1 What s New in Predictive Analysis Version ? On April 30, SAP Released version of Predictive Analysis. While this release did not include a huge number of functional additions, there are a number of changes under the covers that may affect users significantly. Administrative Changes Support for Single Sign On Predictive Analysis now includes support for Single Sign On connections to HANA. The connection dialog now includes options for Authenticate by database user or Authenticate by operating system user whenever the user connects to HANA. Operating System Support for Windows 8 Predictive Analysis can now be installed and run on Windows 8 operating systems. Configuring trace logs Predictive Analysis can now trace procedures, which is helpful for debugging. Instructions to configure the log files are in the user guide:

2 PAL/AFL API Change Requires Changes to User Privileges The information SAP released on this change is: Adopts new AFL AP mechanism for invoking PAL algorithms Supposedly, this also improves performance for PAL algorithms, however, unfortunately this does result in PAL algorithms that worked for a user under version generating this error until the AFL_WRAPPER_GENERATOR(SYSTEM) procedure is created and allocated to the user. 4 Visual Intelligence Updates HTML5 Visualization Preview Predictive Analysis is moving to an HTML5 user interface, and as a part of this change, more of the HTML5 visualizations can be previewed by selecting the HTML5 viewer in the Preferences Chart Settings area.

5 The look and feel of the HTML5 viewer is slightly different, and the chart options are located in a dropdown menu on the toolbar rather than being available on a right-click in the visualization window. 7 New Predictive Algorithms PAL In addition to the new API functionality, several new PAL algorithms have been added, including the new CHAID decision tree algorithm, single, double, and triple exponential smoothing time series algorithms, and several varieties of Regression. There were no changes for Offline algorithms, and no new Online R algorithms added, but the look and feel of the algorithms have been changed to have more consistent icons by algorithm category. Previously, the Save the Model option was in the properties dialog, which would expose the Model Information dialog to name the saved model if selected. However, with version , this option is no longer available in the properties dialog for HANA algorithms; instead, after a model runs, the user can right-click on the model fitting object and click Save as Model.

9 New HANA Online model saving procedure: Decision Tree Scoring Model Probability Output and Visualizations Some slight changes have been made to the Decision Tree output. Firstly, when running a stored model on data, the model probability can also be output in addition to the Predicted Value from the model. This is generated by selecting a checkbox in the configuration properties for a saved model module.

10 However, models that were created under previous versions of PA are not compatible with this feature and give this error when run with the Show probability option selected: The resulting probabilities are highlighted in yellow below: There has also been a slight change to the format of the Decision Tree Confusion Matrix output introduced in the last release.
