such as the browser and versions of software installed that affect the operation of EFI Pace) from your workstation and review and modify EFI Pace form and grid widgets, such as drop-down list widgets and image widgets. Please refer to the following topics for information about running the Browser Test tool: Browser Test Review your browser settings Review EFI Pace widget settings /23/
16 Review your browser settings 1. From the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click Browser Test. The Browser Test page appears. 2. On the Browser Test page, on the Browser Info tab, in the Browser Settings group box, review the following fields, as applicable: Tip: EFI Pace displays an informational message with the recommended settings if your system does not meet the minimum requirements. The Browser Name field (not editable), contains the name of the browser your workstation runs, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. The Browser Version field (not editable), contains the browser version your workstation runs. The Java field (not editable), indicates whether Java is enabled on your workstation s browser. The Flash Player field (not editable), indicates whether Flash Player is enabled on your workstation s browser. The Screen Resolution field (not editable), contains the current screen resolution setting for your workstation s browser. The Screen Display field (not editable), contains the current screen display settings for your workstation s browser. The Operating System field (not editable), contains the operating system run by your workstation. The Browser Version field (not editable), contains the browser version your workstation runs. In the Research field, check the box to run the System Inspector tool to research the corresponding target. Tip: Click the (all) link to check the box in this field for all objects on the page. 3. On the Browser Info tab, in the EFI Pace Compatibility Requirements group box, to ensure that your workstation is compatible with EFI Pace, review all of the following: In the Supported Browsers section, EFI Pace displays the current browser that EFI Pace supports. Click on any of the browser icons to visit the corresponding Downloads page. 7/23/
17 In the Required JVM section, EFI Pace displays the JVM software and version required to use the EFI Pace system. Click on the corresponding link to visit the Downloads page for the JVM. In the Required PDF Viewer section, EFI Pace displays the PDF viewer and version required to use the EFI Pace system. Click on the corresponding link to visit the Downloads page for the PDF viewer. In the Disable Pop-up Blockers section, click on the link to review the procedure for disabling your browser s pop-up blockers. In the Operating Systems section, EFI Pace displays a list of compatible operating systems and versions for the EFI Pace system. 7/23/
18 Review EFI Pace widget settings 1. If you are already on the Browser Test page, skip to step 2. Otherwise, from the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click Browser Test. The Browser Test page appears. 2. On the Browser Test page, click on the Form Widgets tab, and review the examples in the Basic Form Widgets group box. The Basic Form Widgets group box displays examples of the basic widgets and fields EFI Pace uses for data types, such as text string field values, date fields, and attachment fields. 3. On the Form Widgets tab, review the examples in the Other Widgets group box. The Other Widgets group box displays examples of other widgets and fields EFI Pace uses, such as drop-down lists, [Pick] buttons, composite fields, system tips, link buttons, and page buttons. 4. On the Browser Test page, click on the Grid Widget tab, and review the examples of the grid widgets and fields EFI Pace uses, [Add] buttons and grid filters. 7/23/
19 Purge Vault The Purge Vault tool enables you to select and remove object attachment fields in order to purge the vault. This process deletes the first 10,000 attachments each time you execute it. The process is not limited by date and deletes new attachments. Note: Be sure you back up any valuable attachments before you use this tool. 20 Purge the EFI Pace vault 1. From the EFI Pace main menu, click Administration, then move the mouse over System Tools, then click Purge Vault. The Purge Vault page appears. 2. On the Purge Vault page, on the Purge Vault tab, in the Objects group box, locate the object and field you want to purge, then check the box in the Purge field. Tip: Click the (all) link to check the box in the Purge field for all fields on the page. 3. Click [Purge Vault]. The Attachment Purge Process page appears, with the number of objects selected for purging and the number of objects purged by the system. 7/23/
